Miguel arguing fucking his brother’s fiancé was a canon event
This is one of the most accurate political ideology graphs I've seen in a very long time. It starts left-wing and goes to right wing and is super easy easy to understand.
Where do you fall on this graph?
Based on the bit of political ideology I’m familiar with, I can’t comprehend what the hell this graph is depicting. Socialism and Nazism are on the same side of the political spectrum? And anarchy and conservatism are that much more related than communism and socialism?
literally cannot stop thinking abt all the layers on which spiderverse works.
it’s a love letter to comics - not just to comics as a visual medium, but also to the madness and absurdity particular to superhero comics, especially big comic events. it’s abt how insisting on only one strictly correct Canon™️ when it comes to something like comics is not only limiting, but missing the point, the potential. it’s a critique of stories that declare the suffering of their heroes as necessary to their character even when it’s redundant, pointless, repetitive. its abt challenging the the systems&institutions that demand you struggle and suffer for their sake because well, that’s how it’s always been and make their acceptance of you conditional on your compliance. it’s abt being doomed by the narrative and knowing it, abt fighting for your right to write your own story. it’s takes the racist backlash and vitriol Miles received from Spiderman fans on his introduction in the comics and makes the movie an ardent defence of miles’ very right to exist, a thorough defiance of the idea that miles isn’t “supposed” to be spiderman. augh. film of all time

I know we’re way past April, but I liked this monthly log so much that I wanted to share it!

A Tumblr Quick Start Guide
A year ago, I realized that every time I logged onto Twitter, I felt my blood pressure rise. It's a platform that runs on anger and outrage, and I wanted someplace better to spend my screen time. In my almost-year on Tumblr, I now realize I log on here and get one or two good laughs every time I check my dashboard.
Tumblr has given me a lot lately, but it is a bit different than other platforms. I'd like to give back a little and provide a quick-start guide on how being new to Tumblr worked for me.
a post-doc was doing a guest seminar at my institute and at the beginning of his presentation he was explaining why he chose birds for his evolutionary analysis - so he said "well first of all, because birds are the best and most interesting animals and it's fun to study them" and a few professors in the room gave him a very serious nod
stem people we are such nerds I love it!
