I don't front for long, but I front often. And the reason for that is my system could do literally anything, but very specific situations, poses, words, phrases, might make them snap into a weird state where they feel like despite being here, they mentally and emotionally never go out of the situation we were in many, many years ago. Sometimes, it feels like they go back to it. They understand they're still in the present, but their emotions and mindset is back.

For the longest time we didn't know that was an emotional flashback. And honestly, don't see people talking about it much, so let me make it clear:

Emotional flashbacks can be anything if your emotions, mental state, or mindset are back to your past.

That could include getting triggered, and instead of a flashback, you only feel emotions you felt during that situation. And sometimes, you feel like it's not right, why are you having those emotions? Start looking for it, and only then get a flashback.

That could mean accidentally gaining your mindset back for a few seconds due to very specific triggers. And you may not even get a flashback, the memories might be heavily suppressed! And you'll be confused about why it happened and why it passed so quickly.

Sometimes, when memories are suppressed so much, you can't get flashbacks, but you're still triggered, it's the emotions that are being brought back. Imagine your memory like an orange (fruit). And your brain is suppressing it, so it's squeezing it as much as possible, and all you get from it is juice. The juice is your emotions.

They happen more often than you realize! Every trigger you experience that isn't followed by a flashback could be counted as an emotional flashback.

Most important thing to realize is, when registering you are having an emotional flashback – don't go looking for memories. It's not worth it! More often than not, it's easier to deal with an emotional flashback rather than a memory one! It's not the full scale of what bothers you (because you have only the orange juice and not the orange itself, which is heavier, and while the juice is sticky and nasty sometimes, there are ways of washing it off) and your soothers, caretakers, and/or protectors would probably take care of it quicker.

You got this!

An important aspect to understanding conservative lines of thinking in terms of human diversity and nature as a whole is this: To the conservative, nature is Fundamental and Unchanging - nature is a simple, one-track answer, with no nuance, and no room for any complexity.

This is why it might come across hypocritical that conservatives might cry out the importance of recognizing "science and biology!" if you don't understand their worldview. It isn't hypocricy to them because they fundamentally view science, biology, and nature as Simple. If the science is not "simple," then it is not true.

So, for example, a conservative will cry out how important it is to recognize that there are only two human sex chromosomes (XX or XY), hence, there are only two possible genders. If you point out the vast variety of human sex chromosome combinations (XXY, X, just to name two different ones), it won't register - it isn't in line with the "simplicity" of nature. Nature must be seamless and divine - if there is any "error," then it isn't Nature. It doesn't matter that some people naturally do not have XX or XY chromosomes, it's still Unnatural. Nature itself is political in this way, it lines up with there being Natural (right) humans, and Unnatural (wrong) humans.

The very concept of Nature has become a sort of divinity to some, but when we deify such impersonal concepts we tend to miss looking at the whole richly complex and detailed picture in favor of an artificial abstraction, a simplification that has very little (if any) basis in reality. This leads to rather black and white thinking, and can easily become the sort of puritanical ideology we are seeing now within American conservatism, one that focuses on separating the pure (Natural) from the wicked (un-Natural). This is all too conveniently couched in a background of Christianity, since Nature can be equated with God, and vice-versa.

And from there it is effortless to separate the anthropomorphized ideological concept of Nature from the pre-existing thing, free of human assumptions and biases, that is called nature. Lower-case nature, in all its complicated and multifaceted and perfectly imperfect existence. But such diverse and changeable intricacy found in nature does not easily fit with the set-in-stone purity and rigid sort of perfection that are characteristics of contrived Nature. (This also mirrors their thought-patterns: one may find that many conservatives are quite rigid and inflexible in their thought processes, closed off to new experience and perceptions).

So when those who seek to oppress LGBTQ people speak of what is 'right' and 'natural', they do not speak utilizing the exact same concepts that others use. This distortion of terms is how they repackage their self-important conceit and desire for control over others into more palatable language for their followers to parrot. Most, I suspect, do this unconsciously, not knowing that the Nature of which they speak is not the same as nature.

I do think there is a difference between how men and women are socialized to express emotions but I cannot STAND when men twist that to imply that little girls are never told to “stop crying” or women just have a peachy easy time expressing emotion while men are forced to suffer in silence. Like literally women and girls are CONstantly told that we’re hysterical and overdramatic and irrational for expressing emotion and we explicitly get taken less seriously than men do when we express emotion. Be for real.

It is a special kind of evil and sexist that toxic ppl have overblown the struggle men have with things like “boys don’t cry.” We have empathy and acknowledge that struggle and agreed that it needs to be talked about!! …But then too many of them turn around and act like they have it *worse* than women and spread the lie that women are “allowed” to be emotional.

