āhobie and pavitr are my favoritesā lets give it up once again for miles morales. miles morales proud afropuertorican. miles morales who keeps being pushed to the side in his own story. miles morales who tells you himself heāll create his own path. miles morales who will not let anyone stand in his way from saving those he loves. miles morales who will put himself in danger so pavitr, a stranger he has just met, doesnt have to suffer the same fate of all the other spideys. miles morales who in purely existing is punk as fuck and hobie clocks it from the start and has his back. lets give it up for miles morales, because even outside the movies he keeps being pushed aside in his own story
Miguel: youāre destroying canon!!!
Miles, who inspired his mentor to repair his marriage and have a child, became friends with Gwen when she had no one, saved Pavitr from the guilt of his girlfriendās fatherās death, and just makes everyoneās lives better by being his golden sunflower boy self: ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Something REALLY interesting about this scene
At the beginning of the scene Miles confronts Gwen about the 'small elite strike-team' comment.
Gwen lies and plays it off, saying that most of them are part-time anyway.
IMMEDIATELY after that in the next line dialogue, Hobie confronts Gwen and asks her 'Gwendy, how much have you told him about his place in all this? - Maybe not enough.'
Hobie is expressioning disappointment towards Gwen. He doesn't approve of her lying to Miles, knowing what's gonna happen to him. He doesn't agree with them keeping him in the dark - which is why later in the scene he says
'I haven't gotten a Scooby Doo, mate. But that's what they want.'
He's warning Miles that they're keeping in him the dark, on purpose.
ONCE AGAIN Hobie showing foward thinking and outwardly disapproving of the obviously unfair treatment that Miles is given. He's not angry at Gwen, but he's willing to tell her straight up that she's not doing or telling Miles enough to protect him.
Miles deserved to know Miguel's motives BEFORE meeting him. That's why he pointed it out then.
He's ALWAYS looking out for Miles
the fucking importance of gwen's dad quitting being a cop to me cannot be overstated, just the example and proof even that things can change that he doesn't have to die that it doesn't NEED to happen oughhhhh
Okay, so I've read the Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse artbook, and there is this fantastic passage on Earth-42 that gives context to the dimension, Miles G., Uncle Aaron and the Sinister Six.
āMiles comes face to face with a parallel world version of his own in Earth-42 ā an alternate reality where he never gained superpowers and where his Uncle Aaron is still alive. āWe wanted to craft this moment where Miles encounters this powerful figure in his life that he loved so much and he lost," says director Justin K. Thompson. āThat's when he realizes that he is not really in his own dimension, as well as the gravity of what he has lost. In this reality, Aaron has had to shake off his life of crime and became a surrogate father figure to Miles.ā
The artists changed Uncle Aaron's outward appearance to reflect this new reality and convey how he has changed. The Uncle Aaron of Earth-42 has a little gray in his beard. His clothing still has the old ācool streetwearā vibe, but he has a more sophisticated and older look. In this alternate reality, the Sinister Six have been able to flourish and take over the world. āWe wanted to create a world where it felt like Aaron and Miles G. Morales [this reality counterpart to Miles Morales] are the only heroes.ā
It's a much darker version of Miles' original home. So, we looked at comic book artists who epitomized that sort of noirish world - artists like Frank Miller, Sean Gordon Murphy, John Polygon, where there is heavy use of black and colors sort of recede behind the dark shadows. The powerless version of Miles is still capable and efficient and has great acrobatic and physical prowess. We also needed Miles to feel trapped in this dark world. We wanted to leave the audience with the burning question: āHow is he going to get home?ā It was just exciting to see the development of this world to underscore all of these narrative choices we were making.ā
across the spiderverse is so good that i still donāt feel like iāve watched it. i need it beamed directly into my brain on loop for a week straight. my attention did not falter once for the entire 2.5 hour runtime and still i lie awake at night thinking about all the frames i missed by blinking. what the fuck man
No because like did Hobie ever say anything incorrect. Like youāre so right babe everything totally is a metaphor for capitalism
WAIIIT. THE NEW IN-DEVELOPMENT TUMBLR LAYOUT WITH COLLAPSED REBLOGS.
IT REMOVES "NOTES" ALTOGETHER AND SEPARATES EVERY INTERACTION LIKE ON OTHER WEBSITES
I DO NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL
Gosh the way Pavitr moved in Spiderverse. Absolutely the coolest, but also Hobbieās cut up magazine always doing its own thing, and Gwenās dancer toe-points and watercolors, and Miles āfalling upā Morales. The animation and artist direction in this movie goes crazy.
hereās a gif of taylor lautner back flipping down the stage
Artist miles, musicians gwen and hobie. I think Pav's artsy thing would be crafting/jewelry making/embroidery š¤·
Miles with the hammer Spider-ham have him after he catches Miguel off guard:
