This is baby Buddy, born in June of last year. He's at least 60 pounds, and is heckin tall. He also has taken it upon himself to be the Official Winky Inspector. If his face isn't in his brothers' winkies at least once every few minutes they might just fall off. He's a dedicated boy. He's also supposedly a purebred boxer but uh… yeah no. https://www.instagram.com/p/B7l0FguB5mk/?igshid=jdazq8auf3zt

If you’re the kind of person who would do that, you never become Bezos in the first place.

My Dad owned a business my whole life. It was profitable, but it didn’t expand. I ask him once why he never grew it, and he said it’s nearly impossible without climbing on someone’s back–your vendors, your customers, your employees. Particularly that last one. You don’t wait until your business is big to be a good human being. The very first time you have to choose between your own profit and your employees health insurance, you choose the later. You give maternity leave even though the government doesn’t make you. You dock your own salary to not lay people off during a recession. You have adequate staffing and reliable hours. Anybody who says you can’t run a retail business on a normal, reasonable, predictable schedule you know in advance is full of shit. My Dad did it for 35 years (always have one more person than you think you need, and 98% of your staffing problems vanish). It’s just not maximum profit. If you don’t prioritize extracting profit from every corner of your business, you never become rich enough to give billions away.

(One of the things my father is proud of is that by the time he retired they hadn’t needed to take a help wanted ad in 30 years. Turnover was low, and when a spot opened, referrals filled it.)

This…explains a lot.

Yes, I am proud to be autistic, and I am proud to be part of this community.

No, I don’t see myself as “uwu quirky and special” because I’m autistic.

Yes, I know autism can impact autistic people’s lives negatively, and that it can be challenging - trust me, I’ve experienced it myself.

No, I will not see my autism as this 100% terrible and negative thing, because it isn’t.

Yes, I acknowledge that some autistic people will need more support than I do, and that some will need different support for different sensory needs.

No, I am not dismissing those people by refusing to use functioning labels. Nor am I holding myself up as superior to those people.

They had none of the sensitive skin stickers for the electrodes. It's been on less than an hour and I'm already itching like mad. The tech emailed the company rep to have some mailed to me… Having an allergy to adhesives suuuuuuucks. https://www.instagram.com/p/B3fXA5ohOBJ/?igshid=165ez6ff6yaem

Third doctor appointment this week. They're taking this dizziness seriously. Currently I'm at a cardiologist getting an event monitor. I'm to record my coughing-near-fainting fits. I'm certain it's vasovagal pre-syncope, but I'm not the medical professional. #lupus #fibromyalgia https://www.instagram.com/p/B3fPnQSh5bz/?igshid=em3ls1fn2esq

Pineapple challenge underway. Also zoom in on these great earrings by @ranchoeyes because wow. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2MuqGlhZEg/?igshid=12wnhv8ktsj6q

I haven't updated in a while. I'm doing a dogsitting and I missed two days of my crazypills this week. My guts are an absolute mess. I can't stay far from a toilet but the doggo needs a walk. Also I just feel wobbly and gross. https://www.instagram.com/p/B1eIcxVhuOx/?igshid=y4ea6vuh8eb9

I'm not really a big fan of melons in general. I haven't been for a long time, mostly due to texture issues. And also they don't always taste that great to me. but they are one of the few fruits that are okay by my low-/no-fructose diet that I'm supposed to be following. So I'm trying. I don't have any tajin spice, I don't have any lime or lime juice because I'm not supposed to do citrus, but the internet suggested a little bit of salt and a little bit of smoked paprika. Here goes nothing. https://www.instagram.com/p/B0EV5RahVIZ/?igshid=2y3bvbaq2jes

Okay, this part of having a dog is pretty great. She's pouting because @kathleenfrances.3 and @tcmiller10 are (still!) not home, and also because I will not indulge her in a puppy-upping tickle session. Sorry, Lily, not at bedtime. Besides, you're people will be home in like, slightly more than twelve hours. Also, yes, all those bruises on my leg are from Lily. She has no idea that she is a thundering beast. And that I am a delicate flower. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzj2i0ABaYQ/?igshid=1k8iiqdidivzq

The derp is strong when she's waiting for you to throw the ball. https://www.instagram.com/p/BzgGB0VBsHk/?igshid=vqbragi860ao

Aunt Maggie played a horrible trick on Lily. She thinks 11:38pm is the correct time to play with a tennis ball. Oh no oh no it's not, sweet silly billy Lily. She doesn't understand delayed gratification, but for real the bitch already lost 2 of the 3 balls I bought yesterday. 25 hours. Plus she lost the bonus ball I found under the couch. Aunt Maggie is the meanest meany. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzeuvu8hf8O/?igshid=15qcv4ids2gbx

The fireworks tonight did poor Lily a heckin disturb. She's finally calmed down next to me. https://www.instagram.com/p/BzUkEXWBUPw/?igshid=1wsz1kvo73cvc

If there was a way to run SUPER MEGA AD BLOCKER on this website I fucking would

“Please oh please open up your computer to a porn virus! If you don’t you’re evil!”

Freeloader Comin’ through!

We didn’t start this war internet users have with ads - We might have moaned about banner ads, but it was only when they started making noises when we might be listening to music or a podcast or whatever, causing two sound sorces at once, that we started trying to block ads universally rather than just a specific type of ad (pop ups).

And since then ads have gotten worse - Actual malware rather than merely breaking one of the fundamental sins of web design - though shalt not autoplay anything with sound. And the more aggressive a website is with ‘please turn off adblock’ the less I trust it to bother to vet ads and advertisers to make sure they’re not installing malware.

Not to mention that the idea that avoiding ads is “freeloading” is hilariously backward. Advertisement is a transaction between the platform and the advertiser, the user has no obligation to provide the views/clicks the platform has promised. Using an adblocker isn’t freeloading in the same way that leaving the room to get a snack during a commercial break isn’t cheating the tv network.

Ok y’all, I work as a web developer and I’m here to tell you that you are 100% right and that it’s shit. SO I’m going to tell you how to get around websites that block you from using their website if you’re using an adblocker.

Every website uses a language called JavaScript; long story short it’s a website language that allows developers to do the crazy shit you see on websites. Now the easiest thing to do is to disable JavaScript to stop them from knowing you have an adblocker:

Oh no! I’m blocked from viewing the website. It would be a terrible shame if I were able to right click and select the “inspect” feature

Click the three dots in the top right and open the “Settings” Menu

Image

And then scrolled down to “Debugger” and checked the “Disable Javascript Option”

And then just refreshed the page
