do not consider short-run painkillers prescribed for specific instances like a surgery or a major injury unless it’s a norm for you, use your own metric for that
so far this is crazy to me. nearly 40% of you take a painkiller once a month or less? we arent all in pain every day?

I’ve never been so invested in anything in my life
of all Riccardo Estli's compositions, I think his "Katya's Waltz" from the Goncharov score is one of his most beautiful
OH YOU SNEAKY—
The way I was like “oh that’s a pretty composition what’s the joke?” And didn’t even recognise it
I had a tattoo client ask if I ever used AI to design tattoos for me. Man I spent the better part of a decade doing shitty bit work as a graphic designer and now that I have the space to do whatever I want, I'm gonna let the computer generate random garbage for me? What next should I have a computer that eats my dinner and fucks my wife?
I feel like people get so hung up on the results of a thing that they don't appreciate that the process of making it is, actually, enjoyable.
It's like if you have a friend who likes to bake, asking if they'd like to just buy cupcakes from the store instead of making them. The end result of the cupcake is secondary to the joy you get from having made cupcakes.
Art isn't a slog or a chore or something I want to avoid. Art is fun. It's rewarding. It feels good to do it. You may as well be asking me if I want the AI to watch television for me, it doesn't make any sense, I'm not participating and would gain nothing from it.

fucking hate it when the stuff everybody says "actually works" does actually work.
hate exercising and realizing i've let go of a lot of anxiety and anger because i've overturned my fight-or-flight response.
hate eating right and eating enough and eating 3 times a day and realizing i'm less anxious and i have more energy
hate journaling in my stupid notebook with my stupid bic ballpoint and realizing that i've actually started healing about something once i'm able to externalize it
hate forgiving myself hate complimenting myself more often hate treating myself with kindness hate taking a gratitude inventory hate having patience hate talking to myself gently
hate turning my little face up to the sun and taking deep breaths and looking at nature and grounding myself and realizing that i feel less burdened and more hopeful, more actually-here, that i am able to see the good sides of myself more clearly, that i am able to see not only how far i have to grow - but also how much growth i have already done & how much of my life i truly fill with light and laughter and love
horrible horrible horrible. hate it but i'm gonna do it tho

It's been a while since I tried glow effects, but I saw the fireflies and I couldn't resist.

