Hello, Tumblr. This is a badges update.
You may have noticed that we’ve launched a set of badges you can earn for your blogs through your actions on Tumblr—like the Top Poster Club, the Blazer, and the Generous Citizen. You’ll automatically earn (and be able to choose to display) these badges. If you’ve earned a badge, you’ll see it bubble up in the lower left corner of your dash:
You can now also display different purchased and earned badges in one row next to your blog name, in whatever order you like. Pick which order you like them in. Mix and match with your checkmarks. Or wear all your bling at once. Your call!
Here’s what that looks like:
And here’s how it works:
- To manage your badges on web, click the account icon, select a blog from the drop-down, and click “Blog Settings” from the menu. Click on the little pencil under your blog name to add, edit, or hide badges and checkmarks.
- On mobile, head to your blog, click on the little paint palette in the top right corner, and you’ll see the little pencil icon under your blog name. Click on the little pencil under your blog name to add, edit, or hide badges and checkmarks.
- Watch as they magically appear next to your username on the dash and your blog view.
- You can always choose not to show any badges—simply unselect them in the very same “Badges” view in your settings.
- It’s worth noting that some of the badges you can earn will only work on your primary, like the Generous Citizen, because you can only gift from your primary.
- To purchase a badge, head to the Tumblrmart icon and select “Badges” from the menu at the top.
There you go. Now everyone can see who you are on Tumblr! At a glance! Nifty.

Tumblr Domains: That thing you do in the place they already know
Hello, [tumblr]. Look at you all here vibing. Some of you are out here providing essential services, like making art—and people happy in the process. Maybe you’re creating pfps for your followers. Or painting people’s OCs in intricate and enlightening detail. Or taking beautiful pictures of mushrooms. Or sharing your homestead life with the world. Or coming up with entire ARG universes for your followers to immerse themselves in. Maybe you’re making memes for that one show that existed for fifteen seasons and stopped airing years ago. Perhaps you’re simply fulfilling the age-old societal need of staying silly :3. Whatever it is you come here to do, why not make it official and claim your domain?
Having a domain can add a little professional gleam to your online presence. It can be a funny little joke from you to you. It can also add an extra layer of this-is-what-this-is to your online persona.

Here’s how you get your very own slice of the internet, right here on Tumblr:
- Click on your account icon and select “Domains” from the drop-down.
- Register your info, pop in your payment details, and hey presto. You’re now an official Tumblr citizen.
- If you already have a custom domain purchased elsewhere, it’ll continue to work for now, but you will no longer be able to connect a new custom domain bought elsewhere to your blog.
- Eventually, we will implement domain transfers (outbound and inbound) and paid domain connection.
And, to celebrate this historic moment, we’ve got a little offer for those interested in a .blog domain:
- First year (through to July 31): $3.00
- First year (from August 1 – December 31): $5.00

We're in the thrall of Gladis and her little terrors! Whether you believe they're annoyed at yachts because they want to play in the jetstreams of motorboat engines, or you believe they're taking back the ocean and nature is winning—we can probably all agree that the noble orca makes for excellent art. Luckily, your local Artists on Tumblr agree.
For anyone worried because they write the same trope more than once: I love that shit. I will love that first one and I will still be excited for the thirtieth one. Let these idiots do the same thing over and over again. We deserve that.