Meanwhile, women have always been punished for being emotional. And, often we are punished in *actual systematic ways.* It is women who were sent away to abusive mental wards for being “hysterical.” It is women who have been denied government power or any kind of leadership role based on being “too emotional.” It is women who are treated like “crazy bitches” when they finally crack after suffering silently under abusive family or partners. Men as a class — throughout all history and all cultures — have never been barred from power, money, and leadership for being “emotional.” :/

It is so beyond frustrating to hold space for the way patriarchy hurts men, only for some ppl to manipulate this into covering up women’s systematic oppression. And they completely miss how this is a common sexist tactic!! That even some self-proclaimed activists fall for! Men’s pain is always taken more seriously than women’s! We even have proof of this when talking about literal physical pain, because DOCTORS do this too! It’s feminism 101 😭

Last week the energy union in France turned off the power to one of Macron's ministers' offices in solidarity with those protesting the raising retirement age, and this week they made the bills to low income households zero. They took power from the politicians and gave it to the poor. This is what the fuck I'm talking about, we cannot let fiscal capital colonise our minds to the extent that we think that the only way to redistribute and shift the balance of power is by giving people money. The union is showing the power it has by taking energy - literally power - from the rich and giving it to the poor. The rest of the world should be taking notes

Queer history is not and has never been, a history of tragedies. As someone who has studied it for over seven years, take it from me, there are moments of joy, laughter, and community to find all throughout it.

I truly believe that one of the big barriers that stop young queer people from learning their history is fear. I won't say that fear is unwarranted. There is injustice, heartbreak, and deep true sadness to be found in queer history. But that is not the sum of it.

Just as queer people have been hurt, betrayed, and oppressed, we have also been loved, treasured, and revered. Queerness is not and has never been universally despised. And when society hates us, we make community still. There is beauty in queer history, even in the more painful parts. It takes a level of bravery to open yourself up to that, but I think it is more than worth it.

TFW I can't even afford necessities like food, gas, clothes for work, my nerve damage meds, toiletries, medical & mental health appointments, or even laundry detergent right now 🫠🫠🫠

Long story, but I'll try to shorten it the best I can: So, my brother-in-law has been actively fucking over my wife and me because he decided he didn't like his job anymore and stopped going. He didn't tell us for a week that he "quit" either. And since he was out of a job, we had to cover his rent + utilities. He didn't pay rent 2 months ago and paid only about a 1/4 of the rent last month. I'm so tired... But we can't kick him out because rent is SO high here, and I legitimately can't find a smaller place for a lower price than what we pay now. It's just god damn exhausting... And on top of that, my wife and I are about to hit full-on burnout from our job because our coworkers don't wanna do their damn jobs 🙃

If you wanna help out some lil nonbinary lesbians, we'd very much appreciate it. I'm trying to get some items we need from places like Buy Nothing (free stuff) groups on Facebook, but we're still struggling. PLEASE donate if you can, and PLEASE reblog this if you see it! TIA 💛

So, I also recently got fired from my job due to transphobic/homophobic discrimination. It's a long-ish story that I can't post on here right now as I'm trying to get some legal advice on it... I'll tell you all when I can, if I can. For now, please help if you can and if you're willing! Please reblog, too!

I’m putting together a book of all the short comics I’ve drawn over the past year to have for sale at my spring conventions! Not sure what the title will be yet, but the uniting themes of all the stories seem to be Girls and Magic.

I drew this selkie comic really fast and it bounced all around tumblr which was cool, but the messy lettering and simple coloring bugged me so I cleaned it up a bit.

THIS IS SO WHOLESOME

You know how transphobes often say things like “When they dig up your bones in the future, they’re gonna see your sex, not your gender”?

That’s actually not quite accurate. The most common bone used to identify sex is the pelvis, which is in fact quite static and remains relatively unchanged after puberty. However, the chest is quite flexible, and changes often throughout a person’s life due to several activities. And the chest is also used for sex identification of human remains.

Many lifestyle changes affect the structure of your chest, such as weightlifting, javelin throwing, and… hormone replacement therapy! Estrogen and testosterone supplements change the chest in ways that are closer to a person of your gender identity, to the extent that a forensic scientist could potentially identify you as transgender simply looking at your bones.

Trans people have trans skeletons!

I’m reading a book written by a forensic anthropologist where she recounts some of her most interesting cases. In the early 2000s, she was recruited to investigate some human remains in Scotland. The skeleton had a pelvis that was phenotypically male. However, the chest showed signs of prolonged use of estrogen supplements.

She concluded that the skeleton she was looking at was that of a transgender woman. And she was right! A scientist who had never met this woman managed to honour her gender identity, and she was correctly buried with her chosen name.

The book is called Written in Bone by Sue Black in case you want to read it!

Not every day has to count. Some days are for repairing, resting, mourning. You don't have to perform every day. Some days are for doing nothing. For sleeping all day or being on your phone. Relaxing is ok, allowed and encouraged. Do what you need to do.

I know why "prefered pronouns" and "prefered name" were retired from the vocabulary (it's way more than a matter of preference) but in retrospect it feels like a successful psyop to make transphobes sound absolutely incoherent.

Griping about people having "prefered pronouns": legible, clearly indicates what they have a problem with (trans people existing and being respected), makes you a huge unreasonable asshole but one whose grievances can at least be parsed for some kind of meaning.

Griping about people just having "pronouns": Incoherent, you are angry at a part of speech. Old man yells at cloud moment. Your hatred is so blinding that you can't hide that you have no idea what you're talking about and you look like a child throwing a tantrum except a child has probably been in an english class recently enough to know what a pronoun is.

Anyway we should do this with more stuff. Let's just call transitioning puberty exclusively until we get right wing grifters saying that puberty is unnatural and if you've gone through it you're a freak on their shitty little youtube channels.

This is about Sci-Hub. yeah we get it.. gatekeep knowledge and protect the interests of capital…

Listen, this is serious.

Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!

It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.

Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.

So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?

Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.

Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.
