I think one reason I became obsessed with the Mandalorian in the first place was it was one of those shows where the main character is actually my favorite out of everyone. For so many it’s this one random side character we all latch onto and desperately hope to see more screen-time of, but with this one the whole time I just get to follow around this mysterious masked loner guy with a tragic backstory and capable of killing you without a second thought, and you would think he’d be that character who just hates everyone around him but nah actually he’s the most respectable and kind man you’ll ever meet once you get to know him, like he’d actually come to your bake sale and sample your homemade brownies if you just asked him to, and he can’t stop making friends with all the badass gays and lesbians wherever he goes entirely by accident because he’s too nice to reject people’s request for help even though he’s “definitely not a mercenary.” Also he decides after like a day that this weird green potato baby he’s been carrying around like a cat is his now and if you touch one hair on his head he’ll break your kneecaps. Just don’t perceive him, he hates to be perceived (while wearing the shiniest armor known to the galaxy). Din Djarin the man that you are.

girl if the speech din made to bo-katan was romantic then what the hell was that entire speech he made to boba fett. "i gave you my word, i'm with you until we both fall" is WAY more romantic than "these are the reasons i serve you lady kryze" like bro. be for real.

Luke compels people with the force a few times but Din never notices it's a force thing, he just thinks it's common sense that people do whatever Luke wants if he smiles a little and speaks softly

The Mandalorian doesn't know that he's turning into a simp ( T )

can’t trust anyone who criticises the mamma mia movie. like wtf are you even criticising. the plot?? the characterisation?? my brother in christ they put meryl streep, colin firth and amanda seyfried on an island, got them drunk and asked them to sing abba songs in the campest way possible that’s LITERALLY. IT. by this point you have to just assume that you’re the problem.

bitches be like "but we never learn who her father is!!" uh yeah we do she has Three??

Stating the obvious but anyway one thing this episode did via Grogu’s flashbacks is I think deliberately highlight similarities between the children of the watch and the jedi. Grogu remembering the teachers who fought and died to protect him is happening at the same time as a group of cotw mandos rescuing a foundling.

But there are other similarities of course, the taking in of foundlings generally, the somewhat communal way they are taught and raised, the way they are asked, when they reach a certain age and skill, if they are prepared to take on the vows of their respective creeds. They’re far from identical but I feel like the parallels are deliberate.

It’s interesting to look at Grogu’s choice in the context of what Luke could offer him versus what Din could offer him.  It’s easy to boil it down to the choice between being a Jedi and a Mandalorian or a Jedi and having a “dad”, but seeing Grogu in a communal family setting like this, it makes me think about Grogu’s age a lot. Luke is a Jedi in the style of the Jedi Order, but he doesn’t have the community part of it yet.  Grogu would be his first student.  Ahsoka isn’t going to stick around.  Grogu’s not even speaking yet, he’s not quite ready to stop being a child (he could if he had to, but he doesn’t feel ready for it if he has a choice), and that’s not something Luke can offer him yet.  The Jedi Order before its genocide could, because they had Master Yoda who would understand Grogu’s life cycle, they had dedicated crechemasters, they had thousands of Knights and Masters to help teach him and raise him, they had people to take care of Grogu as a youngling.  Luke doesn’t have that, he doesn’t have enough community yet to let Grogu stay as a child, and while Din can’t offer training him in the Force, he can offer that direct caretaking that Grogu still needs/wants. It’s interesting to see Grogu remembering the Jedi Order as a community that loved and protected and died for him, that he’s still grieving for his family and that’s part of why he chose to go with Din, because Luke can’t be what the Jedi Order was to Grogu, not yet, not without more time.  That’s why he flashes back to the Jedi when he’s in the forge, because the way the Mandalorians all run to protect their adopted kid, that’s what the Jedi did for Grogu as well, that’s what his family did for him, just as Ragnar’s family is doing for him now. The Mandalorians and the Jedi definitely feel like they’re being paralleled here and I think it’s interesting to view those parallels through the lens of why Grogu chose Din over Luke, and that it’s partly because what Din offered him was closer to what Grogu was still missing in his heart.

I did it…. I did it everyone. I’m the happiest person in the world.

Can we please make the deep sea the next cool desirable “final frontier” pretty please. I want Elon Musk to design a horrible Tesla Brand submarine and go down to map the Mariana’s Trench for commercial development and watch it crumple like a tin can the second it reaches 200 meters

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.

Might I add:

The defeat of the wizard who made people choose how they’d be to be executed

The woman who raised the changeling alongside her biological child

The human who died of radiation poisoning after repairing the spaceship

The adventures of a space roomba

Cinderella finding Araura (and falling in love)

I don’t know a snappy description but the my nemesis cynthia story certainly lives in my head

I am in love with you /p
