hey all I feel like an ass for asking but i’m about $500 short on rent rn because I had to make a sudden move this month and until the old lease ends at the end of June I am paying for both my old and new place. My old apartment was unsafe—bugs, leaking pipes flooding my kitchen, stove shorted and almost electrocuted me 😖 any d*nations even just like a little bit would help

What's your embarrassing trek related story, I'll start. I actually thought, until not that long ago, that root beer wasn't a real thing and they invented it in ds9. I thought it was supposed to be an Earth thing but from the future. I wasn't until "Mug Root Beer" became a meme like a year ago that I realised it actually existed LMAO
When I was 6 years old playing Star Trek in the playground at school, I decided the Enterprise was named thusly because she was ENTERing space and would be a surPRISE for everyone they met
As an English/Spanish bilingual person who grew up with Mexican dialect, I misheard Weyoun's name as "huevón" when I was a child and legit thought this was his name. I chalked it up to them mispronouncing it because Anglos.
I figured it was a joke that he was a cowardly suck-up and that he was lazy/wouldn't rise up and stand against the Dominion. (Huevón is a sarcastic idiomatic insult meaning lazy. Literally means "big egg one", alluding to a concept of someone having big balls and no gumption to get up and move them.)
I was in my twenties when I finally figured out his name was Weyoun, not Huevón.

my first introduction to most of the trek characters and ships was thru my dad’s novelty christmas ornament collection. most of these were small and plastic but he also had a big, impressive glass bust of Q from encounter at farpoint. looks like this
