If you hold gun manufacturers accountable and make owners get insurance, as we do with cars, laws would be passed that reduce deaths.

Car companies put seatbelts in all cars, cars need insurance, and police are constantly checking for both.

You also go to jail for being drunk behind the wheel. You can be drunk with a gun. There are consequences for bad behavior.

Worst of all, you can be on a no-fly list and buy a gun thanks to Republicans.

We need better gun laws.

Another oil spill near Native American land is going largely ignored

At noon on Friday, tanks from a 96-car train derailed, burst into flames and spilled crude oil into the Columbia River near Mosier, Oregon. What’s more, no one noticed until Saturday. Officials told the Guardian they had detected no damage to wildlife. But the Yakama tribe — whose reservation lies north of Mosier, across the river in southern Washington — said the spill poses a direct threat to their livelihood.

During a press conference in Los Angeles said: “The reason that Ali struck a chord in the heart of so many Americans was not just his great boxing skill, it was his incredible courage. At a time when it was not popular to do so, Ali stood up and said, “I am opposed to the war in Vietnam and I’m not going to fight in that war.” And that incredibly courageous decision cost him three and a half years of his prime fighting life. But he chose to stand by his ideals, his views. What a hero. What a great man.”
