Anonymous asked:

hello. I've noticing you more and more around the sambucky fandom and i have been loving your stuff so far. but I noticed you have no pronounce or name in your bio and im s bit lost as how to refer to you. if you are uncomfortable about answering this then please don't and im sorry

Hi, anon! I've been around the fandom for awhile now (though I know I'm fairly new compared to a lot of people here!) but it's nice to be noticed. Thank you for enjoying the stuff I've put out so far, it means a lot to me!

One of these days I'll probably have to update my tumblr description since I know a lot of people use tumblr on mobile only but I do have an about page here if you want to know more about me!

It's pretty easy to find if you look at my tumblr through a browser (mobile or desktop) or on a computer but I know not everyone bothers or remembers to go that far.

I'm A-Chan but you can also call me Aya if that's easier to remember (it's a name my friend @ladygreyfist gave me, one I dearly love) but either one is fine. I'm definitely over the age of 21 (I won't actually give too many specific details of my exact age coz 1) internet privacy and 2) I had a stalker in high school and uh... I just keep safe habits just in case, so a lot of personal info about me is very vague or general) so if that bothers anyone, you are free to unfollow or etc. I won't be offended at all!

If you, or anyone else have any other questions, I do have an FAQ you can check out as well.

I hope that answers your question, anon! And you're totally cool in sending me this ask, I'm sure a few people have been wondering XD

EDIT: A friend of mine pointed out I can pin posts on desktop, and sure enough, I can, I just found out where so I’m gonna pin this post for now!

"You know, I was in the neighborhood, so..." "Bucky. You can visit my cat. It's okay." "RIGHT. Your cat." "I have a game night I'm hosting, though, so if you're coming, you're playing." "What." "This way, cat guy. Figaro awaits."

I was doodling something and I thought "Hey, this would be fun for  @sambuckylibrary’s SamBucky Summer Bingo 2023 event!" This doodle is for the “Game Night” prompt for the Delacroix card. It's an Modern AU where Sam is Cap and Bucky is an ornithologist who saved Figaro from a tree in the local park and developed a crush on Sam. Bucky accidentally gets invited to a game night with the Avengers rather than asking Sam out the next time they meet and shenanigans ensue 🥰

people will agree w posts about how we need to protect vulnerable people all day until they find out that it sometimes means they'll be mildly inconvenienced

this is about wearing masks to protect immunocompromised people by the way. if you don't wear one you are abandoning the vulnerable and risking other people's lives.

also, if you've stopped masking it's never too late to start again! it will make a difference, it will help others.

you cannot consider yourself a leftist or punk or whatever if you can't do the bare minimum for your disabled siblings and comrades

... so, Leverage?

That video is incredible, but the tag at the end is even better.

When all is said and done, of course the team outsmarts this rich guy trying to steal the heart. The young man who is supposed to get it in the first place gets the transplant. And at the very end Nate and the mark have one last conversation that ends this way:

"Well, Mr. Ford, it seems you've killed me after all."

"Oh, I didn't kill you. God killed you. I just made sure it took."

I think that more fanfiction should be written with the aim to tackle the original meaning of hanahaki. Because when the concept of hanahaki disease was originally created, it was intended to be a metaphor for suppressing one’s feelings.

Your feelings are this beautiful garden of flora inside of your chest. When you express how you feel honestly, you allow for it to grow freely. But when you hide how you feel out of fear of rejection, and try to make it smaller and smaller, the flowers become cramped inside of you, until you choke on your own feelings. Every flower you cough up is something you’ve felt, but refused to say.

The whole “dying” thing is intended to be more symbolic especially. You’re killing off bits and pieces of yourself and how you feel, because you’re afraid to express yourself.

It’s not really supposed to be, “The one I love doesn’t love me back, and I’m dying from it.” Rather, it’s more along the lines of, “Repressing your emotions is bad for you, and it’s better and healthier to express them freely, even when it’s scary.”

Which is to say that, one, the cure for the disease should be telling the person that you are in love with how you feel. How the other person feels about the person afflicted should have nothing to do with it, as the trope is meant to be about feeling your emotions unapologetically.

And that, two, it’s not an inherently romantic trope. Obviously, it has romantic applications, but it can be written for any situation where a character is hiding how they truly feel. This can include a refusal to address a specific trauma, a desire to indulge in something that they’re ashamed of, and even really practical things, like wanting to ask one’s boss for a higher position.

Although (as an aromantic person myself) I don’t agree with this conclusion about the trope, this application would also avoid people calling it arophobic. When the thing killing the character is a refusal to be honest with themselves, rather than an unrequited love, it’s on nobody’s hands but their own to save their life.

There are a ton of ways that this interpretation of the hanahaki disease could be applied in new and interesting ways in fanfiction, and I’d love to read what things people could come up with!

y'all are absolutely free to use tumblr however you please but I want redditors to know that they could, hypothetically, start a sideblog about a particular topic, add moderators to it, turn on submissions (and asks), make an "about" page laying out rules and such, and create a good tagging system. If you want it to be a bit more familiar.

everyone calling reddit social media is wrong

it's a forum and message board platform not social media it doesn't work like twitter or instagram or tiktok

and I think this is why everyone on tumblr is more accepting of their refugees and not twitters (besides the twitter refugees bringing old discourse back)

because tumblr is also not social media it's a blogging platform. both tumblr and reddit are similar in that they both reflect the internet of old, when forums and blogs and personal websites were more popular, a time when you didn't post about every little thing in your life, when you could be anonymous

and no matter how hard the ceos or the staff of either websites may try they can never fully transform into the next twitter or whatever without fundamentally changing what these websites are. which would be a death sentence

people aren't coming to these websites for social media, they're coming for the community, for the uniqueness, for the long discussions they can have without a character limit, for information, for anonymity. to browse the internet without feeling pressured into posting perfectly fake photos and stories about your life in a desperate attempt for likes and attention

reiterating because maybe we weren't clear the first time

reddit refugees, reblog art, don't repost it

if you really like someone's art, reblog it. you can do that by clicking the little looping arrows at the bottom of the post. this will make it so the art appears on your blog and shows up to your followers, but the op is still credited and given notes.

reposting does not give credit. and no, saying "artist is ___" as the caption doesn't count, unless you have permission given directly by the artist.

if you have a funny or pretty image on your phone that you saved from reddit, don't post it here on tumblr, because 99% of the time it came from tumblr. use a reverse image search to try and find the original tumblr post, and reblog that.

taking that extra five minutes to find the original post of an artist you love will absolutely brighten their day and make the entire world a better place.

please, I'm begging you. reblog art. don't repost it.
