Make Trek Not War

@maketreknotwar / maketreknotwar.tumblr.com

A Star Trek blog run by theladyem! What to be expected here: Trek of all flavors! And lots of it. All the time.
I won't lie though most days it's mostly ds9.

i think star trek should write an in universe reason why some series don’t have swearing and some do. make it a universal translator glitch or something.

the captain of each ship can turn the swears on or off when they want to

Kirk would have kept the swears on but any ship carrying Dr. Leonard McCoy is required by Starfleet regulations to turn them off

How dare you keep this in the tags @narwhalsarefalling

[Image description: a set of tumblr tags that say "#the tags from op are hilarious #spock gets briefly placed on a ship where the cursing is turned on and it turns out he’s been cursing like a sailor this entire time. #’fascinating’ is the universal translator’s way of making ‘fucking nuts dude’ starship appropriate #turns out when the translator says ‘illogical’ spock is actually saying something more like #‘your asshole and brain are indistinguishable from one another. do you really fucking need me to explain this you illiterate piece of shit’ #i cannot decide which would be funnier: if it turns out all vulcans talk like that actually #or just spock. #star trek #tos."

Followed by a screencap from Star Trek: The Original Series showing Spock raising an eyebrow, it is captioned in all caps, "Fucking Nuts Dude."

EVERY fucking stupid liberals university in the star trek future their fucking student sketch comedy group OF COURSE has at least one Vulcan and it's like their thing where they're like "haha I bet you wouldn't expect a VULCAN in an IMPROV group!!!!!" as if this hasn't become such a fucking tired cliche like literally since 2063 every fucking comedy show has the token Vulcan to be the straight man. you're doing nothing. call me when you guys make an effort to actually include tellarites in the writing room instead of confining them to punch lines. and to be honest with you guys your Vulcan isn't even that good. his performance was highly derivative of T'min's work in the big bang theory 3 (the third big bang yheory. they make a lot of sitcom sequels in the future)

The last thing you said cannot be true because star trek is supposed to be a utopian future.

star trek is very demonstrably not a utopian future it's a broken society playing at paradise. we see hints of this earlier in the post when I mention university improv comedy groups

This came to me like vision from prophets

[ID 1-3: an eight panel comic showing Odo and Quark from the show Star Trek: Deep Space 9.

The first panel shows Quark, standing behind his bar, holding a black t-shirt in his hands. Odo steps up to him and asks "What are you doing?" Smiling slyly, Quark looks up and says "nothing illegal, I assure you. In fact, it's a gift for you~" The next panel shows Odo, the shirt is shoved against his chest, it's black with the letters "F.B.I." on it. Quark continues "Here. A 'Federal Bureau of Investigation'. Just like in Earthly crime novels you like so much." Grabbing the shirt, Odo answers "Quark, I don't need clothes." Unperturbed, holding his now empty hands up a little, Quark answers "Maybe so. But Hoomans will certainly appreciate paying homage to their culture." The next panel shows Odo, arms crossed and looking to the side, muttering "hah!" before suddenly wearing the t-shirt. Holding up a finger, he says to Quark "I'm going now. Stay out of trouble." Grinning, Quark answers "You got it, constable," as he watches Odo go. As Odo goes away we now can see the back of the t-shirt. It has the letters F B I vertically on it but with meanings for each letter: Ferengi Body Inspector. /end ID].

i think the funniest possible star trek viewing order might be strictly chronological.

you’d have to start with that Voyager episode where they go to before the Big Bang, then work your way through every other time travel episode, the one with the whales, and First Contact before you even get close to anything approaching a normal viewing order.

at some point you’d have to watch “City on The Edge of Forever” followed by “Little Green Men” followed by “Far Beyond the Stars” which is about the most tonal whiplash you could possibly get from three consecutive episodes of star trek. I think I want to try this now.

me and all the bitches i pulled with my autistic swag
