Just a Confused Crow

@madlenfireknight

Here for a good time not a long time, at least from the rate I smack my head on doors. Mx. Dae

Good for this person. This is exactly what you do. Screw the job.

I had a job that made me work an all nighter, 30 hours straight, over Thanksgiving. I resigned that Monday and it was one of the most satisfying decisions I’ve ever made.

Please pay attention to all the manipulation tactics this boss uses, because they’re pulling out every trick in the book.

  • “I’m not your boss, I’m your friend”
  • “Other people will be hurt by this and it’s your fault and I’m going to tell them all that”
  • Mocking language
  • Jobs are important too
  • “Be a team player”
  • “We’re your family too”
  • Talking as if this is a thing you must do
  • “We all make sacrifices”
  • Undermining your authority
  • “You caused all of this, really”
  • Accusing you of being “unprofessional”
  • “Look at the money you cost us”
  • “Just laugh it off and come back to work”

This is like a 101 course in how employers use guilt trips to coerce you into putting up with their bullshit. This is precisely why you should never trust those employers who insist that they’re “like a family.” They are not. It’s just a ruse so that your boss can neg you into putting your job ahead of your actual life.

Heres a friendly reminder

Your boss isn’t your friend

You should not

  • Spend unpaid overtime at the job
  • Allow yourself to be guilt tripped into anything regarding the job (unpaid overtime, not resigning, ect)
  • Put the job ahead of your life/health.

Also

If you have a supervisor you vibe with who will genuinely have your back, TREASURE THEM. Don’t kiss ass or anything, just be aware those can be hard to find.

By far I think the best part of my entire experience of seeing Across the Spiderverse in a sold-out theater was when the screen cut to black and "TO BE CONTINUED" popped up on and the moment everyone collectively realized it wasn't a joke or a visual pun the entire theater EXPLODED and there was a massive crowd of 20 and 30-something year olds screaming and booing because that was the end of the movie.

Never in my entire life have I ever experienced a crowd loving something so much that they booed at the end because they wanted more of it.

18/10, absolutely groundbreaking experience.

rolling around on the floor considering the difference in dialogue between the english film and the hindi dub <3

when pavitr gives miles the tour of mumbattan, he says " this is where the traffic is, this is also where the traffic is, there's traffic here too!" which is well and good and insanely funny, because yes. traffic is that bad here

but i don't think you've considered how fucking hilarious it is in hindi. pavitr goes, "yahan traffic hai, yahan traffic ki mummy hai, yahan traffic ka papa hai"

which literally translates to, "here's the traffic, here's the traffic's mother and here's the traffic's father!"

i don't think anyone has ever summed up how supremely pathetic and hilarious our traffic situation is here better than him, kudos to whoever dubbed it

so SAG-AFTRA finally released some official guidance for fans, viewers, creators/influencers, critics, and more during the strike. here's what you need to know:

  1. if you see a publication/news source/journalist talking about a piece of struck work, that's ok. they're allowed to do that.

2. they're asking regular viewers and fans to DONATE TO STRIKE FUNDS, SHOW UP TO PICKETS IF YOU CAN, and please do NOT boycott streaming services or movies in theaters.

3. influencers, content creators, cosplayers, and anything in between is still a bit of a grey area, but they're asking people to use their best judgement. "organically" means UNPAID promo (like an invite to a premiere without being paid, being sent a publicity box, letting the company's social media post a photo of you in cosplay, etc).

obviously this doesn't answer every question, and isn't hard and fast rules for fanworks, but it can at least inform how you personally choose to move forward when posting online and moving publically. i hope this helps!

Apparently they claim that they do this every year to prepare for the windy season. I cannot imagine a worse excuse. But I also REALLY want to be a fly on the wall in their media room right now, because if this was the BEST they could come up with as an excuse I really, really want to know what the other fucking options were.

They couldnt come up with a better excuse because the writers are on strike.

FYI if your employer does this, if they have done it for a long time especially, you and your coworkers could be owed huge amounts of unpaid wages and it would be an easy suit if there is a paper trail like this and your employer is placing strict requirements on your behavior while not at work. Employment lawyers generally work on contingency. Just food for thought.

Ballister in the movie: Ambrosius, love of my life, literal embodiment of the sun, never did anything wrong, beautiful, talented, amazing-

Ballister in the comic: he can go jump off a cliff.
