Female cinematographers: Charlotte Bruus Christensen Molly’s Game (2017) Directed by Aaron Sorkin
“I did, obviously, watch some of the big poker movie before starting [the project], and they all attack it very differently. And I knew with this script – because it really isn’t about the poker games, you don’t actually follow the games, except for one scene – it’s all about Molly Bloom and how she’s controlling and how she’s observing and how she’s learning about it. So I quickly learnt that it doesn’t help me much to observe these earlier and very successful proper movies. But that I had to understand, through my checks with Aaron Sorkin obviously, that this is a portrait of a woman more than it’s about the poker games.” — Charlotte Bruus Christensen
