Because I can make a difference

@mad4u2love

Casually reflecting on date night with @roxetera #atthemoxy! It was such art, I decided to CREATE ART. Today Rosie and I slid down the TALLEST tunnel slide in the world, our date nights are getting so extreme! OMG ROSIE LET’S BASE JUMP OFF SOMETHING. I’ve eaten so many sweets and got way too Monica Geller during Connect 4 hahahaha. We’ll be back @moxyhotels! Next time maybe you guys should #comeplaywithus #ad 😉 (at Moxy London Stratford)

TOUR LIFE AM I RIGHT! This was honestly the best week of our lives! Meeting you guys and performing live around the UK and Ireland was INCREDIBLE! We kissed so many of you but as Rose says, it doesn’t count when you’re in a different country. I didn’t know how many different countries we were in so I’m still really confused. At least I know the UK lies on the equator. Don’t forget to comment if you spot yourself in the vlog! BRING ON THE NEXT TOUR!

Fun fact: Rose didn’t even notice I tripped on the Scottish flag she threw down. What a bitch.

Loved this! It’s a mini documentary that keeps you laughing or smiling!

Hi guys! This week Rosie and I talk about the first time we took off each other’s bras, our first memories of each other’s boobs, and here’s where you can grab a Sloggi Wow Comfort Bra for all your boobie comfort needs! http://uk.triumph.com/sloggi-wow-comfort

Fun fact: I have lipstick round my mouth in the second half of this video because we kissed halfway through filming and I thought it was wild not to explain it.

YouTube is censoring LGBTQ+ voices and we’re not okay with it.

Over the past few days, YouTube has yet again done something mind-bogglingly stupid which hinders it’s content creators.

This time, YouTube has made the decision to filter out LGBTQ+ content on it’s new Restricted Mode - the intention of this mode being to ‘filter out mature content for the tiny subset of audience who want a more limited experience.’ Code for: adults who don’t want their kids to view inappropriate material. However, YouTube have somehow come to the backwards-as-fuck decision that a LGBTQ+ topics is categorically unsafe viewing. I call this decision backwards-as-fuck, for a couple of reasons. One, because DUH, and two, it’s very much reminiscent of how traditional media in the not too distant past dealt with LGBTQ+ topics. Basically, pretending they don’t exist or heavily downplaying them.

There has, rightly so, been massive backlash against this decision from LGTBQ+ content creators and viewers.

Connie Glynn (aka Noodlerella), who is a YouTuber who identifies as bisexual, Tweeted:

‘What am I to do when I find out my videos where I mention being attracted to girls are restricted? It breaks my heart.’

Emma Blackery, a YouTuber who has discussed being bi-romantic, also Tweeted:

‘LGBTQ+ kids need a voice in a world that still sees people murdered for not being straight. @TeamYouTube is actively taking away that voice.’

This new restriction posts a real threat to LGBTQ+ content creators, not only by taking away their voice, but by taking away their revenue. If their videos are not viewable by some people, it means that those YouTubers are losing out on the money they rightfully earned from the creation of the videos. And if this continues, these content creators will have no choice but to leave the platform.

Yesterday, YouTube responded to the backlash of it’s new restriction by posting a message to the community on the YouTube Creators Twitter page. The response is hilariously contradictory, beginning stating that they ‘are so proud to represent LGBTQ+ voices on (their) platform – they’re a key part of what YouTube is about.’ However, they then state that LGBTQ+ videos will be in Restricted Mode, ‘but videos that discuss more sensitive issues may not be.’ The response doesn’t go on to state what they mean by ‘sensitive issues’, so really we have no idea what LGBTQ+ videos are and aren’t allowed!

So, what does this mean for LGBTQ+ content creators going ahead? What about bisexual YouTubers such as Rosie Spaughton who has an ENTIRE SERIES on her channel dedicated to her sexuality? Looking at how much YouTube is trying to backpedal out of this decision leads me to believe that they will most likely remove these restrictions. Although, this is YouTube, and when have they ever made logical decisions that make sense to the rest of society?

All I can suggest is to continue vocalising our communities disdain for this decision. Get the message out there that this is 2017, and THIS IS NOT OKAY.

I’ve seen a few comments asking, “why are you so about #GirlLove?” In addition, a few people have stated that I’ve “changed” because of my new passion for gender equality. And you know what, you’re absolutely right. I’ve changed in a beautiful way. I understand you’re used to me doing comedy and to be honest so am I, which is why I have continued to do my normal comedy videos. That won’t change. But in addition to my normal content, I’ve made #GirlLove a big part of my life. Why? Because over the past year I have had some life changing experiences. More than anything I have humbly recognized the influence I have and have a burning desire to do something important with it. I’m very blessed to be in this unique position and don’t want to take it for granted. That’s why this month for my birthday I am asking you for a very important gift, to purchase a #GirlLove rafiki and help girls in Kenya go to school. I have way too much in life to need anything for my birthday, or in general for that matter, but these girls don’t have that privilege. You can purchase a Rafiki at we.org/GirlLove or by clicking the link in my bio. To those who just want my comedy content AND for those who support me in all my endeavours, I appreciate you all. Regardless of the content you like, the fact remains that people around the world still need a helping hand. It’s our job to offer them one. We’re in this together! @spreadgirllove @we

My mom posted this on Facebook and I had to share it. This is so important. Create the future you want to create. Yes, our children need to be strong but not just to withstand cruelty, but to overcome and change it. 🙏🏽❤️ #MamaBearKnows

I've recently stumbled across you and Rosie. The earliest vids you both look so loved up, but some of the recent ones you both look content and you give off a feeling that you both really love one another. Not that frenzy of emotions of finding the one, a soul mate (twin soul) Do you ever look back and how do you feel about your early vids?

