a field of sunflowers somehow matches the color in hobis eyes and yoongis in love
Lilies means magnificence and beauty. They are often used for weddings, a combination of white and pink to express the innocence of the bride, sometimes with even a petal hidden behind the strands of her hair.
Peonies means bashfulness and compassion. Peonies were names in honor of Paeon, the physicians of the gods; they welcome summer with pink or red petals, lawning the ground of the gardens of one’s neighbors with grace.
Daisies are simple yet sophisticated and are probably some of the most beautiful flowers in the floral world. Daisies convey cheer and exuberance in spades and not surprisingly, daisies are popular both for gifting and growing in gardens, perfect for hiding secrets.
Hoseok’s favorite flowers are sunflowers. He likes the form of it, don’t ask him why, he wouldn’t be able to find a proper answer to the question. He likes the smell of it, how they remind him of his grandmother’s house, back in Gwangju. He can clearly picture the vast bouquet of sunflowers carefully posed on the dining table, always seeking for a hint of sunlight which his grandfather would have delicately formed when picking the flowers at the end of their very large and very big garden. He would even dare to say the bouquet grew bigger each time around.
It’s way too hot for it to be the end of March. The snow is long gone, and the winter packed its bags to leave the place to the sweet weather of spring. Luckily, the sun is setting and soon, it’ll be cool enough for him to breath again.
They are filming for whatever, Hoseok can’t really remember, actually. What he knows, is that he hasn’t slept since they landed the plane in the large city of Osaka, and that was twenty-two hours ago. The landscape is beautiful, it could be a reason for Hoseok to stay awake and admire how the reflecting light of the sunset is delicately making that flied of sunflowers literally glow, though he can’t bring his eyes to stay focused and opened.
He can hear Yoongi’s laugh, far, far away and he wonders how can someone who’s usually so prone in loving the calm could have such a loud laugh. It’s a bit weird because, habitually, Hoseok is the one to chase around his friends, plant kisses around their necks just to annoy them just so they can think about something else but the way their feet are close to collapse on them due to exhaustion. But it seems like today, Yoongi may be willing to lift off that weight from his shoulders, just so he can rest a little while longer.
“Hey,” a soft voice came to disturb his almost-slumber and he doesn’t have to think much before recognizing it as Yoongi’s. Hoseok still opens one eye, arms crossed over his chest as he mumbles something incoherent under his breath. The sun is reflecting on Yoongi’s neon-blue hair in a strange manner, though the way just the tiniest of smiles adores his face is enough for Hoseok to open his second eye, intrigued. “We’re gonna start shooting again.”
Once again, Hoseok mumbles something that Yoongi can’t quite decipher but maybe it has something to do with the wind blowing between them or because Jimin’s loud shriek just echoed through the field. Yoongi is still kneeled in front of Hoseok’s plastic chair, though it should be the cue for him to get up and leave. However, he laces his fingers with the younger’s, thought Yoongi isn’t dragging him up and away with him with a cute chuckle yet.
Instead, he keeps his eyes locked on the younger’s sleepy face, a dumb smile at the corner of his lips. “What?” Hoseok wonders, holding back a yawn that he knew wouldn’t be much graceful.
Yoongi’s grin grew louder, and Hoseok could have swore he heard that mischievous chuckle Yoongi always does when he prepares to do something Hoseok is never sure about – it’s only then he notices the elder is suspiciously hiding something behind his back. Suddenly and before he had the chance to denounce that last point out, a large yellow something blocked his view.
He had to blink exactly three times before his brain finally succeeded in understanding what lied before him. Yoongi was holding proudly the most gigantic single sunflower Hoseok has ever seen, so bright and so clean it had the sun’s reflection blinding him for a good few moments. “Hobi-yah, look, it’s you.” Yoongi murmured amused, now his chuckle quickly transforming in that loud laugh of his.
The flower’s color is somehow(Hoseok has never been good with physics nor was he ever very fond of how worked the settling mysteries of the world) twinning with the light in Yoongi’s irises. There’s a spark of fire, desire and love mixing in that single look that has Hoseok’s breath shorter and his heart to pounce faster against his ribcage.
He hates this as much as he loves it. The hair at the back of his neck rises and every time he sees Yoongi, it’s like he’s never seen him before. He stares and stares again, and he needs help to get out of his trance because it’s starting to be long, now. And when he finally does, Hoseok takes the flower in his hands, stuttering on his own tongue and Yoongi wouldn’t be able to restrain the laugh escaping his lips even if he wanted to. “A sunflower?”
“To match your eyes.” Cheesy. Romantic. Easy, even. Maybe. In any way, it’s a success to make Hoseok’s heart to flutter and Yoongi couldn’t possibly label this move as being romantic, but it is, to Hoseok, at least. And it’s funny because, to each other, that sunflower match each other’s eyes and maybe their own pair of eyes belong to one another – maybe they both have that spark that only says, ‘I am yours and you are mine’. Maybe, just maybe, this is them and they are one.
Hoseok and Yoongi. Yoongi and Hoseok.
