Fragile Gods!
*CRACKS KNUCKLES* SO yall got a little taste of that setting with my short story I posted on here called "A God Forgotten" (I will post a link in the replys since I think tumblr is still weird about links in posts) THAT one would be kinda set in the settings past. Where as Fragile Gods is definitely modern. Its kinda in the same ballpark as the Sandman and a little bit of Charles DeLints Newford books in that its a world with layers and magic and surreal strange beings that dwell in it but those beings reflect the world mankind creates. Both ugly and beautiful and all points in between.
I don't want to get TOO deep into the plot juicy bits but it centers around a character who has a foot in both worlds. Her heritage isn't entirely human but to find it she has to delve through generational trauma, grief, personal trauma, revelation and ultimately personal choices and the ability to accept yourself after walking through spiritual hell. It also deals with the monster you can become after such a journey and managing it and accepting that those who choose you after seeing your true face are worth their weight in gold. Yeah its a deeply personal story. It was my first book I wrote. But unfortunately wrote it when I was still in my own dark night of the soul and it needs work. Namely influences of the monsters I lived with at the time gotta be scrubbed (or better yet repurposed >:D ) and I need to find the heart of what I was trying to get at. Its gonna be an actual personal journey just to get it where I want it and well the state of publishing right now often makes me wonder why I should? Plus the weirdness of purity culture out there make me worry some are going to see the themes as some kind of endorsement (hahaha, NO) even though I know DAMN well there are people out there who would resonate with this. Anyway its weird, surreal, spooky, and full of monsters, faeries, angels, demons, and many things stranger. Have some of my favorite doodles I did from this story. (and one photo because yes I made costumes too)
Yes the last one is me from Faeriecon West back in 2011. Byron Dazey was kind enough to invite me into his photo booth when he saw my costume. (I dont think he has a tumblr but I'm sure hes on IG and Facebook please go check him out) So yeah as you can see this story and its related elements have been living rent free in my head for over a decade now and it... yeah I need to get this worked on some damn day.

(The other story I wrote under the same name, I kept up, but changed it's title to be called an AU of it, since I did not originally plan for my fanfic to be a retelling of Mewtwo Strikes Back, or Mewtwo Returns, and only wrote that into it, once I ran out of ideas. So, I am in the process of finally writing the version of it that is canon to my story. It is similar to Stranger Things in not only it's dark vibe, but also some things that occur in it. In my fanfic, Mewtwo literally kills the scientists the same way Vecna does.)

I plan on completely rewriting the chapters as I planned for this to be a completely original story, but I ran out of ideas, after chapter 3 and instead basically wrote down the entirety of mewtwo strikes back. I will keep this old version up, just as an AU to my story. But I will be posting a rewritten version of it eventually, so look out for that.