We spoke about this the other day. I actually feel more in love with Rosie now. Nothing’s lessened or changed for me, only the love I have now is far more desperate! I hate doing ANYTHING without her, the idea of losing her is scarier to me than ever before. I think it’s because we’ve been through so much together. This YouTube journey turned out to be something completely unexpected. It’s taken us all over the world, it’s forced us to make serious decisions, move house and leave our friends.

We’ve had major stresses, big opportunities and life changing options to discuss. How we’ve managed to do it all without arguing is just insane to me considering huge things have happened recently off screen. Rosie is SO positive and supportive and I’m a total workaholic so it just works. We strike a great balance between work and our relationship but the one thing we suck at is making time for ourselves so that’s definitely going to be a 2017 resolution! One thing to bear in mind is that you guys see about 10 minutes of our lives a week. What you see is true and real, but it’s not all we are. I love our early videos, but like any relationship love grows and changes in time. But I’m far more excited about where we are in our lives right now than the days where I wasn’t sure if we were going to make it! Even though that was strangely exciting hahaha.

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH THIS VIDEO:

We asked and you delivered! This week Rosie and I react to your video suggestions! Some were shockingly sexy. OTHERS WERE NOT. Never have I seen a human give birth to another human. Well I’m straight now. To ease the pain, we dove straight into Fifth Harmony’s All In My Head (Flex) video! Anddddd I’m gay again. We review Katy Perry’s new Olympic anthem as well as writing a little song of our own that we believe suits the games far better than the official selection. Let us know what you think! We also cover Work From Home but added new lyrics. This is why we’re musical inspirations for so many mainstream artists.

YOUNOW

Fun fact: our cover album is imminent. I’d describe the genre as Camellow.

Our mind is an intricate house filled with secrets, stories and levels. In the rooms of that house live our voices, the ones that whisper to us throughout the day. Being a good person doesn’t mean you don’t have evil voices, it just means you’ve learned to navigate through them. We all have these voices that compete within us, contradicting each other, trying to pull us in different directions. Your ego fights your loneliness. Your desire for love fights your insecurities. Your silly ways seem ideal until your mind opens to those who are suffering around the world. We’re constantly hearing our voices and therefore it’s in our best interest to befriend them. But true strength lies in deciding which of our voices govern our actions and which ones define us.

It’s not about having voices in our head, it’s about what we do with them. These are my voices.

Catch me performing “Voices” at YouTube FanFest Toronto on Saturday, August 13th at the Molson Amphitheatre.

My Message

Hi, I’m Anaiah Pretorius and I have something to say.

No one might ever read this but I’m hoping someone does, I am 15 and I’m scared. Scared because people twice my age are making decisions for my life that I can obviously see is not the right choice. I’m not from America or anything but I live in the same world that everyone else lives in. And the choices you guys make effect everyone, including me because all I know is that, this stuff is real and it’s happening if we as a world don’t make a decision to better ourselves their might not be a next generation.

I can see that racism exists I can see that homophobia exists I can see that xenophobia exists I can see that anti-feminism exist

We all come to a point where we tell ourselves, ‘We have to make a change or else things might never become better’, but do we actually do something about it or do we just stand and watch. If I’m being honest here, I can tell you that I’m not proud of what we stand for anymore. I’m not proud of what we as the world and human being stand for, so many have fought for where are now. But do you think they would be happy with our position? People have died, fighting for us, and we are literally spitting on there graves by doing what we are doing.

2016 is not one of our best years but the year isn’t over! We can still make a difference. I’m 15, I don’t have a lot of money and I have a lot of decisions to make in my life but if there is one thing I’m sure of is that I want to make a difference. I don’t have a lot but I know I can use what I have, because I refuse to just stand and watch. So I’m making this letter or statement thingy, I don’t know if it will make a difference but I do know is that I can at least try.

I’m still scared I don’t know whether or not Donald Trump is going to be president but I do know throwing stuff at him won’t make him disappear.

I’m still scared, I don’t know if homophobia is going to go way away, but I do know that shooting people up at a bar is not the answer.

I’m still scared, I don’t know if racism is is ever going to go away but I do know that someone’s skin doesn’t define who they are and who/ what there going to be. And all lives matter but let’s just stand behind the lives that are being lost right now because I think they’re priority right now.

We all strive to live a life that has an impact on the world, but how is your life going to impact the world?

No one is born to be a failure, we all have the potential of being a success. And I know for a fact that if we all just stand by each other and be loyal to each other then I know we can and will make it through 2016.

-Your skin color doesn’t define you or your self worth -Your sexual orientation doesn’t define you or your self worth -Your religion doesn’t define you or your self worth -Your gender doesn’t define you or your self worth

You define who you are and you define your self worth, what you think of yourself is what defines you, and let me tell you, you define you, and being yourself is worth so much. So stay true to yourself.

2016 won’t overcome us, and instead we will overcome it. The future is in our hands, let’s not throw it away.

Powerful and positive message to a hurting world!
