« Attempting to impose order over chaos is futile. Nature is, by its very nature, chaotic. »

Fascinating Morrigan, I love her very-very much! I was inspired by the aesthetics of the swamp witch, as she appears to us at the beginning of the first game <3

Help save mature forests in the US

Note: this is not one of those "click here and say I AGREE or I DISAGREE" comment options. They're looking for multifaceted feedback.

The USDA Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, DOI, are seeking input on the development of a definition for old-growth and mature forests on Federal land, and are specifically requesting input on the following questions:

  • What criteria are needed for a universal definition framework that motivates mature and old-growth forest conservation and can be used for planning and adaptive management?
  • What are the overarching old-growth and mature forest characteristics that belong in a definition framework?
  • How can a definition reflect changes based on disturbance and variation in forest type/composition, climate, site productivity and geographic region?
  • How can a definition be durable but also accommodate and reflect changes in climate and forest composition?
  • What, if any, forest characteristics should a definition exclude?

For my American friends

1) Width. Add it.

2) Width. Just. Yeah. If you want to draw a really big guy - do it. The third guy is ok, but it's just a small guy with belly!

3) Gravity! More fat - more soft - gravity goes brr.

4) Basic shapes and clothes would definitely help you to draw a big comfy soft guy!

I cannot put into words how much I Fucking Loathe the fact that when you search something on youtube now it will randomly intersperse blocks of "people also watched" and "for you" into the results. That's not what I searched for, youtube. I typed in a search query because I wanted to see search results, not random unrelated garbage you have placed in my way apparently to either inconvenience me or force me to scroll further for actual results. I despise your wretched little games and every time I see it I can only instantly close the tab as I am overcome with the urge to burn something down.

"I despise your wretched little games" perfectly conveys how I feel about the entire algorithm/attention economy

God the entire idea of an "attention economy" is so fucking dystopian, but that's exactly what it is and it pains me

I love fiction about synthetic lifeforms and sapient robots and AI developing feelings and personalities. I love speculative fiction and the utility of android characters for exploring extended metaphors of otherness. I also understand that any real-world attempt to get me to perceive machines as people or things with rights and feelings is dangerous, unethical, exploitative, sinister, and an abject lie. Don’t fucking talk to me about real-world robots deserving personhood when we share a planet with whales and turtles and scorpions and trees and fungi that we treat as expendable resources.
