I think detaching disgust from morality is one of the keys to Chilling Out. You can find inner peace by being able to go "hm! Gross" and recognize if it's an actual problem or not. Cause if it's not an actual problem... it's not your problem 🙏 god bless

no tv show will ever be able to resolve a m/m/f love triangle as perfectly and as weirdly as Hannibal, in which the woman kisses one of the guys, sleeps with the other one, then decides "actually, never mind, you're both awful!" and marries a rich lesbian instead - and, while this is all going on, the guys develop a weird homoerotic obsession with each other culminating in them going off a cliff together. truly unhinged and unmatched

You were wrong about that.
But I can give you death.

Gather ‘round, you vagabonds pickin’ fruit and hoppin’ freights. Anyone who’s wondering, wondering why the winds have changed. I’ll sing a song of a love gone wrong, between a mighty king and queen. Gather ‘round and I’ll sing a song Of Hades and Persephone.

What I've learned from reading about grifters and conmen and the like is that they're almost never particularly sophisticated in their deceptions; their lies often fall apart if you blow on them. What they are, however, are completely brazen about it. They're depending on you to have too much on your plate to bother fact checking them; to give them the benefit of the doubt; to assume that no one could ever actually be audacious enough to lie about something that could be so easily fact-checked, so you don't need to fact check them. And what's really distressing is that, a lot of the time, it works.
Now of course, there may be a bit of a "toupée fallacy" at play here, because you only learn what lies grifters tell if they get caught, and maybe the sophisticated ones just don't. But I suspect that there's very few people who would go to all of the trouble of, say, making elaborate forgeries of photos or documents or the like if they can just assert something is true, or show you a different and unrelated document, or search a photograph and tell you that it's them, and get away with it 95% of the time.
