Thoughts of a Madman

@madzoroark13

Is insanity really a bad thing?
  • They didn't want to sit through demeaning and bigoted religious services just for a place to sleep. (Church run food banks do this a lot too btw).
  • They were late and the shelter wouldn't let them in and voided the rest of their allowed stay bc they didn't call and tell the shelter they couldn't make it in before closing.
  • One of the other people at the shelter got violent/threatened violence and the shelter refused to do anything about it.
  • One of the SHELTER EMPLOYEES/VOLUNTEERS got violent/threatened violence and the shelter refused to do anything about it.
  • The shelter refuses to disclose if allergens are in the food they're providing saying, "This is all you're getting, be glad for this much and thank god!"
  • Shelter refused to believe person is homeless saying, "You are FAR too clean and nicely dressed!"

A friend of mine is vegan but stopped proselytizing about it after joining a vegan group who brought vegan food to a homeless camp on the same day as another (non vegan) group brought (non vegan) food and no one lined up for the vegan food

So another reason is: they legitimately don't want the service! They're still human beings with preferences and no one is obligated to accept help just because you decide they need it

I'm sitting here, playing with wooden blocks like a toddler. Why?

Do you have DnD stat blocks for crabolds? or perhaps even the things needed to play as one?

I’m not familiar with DnD 5e, (or the previous systems either) but I’ve dabbled in RPGs before, mostly home-brewed systems.

If anyone else would like to come up with a stat bloc, feel free!

Surimi/crabbold details:

Small creatures (3ft and below for common morphs)

Based on crabs/crustaceans. May branch into other subspecies with differing traits (coconut, boxer, spider, etc)

Villages commonly made out of packed sand (like sandcastles). Villages generally built very close to / branching into bodies of water. They tend to dry out easily, and so have an affinity for water related things.

Natural armour (exoskeletal). Joints and tail are vulnerable, and so are commonly armoured conventionally. Surimi/Crabbolds moult to grow in size, and are generally weaker and much softer when freshly moulted.

Claws mean grappling bonuses, and are generally used for heavy lifting. Smaller arms are more precise, and are used for delicate work (buttoning tops, writing/drawing).

Traditional clothing appears brown/green/pale, but appears colourful within the UV spectrum, which Surimi/Crabbold are able to see.

Speech ability is limited, a raspy, bubbly dialect of common may be used. Surimi/Crabbolds will prefer to communicate using other means when available (pointing, clicking, waving , etc)

Myths refer to a lobster/dragon deity, and a handful of folk heroes. The concept of shedding/moulting is present in these tales.

Reasons why I love Static

A good hero works well with others

Look at how the other heroes smile at him, they are genuinely happy to meet him. When Superman saves him, he isn’t upset. He’s happy. He asked to be saved and he was

And it’s not the last time either. You see it here

and here

he works well with the justice league members even though his interactions with them are rare and in between.

He’s literally never afraid to ask them for help

image

I mean, look at that. He made the bat signal, he was outright asking for help as publicly as he ever could.

and in “Fallen hero” when he thought Green Lantern really had become evil…

Just look at his face. He is shocked. He can’t believe one of his heroes would do this, he tried to figure out why, tried to come up with a reason to explain it, so it would make sense.

And the moment Sinestro, disguised as Green Lantern, hurt Gear. He knew it was true, and he’s horrified that the person he looked up to did this and he’s angry, angry that he didn’t see this.

Static knows when to fight

but he also knows when someone just needs a helping hand

and sure, he jokes around

image
image
image

but he also knows how important the work he does is

and he also knows what happens if he messes up

His family knows what it is he does and they all support him in whatever way they can.

Image

and that’s why I love Static shock. Yes, they touched upon some serious issues

they didn’t dumb it down for the audience, or treat the issues with kiddie gloves, they addressed the issues and those were also the same episodes that they broke the fourth wall. Dyslexia, gun control, gang violence, racism. They didn’t pull their punches on this show.

They showed us a still very much grieving teenager who almost joins a gang in the first episode, who gets powers that he uses to protect other people without a moment of hesitation, not even thinking of getting revenge on his bullies. Even as a superhero, he still volunteers at the community center his dad runs.

Yes, Virgil makes mistakes, he’s still a kid after all, but he’s so genuinely kind and sincere that we can’t help but love him.

I don’t know if it actually is Static shock appreciation week officially, but it is for me

and, because I can’t help myself

Goodbye, Little Miss. The world was hell, but you made it easier. I love you.

every photo of a shoebill eating is progressively worse than the last

the one exception: this gentle boy who just wants to share a snack with you

I feel I should point out that the penultimate stork is being slandered. That duck was uneaten; the stork was just moving it out of the way, and promptly dropped it. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1225223/Dont-forget-duck-Giant-Shoebill-picks-feathered-friend-blocks-path.html

The Metal Glen, by William Murdoch

My mother told me once of when A young hare ventured from her den And as she danced in field and glen The world sang joy about her. But wicked hateful things abound And that young hare these evils found Then whisked her up from off the ground And glen was left without her.

