GRANDMASTER OF BOKATOR; SAN KIM SEAN

San Kim Sean is commonly known as the Grandmaster of the Cambodian Martial Arts- Bokator. He has worked tirelessly promoting Bokator across the world through events, demonstrations even in competitions and fully dedicated to reviving the art as culture, sport, entertainment and a way of life that the Khmer people can once again be proud of.

Bokator is characterized by hand to hand combat along with heavy use of weapons. Includes a diverse range of knee and elbow strikes, shin kicks, submissions and ground fighting. San Kim Sean is 73 years old and he flips through a book to promote the Bokator. He illustrated and wrote describing some of the supposedly thousands of moves in bokator. A black-and-white drawing of a man with a six-pack and bulging muscles angles 토토 one elbow to the ground and another in the air for the page on elbow-hooking. As the founder of the Cambodia Bokator Federation and the Cambodia Bokator Academy, Grandmaster San has single-handedly written the rulebook.

Grandmaster San Kim Sean learned Bokator at the age of 13. He fled to the United States during the war and lived there for almost 20 years, teaching other forms of martial arts. In 1993, he returned to his homeland with one mission: to bring back Bokator. He has taught thousands of Cambodian students since returning to his homeland. Some of them are starting to attract mainstream attention like 28-year-old Tharoth Sam who has become famous in Cambodia as a Bokator athlete and her kicks have landed her roles in Netflix and Hollywood productions.

The skill level of a Bokator fighter can be ascertained by the color of the krama or the scarf worn around the waist during a fight. Beginners wear white, they progress to wearing green followed by blue, red, brown, and then ultimately black. And there is an honorary gold belt that goes to the individuals who have dedicated their lives to the practice of Bokator and contributed substantially toward promoting its growth. If there's anyone who deserves this, it's Grandmaster San Kim Sean. Thanks to his dedication and personal sacrifice, it seems that the world is starting to take note of what is possibly Southeast Asia's oldest martial art. Read more…

MUAY LAO

Muay Lao is a Laotian kickboxing and a traditional unarmed combat sport from Laos. The beginning was as a means of military training in the 6th century. Then the training was banned due to the encroachment of national sovereignty, but with the establishment of the Lao People's Republic in 1975, it has become a national sport.

This martial art form is pretty much the same as the other martial art forms like Musti-Yuddha from India, Muay Thai in Thailand, Pradal Serey in Cambodia, Lethwei in Myanmar. Muay Lao is very popular among the local people. But the Lao boxing fighters didn’t make that much money as the muay thai fighters make.

Before the game, the players perform ceremonial dances to honor the Muay Lao tradition in line with the drum, Tomtom. The game is played with music, and the music gets bigger and faster as the game progresses. The main weapon of this martial art is their powerful kicks. To generate powerful kicks they have to rotate their hips in the right direction. By keeping a full-body movement they generate powerful strikes and also have a good defense.

Muay Lao fighters start their career at a very young age from 5 to 6 years old. But like the other form of martial arts, it is also a dangerous sport causing damages and injuries including broken jaw, cracked ribs, broken or cracked shin, internal bleeding, and periods of unconsciousness. That’s why fighters often retires between the age of 20-30.

South East Asian nations practice this art as a way to honor ancestors and celebrate their warrior roots during boxing bouts where the values displayed are those of respect, discipline and honor. One 토토 of very few Arts that will test you in a combination of Mind, Body, and Heart all at the same time. Read more...

They are also responsible for keeping the scrum square and provide the power to shift it forward.

Blind-side flanker and Open-side flanker -  Flankers have the fewest defined roles at scrums and line-outs. As such, they often have a great all-around mix of speed, endurance, ball-handling, tackling, and rucking. Scrum-half-  the scrum-half is the key rugby positions when it comes to building attacks. Scrum halves form the all-important link between the forwards and the backs. Normally acts as the 'General' for the forwards and is always in the hub of the action.

Full back -  The full back is the last line of defense.
