Thoughts on why, in my opinion, Amortentia had nothing to do with Tom Riddle/Voldemort emotional predicament.

Throughout the books, we are shown over and over again how love is one of the most ancient powerful magic to ever exist.
Lily, is the best example of this statement. Her sacrifice alone was strong enough to repeal a killing curse from the most powerful warlock the wizarding world had met. Her love was so fierce that death itself was rebound, and if it weren't for his horrocruxes Voldemort would've truly died that night.
One of the many theories surrounding Tom Riddle, is that because of been conceived under the influence of amortentia he was incapable of feeling love. And to me that is completely wrong. Let me explain why.
If love is such massive source of magic, enough to defy death, ergo nature itself, how a human made potion could work against the power of love? It's true that Amortentia is the most efficient love potion, even though it does not generates real love, it's power cannot even stand a chance against the ancient magic of love.
In my opinion Tom Riddle's condition was purely psychiatric. Which I found ironic given his hate for all muggle related topics, and it adds an extra level to his character.
In the book The Half Blood Prince, especially through the memories of Dumbledore we can see some typical symptoms of someone who suffers from psycopathy (which is different from a sociopath). During his stage at the orphanage, Tom shows no empathy towards the people he hurts; and even though he probably started doing it because he was bullied in the first place, he had no guilty or remorse for his actions. I think that even he was proud of being able to generate such terror among the kids. His displays, comes from wanting to dominate his fellow kids, to make them see as superior, special. Is not about making them suffer for the pure joy of it, but for power. To show them their place. He collected objects from his victims, again for power, to let them know he could take whatever he wanted but also to remember what he had accomplished. It's also shown that he is aware when and how he can perform such acts without being discovered, in other words premeditation. His actions (especially before horrocruxes, which definitely twisted his already fragile mental stability), are calculated, controlled.
Contrary to sociopaths, Tom is able to adapt to society and follow it's rules. He is an excellent student, eager to learn, able to read and manipulate people building this way his path through his new life at hogwarts. Even before hogwarts it's hinted that he is very smart despite the horrible educational system from his orphanage. He knows what people wants, and he gives them exactly that. Like with Slughorn and his pineapple treats. During his last years he has successfully manipulated all students and teachers, with the exception of Dumbledore. He became the perfect golden boy, because he knew that that was what people expected from him. Of course this facade couldn't be always maintained, his interest in the Dark Arts is shown since the moment he gained access to the restricted area. And his arrogance and superiority complex bretrays him from time to time, like when he talks to Slughorn about horrocruxes and never considered that this could be a key factor in his downfall. Or his continued underestimating of his fellows death eaters (like Snape who he never thought would betray him despite having a level of occlumency that was s serious barrier against his legilemency) and even the abilities of Harry Potter.
Despite his good looks and no signs of physical deformities, Tom Riddle was the son of a woman who was a product of generations of incest. If Merope had not escaped, her destiny would have probably be one where she would've been forced to carry her brother's children.
So, in my opinion Amortentia had nothing to do with his personality, maybe it could be argued that it may have had some effects or even exaggerate his already existing problem; but again a love potion can't rival against real love. All of this of course, should also be analysed under the scope of growing up in an abusive environment, with no resources for a healthy growth, and a society who had just recovered from the Great Depression, and was now entering a new world war.
Voldemort was a the result of what he promoted, purebloods only, and what he hated the most, a muggle condition.
Life is a bitch that loves irony.
Yuu: I might find a way to return to my world.
Malleus: I see. So you will leave this place too.
Yuu: Your world would be easier without me in it.
Malleus: But it wouldn't be my world without you in it.

Random Tom Riddle Headcanon

Tom Riddle doesn’t hate muggleborns. No, if anything he sympathizes with the disadvantages because being an orphan himself, he faced many of those same disadvantages. Tom has never been one to discriminate against people based on their skin, gender, or blood. Those qualities aren’t something you can pick yourself, and if he’s completely honest, he finds the pompous superiority that purebloods have because of blood supremacy to be a complete and utter bore. There is one main thing that Tom values above all else when it comes to his judgement of people. The ability to take what you are given and rise above others is something he respects greatly.

Tom is incredibly smart and he can think for himself. He knows that blood purity is all absolute shite. He’s read lineage books and done research into the so called Sacred 28 and the conclusion he has come across is that all so called pureblood families are lying to themselves and everyone else. They boast about being pure yet all families have connections to Muggles in some way or the other. And the families that are truly “pure” are all demented from years of inbreeding. Truly a fucking shame that some purebloods were so blood obsessed that they couldn’t see the truth in front of them. All witches and wizards are just that. Just witches and wizards with potential to be great. He thinks it’s fascinating that Muggles can even create a human being that is magical. That in itself is a gift that should not be overlooked.

This in no way means that he likes or sympathizes with Muggles however. He dislikes Muggles for everything that has been done to him. He hates his filthy Muggle father for never wanting him, for leaving him out to dry at a shitty orphanage filled with judgmental eyes watching his every move ever since he screamed as a toddler and shattered all the windows in the room he was in. He hates how destructive Muggles can be towards one another. He has seen first hand the horrors and violence that Muggles can create. Even he is not so cruel to punish those that were completely innocent and simply trying to live their life in peace. Yes, he has tortured and hurt people. But there was always a definite reason for the torment he unleashed on others. The bullies at the orphanage got what was coming to them when Tom burned their hands without saying a word. His Knights were punished if they did not follow his orders or if they disobeyed him. His father rejected him, mocked him, disrespected him, and for that he paid with his life. His stupid uncle Morfin Gaunt had not only been incredibly rude to him, but had tried to kill him. Tom wished he had killed his pathetic inbred excuse of an uncle but now he was glad that he had used him as a scapegoat instead for he would rot in Azkaban, slowly going more insane as the days passed until he perished. The point is, his victims had gotten exactly what they deserved in his eyes. But he truly couldn’t understand the genocide of millions of Muggles due to something as trivial as their faith. The downright vicious experimenting that the Nazi doctors did on the Jews was not at all something they deserved. They didn’t deserve to be starved and put to work in concentration camps, only to head to their deaths in a poisonous gas chamber.

It’s not that he hated all Muggles, but he most definitely didn’t trust any of them at all. He felt pity for the muggleborns. Much like the Jews, they also didn’t deserve to be discriminated against for something as trivial as their blood. Anyone with a couple of brain cells could put together that blood didn’t determine the power or potential of a witch or wizard. Tom is a living example of blood not being a factor in how accomplished a witch or wizard could be. Then again, many of the Slytherins lacked in brain cells so it was a given that they couldn’t think for themselves. Despite feeling sorry for the muggleborns, he did not care for them, the same way he did not care for anyone but himself. Bigots were easy to emotionally manipulate and said pureblooded bigots also had many connections and resources that he would need for his own personal agenda of rising to power. So if he had to act like he agreed with those stupid as all hell blood supremacist views in order to gain the support of prominent pureblooded families, then that is exactly what he would do. Either way, one day he would have the power to implement his own values into the laws and rules that governed the wizarding world. And in the end that’s what he desires most.

Since y’all keep comparing the Knight!MC and Dragon!Malleus to Donkey and Shrek, I deadass wanna write another thing but with a different MC and a Fairy Godmother inspired Azul. Because let’s be honest, they give off similar vibes.
