my dad–also a writer–came to visit, and i mentioned that the best thing to come out of the layoff is that i’m writing again. he asked what i was writing about, and i said what i always do: “oh, just fanfic,” which is code for “let’s not look at this too deeply because i’m basically just making action figures kiss in text form” and “this awkward follow-up question is exactly why i don’t call myself a writer in public.”

he said, “you have to stop doing that.”

“i know, i know,” because it’s even more embarrassing to be embarrassed about writing fanfic, considering how many posts i’ve reblogged in its defense.

but i misunderstood his original question: “fanfic is just the genre. i asked what you’re writing about.” 

i did the conversational equivalent of a spinning wheel cursor for at least a minute. i started peeling back the setting and the characters, the fic challenge and the specific episode the story jumps off from, and it was one of those slow-dawning light bulb moments. “i’m writing about loneliness, and who we are in the absence of purpose.”

as, i imagine, are a lot of people right now, who probably also don’t realize they’re writing an existential diary in the guise of getting television characters to fuck. 

“that’s what you’re writing. the rest is just how you get there, and how you get it out into the world. was richard iii really about richard the third? would shakespeare have gotten as many people to see it if it wasn’t a story they knew?”

so, my friends: what are you writing about?

I apologize for the unexpected hiatus - I realized a bit too late that the content of the latter part of the story is pretty heavy and would have hit right around Christmas, so I decided to let it all just simmer for now, and to give folks a chance to catch up and hopefully not feel overwhelmed by the plot.

Listen up!

Yesterday I made a discovery that someone was taking my stories and others creators.

I tried so many accounts trying to report, message, and block them. I also spread awareness not only to the creators, but also their followers so they can see what people are doing.

After what seems to be 100 accounts that I made not only me but my friends also did this. I don’t even now when the account was made, but I get this from a friend that tried to go and report them after their 70 try.

They had not only deleted their post they deleted their account.

I do kinda feel bad tho, but this is what happens when you copy.

Plagiarism can also be considered a felony under certain state and federal laws.

Plagiarism can get you expelled from your course, college and/or university.

Stop Stealing Fics (and other works)!!

Okay I feel so terrible that I have to make this post, but here I am making this post.

This is for EVERY FANDOM, so listen up!

I have had my fics stolen multiple times as have many others. This is so upsetting a frustrating. Writers (and other creators) pour their entire SOUL into what they create—their experiences, their hardships, their memories. They spend hours upon hours fine tunning and redoing.

So, please explain to me, what gives you the right to steal their babies?? Exactly—nothing. You have no right and you are just an asshole.

Besides, why would you want praise for something you didn’t do??? How can that make you feel happy and fulfilled??? Do you feel no guilt and regret???

Come on.

We, as a fandom, are a community. We are all bonded over our love of stories—books, tv shows, movies, arts, writings, fics, etc. We create for each other—to continue the stories and the excitement for our own, and others, joy!!!! But how is stealing works upholding this bond? It’s not. It’s downright rude and terrible. Why would you want to poisen a group of people who bonded so beautifully over magnificent creations? We are a family. We should all be supporting each other—not doing this shit.

In the reblogs I am addressing a current specific incident, but I felt as if this needed to be stated before hand.

OKAY, so...

I normally am not one to post this kind of stuff publicly. I prefer to address the person and situation one on one. However, I tried to do so and it was not handeled well—I was blocked.

It has been brought to my attention that the user leggyboyandhaweye has created a masterlist of my and other people’s fics that have been posted here on tumblr.

I reached out to this user and KINDLY asked them to please stop and take it down. Instead, I got a rude message and blocked (screenshots attached).

On their post they state, “please don’t steal my works.” Now, my question for you is: if you don’t want people to steal ‘your’ works, why are you stealing others? You clearly understand that it is wrong and hurtful, yet you continue to do so.

From the looks of it, you just created this blog and are trying to get big—you want attention, you want followers. But I will tell you now: this is not how you get it. This is how you make enemies and make people ostracize you. Many blogs try to promote smaller blogs by reblogging their works and helping them get known. This could have been an option, yet you decided to go down the dark path.

This is completely rude and inconsiderate. I’m not here to entertain your fantasies or promote you. I am not here to make people “attack” you. I do not condone hate of any kind. As you have blocked me, I am forced to take this public as I please ask you, once again, to stop. Take down your post and start anew.
