How would you write a character that was innocent, adorable and shy?

Writing an Innocent and Shy Character

The three main things to use when describing character personalities are: body language, dialogue, and appearance. You can learn everything you need to know about a person from paying attention to these things. Depending on how shy your character is, these traits can vary.

Body language: Someone who is shy is usually an introvert. How they act when they are alone is different than how they act in large crowds. When they’re alone or with a few people they feel comfortable with, they’ll be relaxed. When they’re around new people or in large crowds, they’ll be tense and nervous.

Relaxed body language: relaxed muscles, low shoulders, arms at side, even breathing, level head, genuine smile, steady eye contact
Nervous body language: Tucked into one’s self, fidgeting, use of a coping mechanism (biting fingernails, playing with phone, etc.), lowered head and eyes, crossed arms and legs, biting lip, false smile with hard press lips, flushed skin

Dialogue: If your character is in a situation that makes them uncomfortable or shy, they may stutter or mumble. It’s also important to pay attention to what they say. To show their shyness, they could talk about being uncomfortable around new people or how they prefer to be alone. Dialogue is also a great way to portray innocence in a character. To show your character’s innocence, have them ask lots of questions and be curious about the world around them.

Appearance: This is going to be the most important part when making your character adorable, but it is also important when showing shyness and innocence. Wide eyes can show all of these traits. You should also note what clothes they are wearing. If your character wants to hide, they may wear large, baggy clothes in neutral colours.

its “thighs rubbing together under ya sundress” season

Buy cute, cheap lace leggings. Cut them a little above your knee. Hem them or don’t, but then you can wear them under your sundresses and not worry about how you sit or if your thighs chafe, and if anyone sees them they look cute af so hell yes

Or a little deodorant between the thighs is magical

Also, LUSH sells this dust called Silky Underwear that makes your skin smooth so they don’t stick together or chafe.

I love that we’re all here for each other in this season of need

Monistat has an anti-chafing gel that works wonders and I live by. You can usually find it in the feminine care aisle of any drugstore.

There’s this stuff called Glide…pretty cheap & works hella miracles

I’m so ready for sundress season.

reblog to save a thigh

Dudes, just write. Stop asking me if you should start/continue/finish what you’re writing despite having x, y, or z problem. If you want to write I am in NO WAY authorized to tell you when to stop/start. That’s up to you and always will be.

If you think “no one will ever genuinely like this” you are 100% wrong. 100%. Think about all the trash out there that has fans. I wrote stuff when I was twelve that had more genuine fans among my family/classmates than ANYTHING I never shared with another living soul. It’s impossible to write something no one will like.

If you think “I’ll never finish it so why even bother?” you’re only depriving yourself, man. That’s like saying, “I like this cookie, but I can’t eat the whole bag. Guess I won’t even try one.” ????? Just write the story, to hell with endings. Some of the best works in the world went unfinished by the author/composer/architect, yet we admire the heck out of them. Maybe, instead of thinking you’ll never finish something, tell yourself this is the one you will finish (and repeat it until you do).

If you feel “this hurts to write, I’m too close to the subject material” either set it aside or full speed ahead. You MUST know how many classics, prize winners, and life changers came from someone’s very real pain and experience. Addicts, traumatized persons, victims, quite often they find solace and healing in writing about their experiences. Most importantly, so do their readers.

If you want to write, write. Otherwise only you are standing in the way of what you want.