The wicked power tore asunder And with this cruel and fateful blunder Cast her to a world of wonder Would she e'er see home again? And so hare flew that mournful day Over the sky and far away And down and down, beneath the sea To a place unlike the glen.

A world of men and man’s design A place where God’s light would not shine A Hell of steel beneath the brine Where misery’s echoes boomed. And all around her there were others Beasts like her, all sisters, brothers, Locked up, all, with one another, In deep sea-dark, entombed.

And in this crypt far from the shore The hare lay down upon the floor Imprisoned there forever more And left to all her sorrow. Her tender world was lost and gone So joy and happiness foregone She slept and cried and prayed for dawn To wait the coming morrow.

The hound was still, the birds said naught, The fox denied he had been caught, The bear cried “This is just our lot”, And surrendered to his pain. But the cat stood up and shook his head And rising from his metal bed He said “For now, I am not dead, And I will not die in vain!”

He cried aloud with much disdain And tore about his stark domain And said “These walls cannot contain A force as strong as I!” And the fox just laughed, and the birds all cried And the bear knotted up himself and died But the hare looked on as the poor cat tried To break him free and fly.

He shook his chain with all his rage And flew in anger ‘round his cage Decrying this dark mournful stage And the hare stood up as well. With passion did she then respond, She chewed her ropes and broke her bonds, And freed the cat, they ran beyond, They ran to flee that hell.

And what became of cat and hare? Did they break free to purer air? To guess their fate we shouldn’t dare Perhaps their tale closed well. But for all the beasts trapped in the Nether All life from out the loch and heather The flock that could not work together Are sure still trapped in Hell.

When we met, I felt afraid

Over time I felt love

Your charm was hypnotizing

My feelings burst through my chest

When I see you, Angel

I was such a fool before

When we’re together

I feel our flowers bloom

The snow could cover us and I would still see you every time

We were hurt under our tree of hope and it brought us right back up

I’ve always felt our love in here

I’ve always felt our love for us

We’re dancing in the snow

Our ears know no limits

We’re with children

How did we have this?

Outspoken with reserved

How did you unlock my door?

I’m with you and I see the truth now

My answer to your grief

Is my heart laid for you

I’ll do my best to keep you away from this constant bitterness, constant sadness

The sun will shine through

The snow could cover us and I would still see you every time

We were hurt under our tree of hope and it brought us right back up

We’ve always felt our love in here

The contrast fades away with the storm

As long as we’re together now

Hold me and embrace this

Let’s share love

This is beautiful, man ;-;

Lord of Life

Alright here it is, the last Lord and second to last Classpect all together.

Lord: Active embodiment class. One who becomes their aspect to control it.

Life: Control over life itself and natural energy. Metaphorically it represents growth.

The Lord of Life is one who has total dominance over life energy and the growth of others. They are life itself. Able to bestow it on anything or anyone they wish. From reviving the long dead to bringing inanimate objects to life.

Needless to say but the Lord of Life is powerful, very powerful. As would be expected of one who is one with the force of life itself.

The Lord brings forth life wherever they go. Giving long since doomed and desolate areas a breath of new life. They can turn wastelands into vibrant meadows and polluted swamps into beautiful lakes. They could walk through a war torn battlefield, death everywhere around them and bring it all back. Revive all the dead no matter how long they’ve been dead for. Restore all the damage done to the surrounding area by the fight.

No form of destruction lasts when in the presence of the Lord of Life.

I could see the Lord being someone that values life above all else. Not wanting to see anyone waste it or lose it pointlessly. They are one with life, possibly even life itself and they want nobody to waste such a gift. Because of being one with life itself the Lord would probably be immortal. Even more so then a God Tier normally would be. They choose whether their life force leaves them or not. They don’t die unless they choose to.

On the flip side though there can be some pretty nasty abilities the Lord of Life could use. Namely the fact they can end people’s lives just as easily as they can save them. If they don’t think someone should live they can just yank the life energy right out of them. Rendering them completely dead.

Now this does go against my idea of a Lord of Life that values life above all else but I doubt every single Lord of Life would hold the same values. And either way the power to do so is always there.

I'm terrified, because this was the result I got from all the tests and quizzes I took.

Okay so while our wifi was gone, we had to amuse ourselves without our regular streaming services (what does one do without Netflix and Crunchyroll??). Luckily, we had some shows downloaded, one of them being Aggretsuko! We immediately fell in love with it! It’s so cute and so relatable! I hope it’ll get another season!

My favourite character is definitely Haida. But I love all the others too. Washimi is a secretary bird which made me very happy. She and Gori are gorgeous supportive mums. Everyone is just so cute????

Is it just me, or does Gori radiate pure POWER!!!
