• A/N: just a lil something while you wait~ read the rest of chapters and catch up hehehe things are about to get reallll tense. but there is a happy little surprise awaiting
she didn’t even realise how she’d ended up at her front door, far too tangled up in her thoughts to even notice her surroundings. pushing the key into the lock, she took a deep breath to prepare herself. she was going to talk to chris about it. she had to. her heart pounded with nerves but she had to.
she just had to.
she turned the key, a shaky breath leaving her lips, and pushed the door open, immediately greeted with the familiar sound of a guitar strumming softly. smiling to herself, she slipped off her shoes and walked towards her flatmate’s door, sparing the sleeping figure on the sofa a glance. the door was slightly cracked open. she bit her lip and took a breath before pushing the door open.
there he was… in all his beautiful glory.
it looked like he’d just come back from a meeting with his project supervisor—wearing a white button up shirt that was still tucked in, his hair gelled and styled away from his forehead, a single lock falling right in the middle as he looked down at the fretboard of his acoustic guitar.
‘hey,’ she breathed out.
chris looked up at her, the small crease on his forehead melting away into his skin, a gentle smile gracing his lips. ‘hey,’ he placed the guitar against the study table, ‘how was your day?’
she gave her flatmate a slow nod, arms crossed in front of her chest as her body slumped slightly from the weight of her emotions. ‘‘twas okay. hyunjin had a really great day.’
‘yeah he called and told me,’ chris chuckled, ‘he can be so cute sometimes.’ the comment made her chuckle slightly in agreement as her eyes caught his gaze, and as soon and they did, a tentative frown took over her face.
‘do you…’ she cleared her throat while biting her bottom lip, nails picking at the fabric of her shirt. she didn’t continue, so he tilted his head at her, eyebrows raised, waiting for her to continue. glancing away, y/n let out a soft sigh. ‘do you ever wish you could be that happy too?’
his brows knit together. ‘what do you mean? i’ve been that happy before.’
‘yeah but—’ she stopped herself from continuing, not knowing how to even begin explaining what she was feeling. her mouth hung hope, lips quivering a little as her eyes started to sting.
‘is everything okay? what’s wrong?’
‘yeah, no,’ she snapped back to reality, looking into his eyes, faking a smile. ‘everything is– everything is fine.’
he stared at her for a long second, not convinced one bit. it made her nervous and she looked away, arms tightening around her frame. chris stood up and walked towards her, his hands resting on her shoulders, thumbs rubbing gentle circles as he searched for her eyes.
‘are you sure?’ he whispered, and she nodded. ‘then why aren’t you looking at me?’
y/n felt her chest tighten at the question. she let out a shaky exhale from her nose and swallowed painfully, trying to hold back her tears. ‘…you know why,’ she replied in a hushed tone.
chris felt his heart drop at the crack in her voice, his frown deepening. straightening his back, he looked at her with a broken expression of his own, eyes glossing over with guilt.
he let out her name in a quiet whisper, voice full of pain, but full of love and affection all the same. and perhaps that’s what broke the dams keeping her tears at bay. within a fraction of a second, sobs racked through her chest, body slumping forward as tears streamed down her cheeks, her head pounding and her throat burning.
‘hey hey hey, don’t cry,’ his voice broke at the end too as he pulled her into his chest, arms wound tightly around her frame. immediately, he felt her arms wrap around his torso, forehead leaning against him as her cries shook her frame.
thought i’d give yous a lil something while you wait 💛 what do you think happened? what does she want to talk to chris about? and dw it’s not all sad hehe. something happy happens at the end of the chapter too! ^^