in light of israel's looming invasion on rafah, south africa implored the icj to call for the protection of palestinians with new preliminary orders. the icj denied this request, insisting that its january orders would be sufficient enough in ensuring the safety of people residing in rafah.
we have all seen how israel responded to the icj verdict earlier this month. they have all but intensified their attacks on palestinians, their favorite of whom seem to be children. this will end in a bloodbath. palestinians, already malnourished and living in literal tents, will be bombarded, they will be shot, they will be slaughtered. and when i say palestinians, a lot of them are actual toddlers. the videos coming out of this are proof enough.
at this point, it has been made amply clear that palestinians will never experience safety in their own homeland. a lot of the families in gaza are trying to raise funds to get out of it, because there's nowhere left to go.
there is nowhere left to go. if these people don't get the funds necessary to escape, they will die.
it's vital that you go to operation olive branch's spreadsheet, choose a family that resonates with you, and donate as much as you can to their gofundme. every last dollar counts. one dollar could be the difference between life and death for a family. please don't fall victim to the bystander effect. your contribution counts, however little it may be. and whether you're able to donate or not, spread this to as many people as you can. each second we stay silent is a second an entire family is brutally massacred.
to put things into perspective--just yesterday it was reported that 112 palestinians were killed, and 157 were left injured. in the last 24 hours. this is quite literally time-sensitive down to the last second. i would not be able to sleep at night knowing i lived through a literal genocide and did absolutely nothing about it.
that post going around where op is like "I love having sex with my friends, a fine and normal thing to do" and the notes are filled with people going absolutely fucking nuclear melting into goo screaming about how "hookup culture" is disgusting... genuinely what's going on there
the replies do have some "what is this liberal degeneracy" (lmao) but it seems to be predominantly other queer people making what they clearly think are very enlightened leftist arguments about how sexualizing your friends is wrong and how they, personally, would never have sex with a friend and man it's exhausting. we are never getting free of anything if you can't even get a grip on you knee jerk disgust towards other people's completely harmless sexual practices.
I've seen a lot of sentiment across both the original post and now mine that boils down to people expressing support for having sex with friends in the ground that it's superior to having sex with someone you just met and have no pre-existing connection with and nope. uh uh. if that's your personal preference rock on but "better for you" is not the same as "better objectively." fucking a friend and fucking someone you barely know are both morally neutral acts. we can't support boning your friends in the grounds that it's better than xyz other types of sex that it's okay to dunk on; you should be supporting both on the grounds that other people's bodily autonomy and sexual choices are really none of your business.
Posts that make you scared you cracked your phone screen
also it makes me sad that so many supposed leftists think the answer to 'there is an imbalance in who suffers and who doesn't" is "redistribute the suffering to the people I don't like", not "try to make it so no one has to suffer"
It's extremely punitive-justice oriented but they'd have a ragefit if you told them how carceral their logic is
I get what you're saying and 99.99% agree but I do think people like Elon Musk should be made to suffer, or Jeff Bezos, probably Donald Trump. Like 3 people
Then you don't get my point.
Someone else want to take this? I'm really sick today (chronic illness life) and have limited patience right now for other reasons.
No I get your point, I just disagree 0.01%
No. You don't.
(Sorry if I'm short; as I said, lack of patience.)
Wanting people to suffer is a thought, and I'm not in the business of prosecuting people for thought crimes. However, there is a HUGE, MASSIVE, GAPING DISTANCE between fantasizing about horrible people suffering and actively believing horrible people should be made to suffer.
If your "leftist" praxis make exceptions for people you consider sufficiently bad enough to no longer be worthy of human rights, you are in favor of dehumanizing people who disagree with you.
This is a fucked up, authoritarian, carceral viewpoint that serves to prop up punitive/retributive justice.
Hope this clears it up.
So yeah, I get your point, thanks for proving that to me yet again. Sorry not sorry that I think the people actively contributing to the suffering of millions if not billions of people and actively delighting in that suffering should actually be punished for their actions rather than this forgive and forget bullshit that some people think will solve anything.
Fellas is it authoritarian to want to topple capitalism and see the people in power held responsible for their actions and lack of care for basic human life and dignity?
Fellas is it progressive to conflate "holding someone responsible for their actions" and "making them suffer"?
Blocked, hope this helps someone else :)
Just say you want to make people suffer. Stop pretending your desire to hurt others is social justice.
This is what I've been screaming at people for the past 6 months and even longer.
You can want the people who hurt you, the people who direct the machine that keeps you oppressed to suffer, to receive horrible pain, to die, to be killed.
There is no such thing as a thought crime.
Homicidal ideation is morally neutral. Yes, I said it.
That being said, if your actual politics is that of "punish the wrongdoers" in any way, your politics is fundamentally broken.
Say you are actually discerning in your targets. Say you actually find the people in charge of the oppressive strictures and kill them. Not only does that not solve the problem, but by making your politics of punishment, you are fundamentally reactionary.
Anti-punitive justice and anti-carceralism are necessary components in any liberatory movement, because the presence of carceralism and punitive ideology (and therefore authoritarianism) will erode any revolutionary movement, no matter how noble its stated ideology, into a reactionary core that ultimately imitates the oppressive system it overthrew. (see: every single Marxist-Leninist state ever).
THANK YOU.
Genuinely, thank you. You get it. You get me. This is the point I was making, worded more eloquently and with less bile. I deeply appreciate you. 💜
You aren't a morally correct person for just wanting the "right people" to be under the boot & your foot to be in the boot.
We aren't free until nobody is under the boot.
Nobody.
It is really really telling how that person can't see the difference between "justice" and "retribution."
If a system exists, it can be manipulated. If the rules of the judiciary are adjusted to (miraculously) only ever target people that actively & knowingly spread suffering, that means that the rules can be changed & adjusted again because the system is still in place. It will never be a fully safe and secure society if a carceral system of any kind is still in place. You want people to no longer suffer under a boot, it's best to get rid of the boot than to be stuck constantly on guard in case there's someone under the boot (because you're never going to be in time to save them all the time).
You want to imagine a monster tap dancing on the spine of some bastard while magic stops it from hurting anyone else? Go for it, but I'm sorry to say that there's no monster tamable enough and no where near enough magic in the universe to stop it from also hurting others.
not proshipper not anti but a secret third thing (person who has a career in the media and, through covering legislative politics, has watched "associating with problematic fiction or entertainment is an indicator of moral degeneracy" rapidly become a mainstream GOP position that they are encoding in legislation to target the queer community under the guise of protecting children, thus coming to the conclusion that positioning the "can people enjoy things that would be immoral IRL in their fiction" debate as a proship v anti fandom debate is akin to pretending that "should we have the death penalty" is a discussion that only matters in Death Note discourse — the extent and manner to which fiction affects reality is an issue that is immediately relevant to today's US politics, and to summarize my opinions on the matter in fandom terms would be to diminish the ways this debate is affecting america Right The Fuck Now. and i have stopped taking "this person is bad for shipping the wrong anime thing and being horny about it" in any sort of good faith ever since I saw it literally used as part of a GOP smear campaign against a transgender state legislator in an attempt to defend the right from backlash after they used their supermajority in the Montana house to prevent her from speaking on the floor. Anyway I think everyone on this site, especially Americans, could benefit from ceasing to think in proship v anti vocabulary and instead developing coherent political positions on the nature of fiction that do not directly align with current fascist political tactics)
and yes, this does pretty much align with the "proshipper" position — to be clear, i'm firmly in the camp that it's literally fine to ship whatever and engage in fiction however you want and people are not morally wrong for making art that engages, even gleefully or pornographically, in dark topics. the reason i still choose to not call myself a proshipper is for a few reasons:
-there are so many different implications under that umbrella, and i resent the dichotomy that reduces so many different positions on so many different aspects of media studies to two different labels. such a framing actively stifles discussion and prevents people from having tough and thorny conversations about media with people they mostly agree with
-i think "proshipper" is only a useful positional label for people whos primary mode of engagement with media is through fandom. but as a journalist and queer person, the main ways in which the "does fiction affect reality and how" issue interfaces with my life have nothing to do with fandom, so it feels backwards to me to define my opinions regarding media in relation to the area that has the least relevance to my life
-i want my actual opinions to be the most visible part of how i engage with fandom, rather than a label that will cause everyone to draw nuance-stripped conclusions that vary depending on which "side" they fall on. i want people to listen to me, not project their expectations onto me and listen to a phantom of me they've created
-why should i? if people are willing to engage with me regarding media discussion, it shouldn't matter whether i choose to identify as a proshipper or not — they should treat my ideas on their own merits. and if people think that i'm a sick freak for "condoning" whatever is problematic these days, they're not going to care what i call myself, they're going to call me a sick freak anyways. and im kinda petty and want them to actually have to read my posts and rub two braincells together to interpret things and think critically about how to label me instead of seeing "proship" and slamming the cancel button
