Gender Hoarder

@lordgibbon

Hey there, I'm Jade. 32 years old, autistic, genderfluid, any pronouns acceptable. I don't make posts much, but I reblog a fair bit. Politics (dedicated leftist), science, and my fandoms most often. If you need me to tag anything, just say.

using "drugs" as a moral category will have people saying shit like "adderall isn't a drug because i don't feel any effects from it except the effects i feel, which are why i take it"

Every time a story is like "this enlightened civilization solved war, scarcity, and disease but doing so only made life boring and meaningless because you need Suffering for anything to be worthwhile" I just wonder how they even made it that far with seemingly not even a concept of games or simulated conflict in general.

Especially bad when this is a civilization so advanced and utopian that they could conceivably rewire their own brain chemistry to just not have those sorts of needs in the first place.

It's so weird when you think about it, isn't it? "A world without struggle has no satisfaction" is probably fair enough, but why does the struggle need to have such high stakes? Why would anyone need to suffer and die for real for it to mean something?

Empirically people are perfectly content to challenge themselves through things that will have no major negative consequences for failure, and it seems reasonable to believe this would continue to be the case if all the problems in their personal life were solved.

It kind of reminds me of the trope of the rich character who is bored and dissatisfied with life and tries to make it into a thing about how money doesn't buy happiness but really they just clearly have no hobbies or interests and don't know how to entertain themselves beyond just buying even more positional goods.

Chinese giant salamander (娃娃鱼) a.k.a ‘baby fish’ due to the sound they make that sounds like a baby crying.

The Chinese giant salamander is one of the largest salamanders and one of the largest amphibians in the world. It is fully aquatic and is endemic to rocky mountain streams and lakes in the Yangtze river basin of central China.

The Chinese giant salamander is considered to be a "living fossil". Although protected under Chinese laws, its population has faced severe declined over the last 70 years and is currently (2022) listed as threatened. There are evidence indicating that the Chinese giant salamander may be composed of at least five cryptic species, further compounding each individual species' endangerment. It can reach up to 50 kg (110 lb) in weight and 1.8 m (5.9 ft) in length.

yeah ok but what does weaboo even mean

like who just said one day

“YUP AND THEY WILL BE CALLED…

…the WEABOO.”

and everyone else went along with it

ok quick history lesson

so on 4chan the word “wapanese” was used to refer to dumb anime nerds. white boy wannabe japanese. makes sense.

A mod got pissed at it being used so much and said that the next person to use it would get banned, so the boards decided to use a silly nonsense word to replace it.

by complete general consensus, the boards picked the word “weeaboo” from a perry bible comic.

henceforth, “weeaboo” was used in replacement of “wapanese”.

the end.

I have learned so much

“Present Tense,” from DCU Holiday Bash vol.01:no.02 (1998)

Written, pencil’d, ink’d, colour’d, and letter’d by Ty Templeton.

“I like you, Glorious Godfrey!  You’re a shallow, precious child — the Caroler — happy with the sweeping sound of words!  But I am the Carol!  The Toy-Maker at the core of all things!  When you cry out in your sugar-plum-filled visions — it is Darkseid that you see!”

Common Foods: And Their Unmodified Wild Counterparts

Many fruits and vegetables as we know them today are heavily genetically modified by centuries of human intervention to make them more tasty, plentiful in edible portions, resilient to conditions, and just plain better looking. Here are several delicious fruits and vegetables pictured with their wild, original forms:

Dashcon may have failed but it has one of the biggest legacies of any con. Every failed con and festival since gets called the "The Dashcon of X" like how -Gate gets added to every scandal. People Photoshop the ball pit into pics from said failed events. No one's attempted another Tumblr convention in the nearly decade since.

They may have failed at making a convention, but they did make a legend.

hearing about CEOs getting million dollar bonuses knowing my elderly coworker is having to save up $60 to get her daughter the gift she wants when she works full time makes me want to start killing rich people with my bare hands. like i'm sorry I can't sit around and act like this should be normal just because it is. the way corporations are run is fundamentally terrible. it's not even just wages, like the entire fucking thing is built to create as much suffering as possible, shareholders and all

Some of the losses from the past couple of days

The battlefield has changed to more closely resemble the first days of the invasion when the IDF was incapable of advancing and holding ground, except now they're taking heavy losses because they've gone too deep into the Gaza Strip. The soldiers are more vulnerable than they've ever been.

Battalions like the one below are leaving Gaza cause they've taken too many hits

Meanwhile the Palestinian resistance grows stronger with militants from Syria, Lebanon, etc reportedly entering the Gaza Strip to join the fight

So strong in fact that it is once again dictating the terms of negotiations

Anonymous asked:

how would you help someone break free from zionism? (please serious answer i'm panicked)

my family isnt zionist so i havent really had to argue with them about palestine and so idk if i can give you perfect advice on how to talk to someone whos close to you about this, maybe some of my followers can add stuff

but still ill say this, (if theyre jewish) a big part of it is the emotional connection people have in light of the history of the holocaust, and like a visceral feeling of fear, which is purposefully imprinted onto peoples communities. so i think dismantling all the myths that israel has specifically about the holocaust and jewish safety might make them question this? its unfortunate but i think a lot of zionists wont react well if you talk about the amount of violence and dispossession palestinians face just because theyve already been dehumanized in their mind, and they genuinely feel that these people want to kill them for being jewish, and israel is the only way to ensure jewish safety, so you have to get past that first. im not sure what their perspective is on israel and why theyre a zionist, so idk. but showing people that israel is not actually protecting jews, its protecting european and american interests in the region and was supported by europeans literally as a solution to their "jewish question", especially with the vast amounts of jewish holocaust survivors in refugee camps in europe for years after the war. like ask the question why do all these european governments put tons of financial and military aid to israel instead of helping their jewish diaspora communities thrive and attract people to them? why do they actually make things harder for jews and have shitty convoluted policies for european jews who were expelled to return, but also support israel? is this something thats really good for us? also learning about how apathetic and even pro nazi america was during ww2, and how much holocaust revisionism they engage in to make themselves look historically better and twist their reasons for supporting israel, really made me feel like the us government line on israel is just ridiculous hypocrisy. ive made some posts about this which ill try to find

this post i reblogged has a lot of info dismantling stuff about israel and theres another post i saw that ill add to this too. i would also look in mondoweiss and jewish currents for articles about judaism and zionism. this article is good and might not be something you can directly send to this person but maybe the ideas in it will be useful to you
