Loyalty
The young child is incredibly loyal to anyone that shows him the same sentiment. He wants to see the good in people, despite his multiple encounters with terrible people. If you show him genuine kindness, you have a loyal friend. This isn’t necessarily a strength, but his loyalty is one of his strongest traits.
Memories
Because she died during his pregnancy, Gaara has no memories of his mother. He relies on the stories from his uncle and siblings. He’s internally conflicted because at times he feels disdain because both of his siblings have at least vague memories of the woman, but is content with the small amount of photos and stories he’s able to receive.

Oh this man looks SCARY. The Jinchuuriki feels even smaller than usual, suddenly worried about WHEN Yashamaru is going to come back.. “stay right here Gaara, i’ve got something important to do. don’t move from this spot.”
And that’s exactly what he plans to do, even if he can’t stop glancing upwards to stare at the strange man and fight nervously with his hands. Sand restless beneath feat due to nerves. but still...he points to an object in the sand near the man, “mister, you...dropped something, i think...”
The genie resisted the urge to giggle when she was greeted by the child’s astonished look. Gaara was so far the sweetest finder she ever had. And she felt treated like… like a living being than a servant.
She was really beginning to take a shine to Gaara.
❝ A surprise? What kind of surprise? ❞
“You’ve gotta close your eyes okay?”
He insists as he takes a little step back and kneels to dig into a tiny bag he had at his side. The child is full of excitement, he’s practically bouncing. He worked hard on this surprise and even got Yashamaru to help him. “And hold your hands out.”

As swift as a gust of wind, Sasuke had caught the clay pot that was thrown at the red headed boy. Interfering was a mistake; a risk he shouldn’t have took. That was evident by the angry protest from the adult that had thrown the pot in the first place. Yelling, berating, threats, they all pointed attention towards him which is the exact opposite of what he wanted, but then again he only had himself to blame for that.
Despite the threats, Sasuke stood his ground in front of Gaara, his cloak shifting slightly as he reached for his sword. But thankfully the berating man backed off once he realized Sasuke wasn’t going to move. The teen let out a breath, relieving a bit of tension before he glanced back at Gaara. It was always the orphans that got the worst of it, and Sasuke could sympathize with that plight completely.
He’s in AWE. Saying nothing, simply watching the strong shinobi stand his ground. He’s worried at first, that the scary man was going to stay around and pick a fight. The sand is still restless beneath him, only stilling when he was fully gone.
“W..why did you do that?” He repeats softly, brows are furrowed in confusion because he doesn’t quite understand. “You could’ve gotten hurt. That man was really mad..he could’ve...” Voice shakes as he looks up at the dark haired teen, almost in admiration. He wishes he were like that, he wishes he could be that powerful and confident. Maybe people wouldn’t pick on him so much. He hasn’t forgotten his manners though, and pulling himself down to reality, Gaara speaks again in an even quieter voice than before.
“But thank you.”

He will never get over the amazing scene of the genie coming from her lamp. Every time leaves him in a sense of childlike awe that shows clearly on his face. The child wastes no time in hugging her as soon as he’s able, greeting her with a bright smile.
“No, no wish.” He answers, trying to contain his excitement. “I have something, a surprise for you.”

He’d braced himself for the impact, eyes closed and hands up {sand already beginning to react towards his F E A R}, something being thrown at him by an adult who was less than happy with his presence.
But there was nothing, slowly opening his eyes to expect the worst {a corpse, blood, the usual aftermath of an altercation like this}, but instead there’s a figure before him. He’s shaking in FEAR. Is he in trouble?

“Soldan..” Soft voice TREMBLES, bright eyes look at the other with confusion and an emotion that causes tears to form.
It had come up because of something Yashamaru had mentioned, nothing bad, but a statement that made him THINK.
‘you want to protect those you care about Gaara.” He wanted to protect Soldan.
“But…you should.” Because he’s SCARED, he’s scared he’ll eventually lose control of his powers again and hurt her. “Everyone else does eventually, you might get hurt.” The last part is said in such a whisper it’s barely audible. “It’s okay, really… Attempting a false smile, he’s used to this, he’ll be fine.”

Love
Love is such a strange concept to the child, having first learned the concept from his uncle. Aside from Yashamaru, Gaara has never received actual paternal love, and though he does play alongside his siblings on the rare occasion it’s allowed, he feels deep down that they FEAR him more than love him. And so Gaara is prone to loving/trusting anyone that gives him even the smallest bit of affection and love.
Laugh
He’s hesitant to laugh out loud sometimes. Loud noises bother him as well as too much talking/emotional expression had been discouraged by his father, so he’s learned to keep things like that to himself. So when something makes him laugh, he tries to stifle it, cover his mouth or keep it contained, even apologizing if he feels it’s disrupted something. Gaara has a soft, joyful laugh that tends to make those around him smile as well
