They call it LA Union Station because it's in LA and the train workers are unionized

They call it Baltimore Penn Station because it's in Baltimore and they write things down using Pens

They call it Peachtree station because it's in Atlanta and nobody knows how to name anything in that fucking city

They call it 30th street station because it's on the 30th street ever built in Philadelphia

Avatar

why do they call it grand central

Because the decorations are very grand and it is in the geographic center of the US

Avatar

They call it King Street Station because the King of Seattle owns the street it's built on.

^^^^

This is true, the king is a very nice lady though, don’t worry

down with kings, overthrow her

You're so right, the divine right of kings is a foolish notion and leadership belongs in the hands of the people

It's called the Boston North Station because it's in Boston and it's North of Beijing

What about NJ Penn station?

It's in New Jersey and it is built out of Pens

To all TV and movie producers out there, a heartfelt message to you:

STOP👏ADAPTING👏ORIGINAL👏WORKS👏IF👏YOU HATE👏THE SOURCE👏MATERIAL

The thing is: You really dont even NEED to be a fan of source material. Francis Coppola hated The Godfather(the book) when he first read it(although he did gain appreciation for the story as he worked on the film), Tim Burton was not a Batman fan when he was hired to direct the 1989 film.

However they took the material seriously, made an honest attempt to adapt it faithfully(Coppola even worked very closely with the author of the original book to make sure he was doing it right), and didnt publicly shit on the existing audience of fans of the source material.

The result was films that are respected, well remembered, and in the case of The Godfather, considered one of the best ever made.

“oh they’re not taking away chronological dashboard, well everything’s okay then” they also said in the post they’re making reblogs collapsed (like comments on twitter) so you won’t see the full conversation in a post. they also won’t get rid of tumblr live despite it being an annoying and cancerous data-miner that isn’t legal in much of the world. they won’t even let you opt out of tumblr live for more than seven days. they implemented a terrible photo viewer that mimics tiktok and makes it so you can’t zoom in on images. they took away the ability to view prev tags. they’re making it so you have to sign in with your email to view almost any thing on tumblr. they’ve already made it so you have to sign in to send asks, even on anon. they’re slowly phasing out custom blog themes.

the things that make tumblr at all usable and favored by us– the older web blog features, the anonymity– that is still being taken away. it HAS been being taken away for some time now. i am urging you people to reveiwbomb the tumblr app. force them to acknowledge that users do not like these changes.

i’m going to keep it real with you tumblr userbase… if we don’t want tumblr as we know it completely ruined you’re probably going to have to flood tumblr on the app store with 1-star reviews. we need to make their ANALYTICS hurt. we need to make management scared. we need to explain in those reviews exactly why we are mad. say what we don’t want changed (or do want changed back). i am so serious.

the tumblr app still currently sits at four stars, despite MASSIVE userbase and sitewide backlash to the current features and updates.

we need to change that.

The Archive is experiencing some issues (as many of you have noticed).

It looks like the Archive is under a DDoS attack causing the servers to fall over. Our volunteer sysadmins are working on countermeasures. Please be patient with us, we'll be back!

A DDoS attack is when an attacker attempts to knock a site offline by overwhelming it with requests. Data is not compromised in a DDoS attack, so there is no need to change your password at this time or worry about your works being lost.

A group presenting themselves as a collective of religiously and politically motivated hackers has claimed responsibility for the DDoS attack. This group has attacked other sites before, including those of government organizations and large corporations. However, cybersecurity experts do not believe the group is honest about their motivation, so we urge caution in believing any reasoning this group provides for targeting AO3.

As part of our efforts to help keep the site up, you might find that you get "Retry later" errors more often when searching or filtering works or bookmarks. Don't worry, just go a little slower, or try again in a few minutes! These are temporary measures. Normal use of the site is fine -- you don't have to avoid using AO3 if it's currently up for you.

Our volunteers are continuing to work hard on this issue! We appreciate your patience and support in the meantime.

We've changed our approach slightly, so you might now see error messages other than "Retry later," such as 429 (too many requests), 400 (bad request), or 503 (service unavailable).

Please do continue to access the site if it's up for you, and feel free to download some works for offline reading in case of further downtime!

We'd also like to take a moment to reiterate that cybersecurity experts believe the group claiming responsibility for the ongoing DDoS attack is lying about their affiliation and reasons for attacking websites. We strongly encourage you to be skeptical of any statements from this group.

we should never have let the tumblr askblog population get this dangerously low. Its really the perfect format for learning how to connect with other people on tumblr.
