(Watari tried to tell him to stop.) • L sitting quietly all day, waiting for someone to mention his birthday, even though he acts like it’s no big deal. • L getting depressed when Light jumps out of a big cardboard cake as a surprise. He wanted a real giant cake- not cardboard and Light. • The children at the Wammy house making a video singing happy birthday and sending it to L. • L secretly getting excited and giddy when he receives and watches said video. • L thinking back to his past birthdays and thinking about how far he’s come. • L becoming sad at the end of the day as he wonders if this will be his last birthday to experience. • L glaring at the task force and repeating “It is only a day of birth, nothing to be so excited over.” Although, on the inside, L loves when a big deal is made over him. • L looking through a box of homemade birthday cards from the Wammy kids, feeling special that he is so important to them. • Watari, in the morning, bringing L a cup of coffee and a muffin with a single candle in it. • Watari thinking about how much L has grown and slipping L pictures of himself when he was little. • L groaning much like a teenager at their mom when Watari makes him look at the pictures. • L blowing out his candles and only wishing for one thing: • “Please..
