What guarantees come with putting trust in god about my future? I see homeless people, religious ppl who have no mory or family left and sch horrible thig that happen to be Muslims. My parents want to divorce, I have no family or friends and I just don't know how on earth putting trust in god will help in the long run...?

Putting your trust in God is not simply about saying: “Hey, I’d like a comfortable life, I’m looking at You, God, You better provide!”

When you see a homeless person, when we see religious people who do not have money or family, why aren’t we doing anything about it?

In The Qur'an, God says that all that is good comes from Him and all that is bad comes from us, and when you think about it, it’s true.

Who has created financial and economic systems that heavily benefit the rich and disproportionately hurt the poor and vulnerable in our societies?

We have.

Who has waged war, justified the deaths of others simply to establish and secure natural resources and/or to have power over another society?

We have.

Who has created and participated in a system that makes people feel bad about the way they look, their skin color, their hair type, even the color their eyes?

We have.

Nelson Mandela, when discussing poverty, said:

“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.”

Therefore, poverty, is a product of what we do, not some mystical punishment from God.

What we do with our wealth, how we distribute it, this is a test of whether we truly believe in God. If we believed in God, would we advocate for lower taxes on the rich and higher taxes for the poor (proportionately)? If we believed in God, would we be satisfied with paying our employees below what they deserve?

And when a person, Muslim or not, needs help, needs to have a place to feel safe, needs to know they can talk to someone, do we trust in God to show that we will be there? Will will be the friend to help someone when they need a friend?

I am so sorry that you are suffering, that you are facing such difficulties, and there’s little I can do from here. I wish I could be there for you, and perhaps you should try to reach out to Muslims, even on Tumblr, because while we might not be ideal, I think Muslims do rally behind people when they need help.

However, make sure to remember how this feels because you will be in a different place, you will be facing a situation where you will have the money to help the homeless, to be a friend for someone who needs it, to be someone’s family, and the question you will have to ask yourself: what will I do?

So trust in God isn’t about simply knowing that God will provide, because He will, but it’s also realizing that we have responsibilities to each other, and while others may deny you your rights, you will have to make a choice, will you do the same?

We must realize that what pain exists in this world stems from people going against The Command of God. It comes from people being cruel, from people being selfish, from people not doing what they should, and so to put your trust in God is not simply the perspective that God will give you money or whatever, because think about it this way:

God is real. Since God is real, that means heaven is real. If you do what God says, you will get into heaven. Heaven is eternal and this life is temporary, so why would you stress about this stage?

If you’re in college, would you stress about middle school?

What advice would you give to yourself in middle school?

So imagine what advice you would give yourself should you be granted heaven?

Heaven is the guarantee from God, the question is whether you think that guarantee is worth it, and to be honest, the path towards heaven is the betterment of the people around you and yourself, so what do you really have to lose?

I pray this reaches you and your families in the best of health and Iman, insha Allah.
