And the way (mainly white) (mainly young) people think that just because they see rainbows and gay bars in their cushy Northern States American city that systematic violence and discrimination against gay men has magically been "solved". Gay men are still treated as filth and predators in so many parts or the world, yes, even in America. Non-white gay men face the additional racism on top of homophobia. Gay men are still being denied housing and medical treatments and love because of their HIV status, or even the suspicion of positive status.

The idea that gay men are somehow better off and even oppressive just sows resentment among people who should be united in the face of adversity.

And just because you're another flavour of queer doesn't mean you don't have to unpack and abolish your internalized homophobia.
