I had an amazing idea. Ready to bake bread dough in the shape of a roach so when you buy it it is pale and soft like a teneral roach but then when you bake it the crust will harden and brown like a roach sclerotizing. Then you can grasp it in your forearms taking one bite at a time like a mantis.

this has almost 11 million notes what is this
I’ve never seen this post once in 10 years on this site
I’ve never even heard of this before tho??? Wtf??????????
oh my god, I didn’t think there were any surviving versions of this post left
For those who weren’t around in the Deep Lore times, this is one of the relics of the editable post era. This post has THE SINGLE HIGHEST NOTES of ANY post on this site, bar none, but with more than a dozen variations. Every single post you’ve ever seen with more than 3 million notes has been a different version of this one.
This is the “Dean’s Gym Shorts” post. This is the Flubber post. This is the original “Reblog if you support gay people” post. it was ALL of them. before half the site got nuked, it had even more notes than it has now - at one point, well over 15 million, and that was years ago.
This, with no exaggeration, is the ONE TRUE heritage post
Millipedes are the cleanup crew/groundskeepers! They eat fungi, decaying vegetable matter, and occasional carrion and so help recycle nutrients back into the soil. They are not able to bite humans (that would be centipedes) and are totally harmless and helpful. The extra legs are for extra hugs
Once again the humble role of custodian is forgotten 😔
The garbage man is important

so i just learned that people fucking dove inside a god damn iceberg and good to know that even for cave divers, who in my opinion are already a special kind of unhinged, and i say that with all affection, there are people even more unhinged than that
I was going to post some Choice Horrifying Quotes from the article, but turns out the whole thing is a horror story and i’m just.
the fact that they got trapped and pulled in and thought they might die three times and were still like “hey what if we do one more” and only didn’t die because they decided to have a meal first??
yeah you wouldn’t need to change anything for this to be a TMA episode i absolutely agree, the damn thing already tried to kill them three times
okay guys u gotta read it. I was making highlights but it turned into a summary. still. read it. so worth it.
Ok so two people sink down to look around. Jill and her partner. First glimpse of horror (lots and lots of sea creatures) happens. But everything is pretty and they continue on
That’s the sound of their way in collapsing btw.
They find a way out. And then proceed to dive in again
they get out again.
The photos are sublime. So next day, Wes decided, hey, i want to go with you. Remember the camera i tested? We’re going to take even better pictures with it.
so they dive
and the current picks up again
Dude.
They got sucked in, obv. Water pouring down, the three try to get out. Fail. There’s no way up.
And then Jill decides to show human determination and ingenuity. Holy shit.
They get out. They see the boat with the science team, reaching for them. They’re late for two hours, but alive.
i did not manage to find the iceberg photos, but her other stuff is breathtaking
these photos are from some of her other cave dives

in recent events of that zoo losing the clouded leopard, it reminded me of the time i went to a large petting zoo and there was a free roaming little black sheep. cutest little guy i ever saw, soi went to the zookeeper nearby and said ‘i think its really cute how you have a sheep thats allowed to just walk around. ‘ then the zookeepers eyes widened and he grabbed his walky talky and ran

"Tumblr isn't like other social media websites" That's because it's a blogging platform. We used to have lots of those.
I've made a home for myself on Tumblr because Tumblr feels like a last fading echo of back when the Internet used to be good
once not too long ago there were servers in people's basements lovingly running obscure forums and message boards. finding someone's online presence meant visiting their own little website and reading their blog. there were thousands of large forums where you could discuss anything under the sun.
today the small places are gone. people don't have their own websites anymore. the best blogging platform left is built for microblogging and is only ever half-working. we have DNIs because there's no private space meant for specific demographics anymore.
tumblr is a retro bar where we gather to escape the cyberpunk dystopia of Net City. it's a half-ass attempt at how things used to be but it's all we have left. it's full of ads and unsavory bigotry sits at another table but the music is familiar and if you squint it almost looks like home. it's the only place left where you can say the Forbidden Words without mincing, at least.
the public internet was the greatest mistake the united states government ever made. it has revolutionized the world in more ways than one and it is now the primary means of communication for billions. it's a powerful tool but the corporate world succeeds in controlling it where governments fail. tumblr is an illusion sold to those of us who remember. the web will never be free again unless we have a communist revolution and/or build the most massive meshnet.
This looks like a shitpost but it’s actually solid advice, like, if you want to achieve a goal you have to pace yourself and be patient instead of expecting too much too soon and then giving up
How is it is supposed to work: your emotions are a response to your situation and surroundings. It is OK to feel the emotion. Now take that emotion and use your logical brain to decide which parts of the emotion fit the facts of the situation and which do not and why, and how you’re going to respond to said emotions (which is what tweet said, and what therapists say)
How people seem to interpret it: any emotional reaction is perfectly fine and I am not responsible for what I do out of emotion.
