It's Spooky Month,BOIS

I don’t think any other LI should have had a positive relationship with MC is Lucio’s route. Not that MC doesn’t have the potential to be a good person or to change Lucio for the better. BUT Lucio is the reason Asra grew up an orphan, he abused Julian when he hadn’t found the cure fast enough, Nadia is terrified of him. He was dismissive of her ideas when he wanted to marry her to have her help him rule the city. Muriel and Julian aren’t even in his route. Lucio is the source of trauma for all the LI’s and regardless of MC it isn’t realistic to expect them to forgive him. He forced Muriel to fight in the colosseum. “But Muriel could have left any time he wanted,” yeah. He could have. If he didn’t think leaving would lead to Asra being in danger. The only LI who wasn’t directly traumatized by Lucio is Portia. And considering her friendship with Nadia and how much she loves her brother….I don’t think she’d be to keen on the count. And look, I don’t care if you love Lucio, good for you, I’m glad you have a character you like. I just think MC should have been lonelier because they made themself unsafe for the others to be around. I wouldn’t be okay if my best friend started dating my abuser, I wouldn’t want to be friends with them anymore. You know what they did to me and you go date them anyways? Then yeah, you’re not a safe person for me anymore. I don’t even know if this counts as unpopular but I will tag it that way anyways

seriously don’t understand what is wrong with urban planners in the united states and canada. does anyone actually genuinely think that this shit:

looks like anything but an absolute nightmare? like this is what hell looks like to me

This IS an absolute nightmare, but this isn’t urban planning. It’s real estate development. Some company buys a bunch of land and conspires to put as many detached single-family homes on it as possible, builds them cheap (cutting corners CONSTANTLY), and then sells them at inflated rates. It fucks up the housing market for miles around, all the houses are identical but broken in different and fun ways, and nobody is actually happy except the developer who made a bunch of money while cheating everyone else involved.

i stand corrected! my real question is “what is wrong with real estate developers” and the answer is “capitalist brain poison” as always

And it is said that the Princess returned to her father’s kingdom. That she reigned there with justice and a kind heart for many centuries. That she was loved by her people. And that she left behind small traces of her time on Earth, visible only to those who know where to look.

Pan’s Labyrinth / El laberinto del fauno (2006) dir. Guillermo del Toro

This is literally the most heart warming story I have read on Twitter so far. I think this is exactly what friends should do, and I feel everyone deserves people like this.

A barn rasing:  a collective action of a community, in which a barn for one of the members is built or rebuilt collectively by members of the community.

because you cannot, you CANNOT, build a barn on your own, and without it, you will not be able to survive.

What a fuckin’ gem of a sentence. “What we did today was a barn rasin”

When my kids were babies I knew they'd be wearing a lot of hand-me-downs and thrifted stuff, because frankly that's the only sensible way to dress young children. Anything else is gonna cost an arm and a leg for shit they'll outgrow in three months and then you'll spend $50 on some cute set they refuse to wear and it's just pointless angst. My daughter wore hand me downs from the neighbor boys for most of her first year because the ages worked out.

So I made a conscious decision to always frame that positively. Going to the thrift store is awesome because it's like a shopping spree every time, Mama will say yes to nearly anything, which is clearly superior to going to Target and being permitted one cute t-shirt and some socks. Hand me downs are even better because they have a history with people you love. And passing stuff down yourself is maybe the best of all, because then you get to see little cuties wearing things you once enjoyed, and enjoy them all over again.

And that attitude has really taken root in the family and been a very positive thing. I love that my computer is made up of me parts but also hand me downs from not one but two different people, carefully crafted into a whole that's much more than would have been reasonable to spend otherwise. The used parts are still really good, because they came from people who really prioritize their equipment, so they went from "good" to "top of the line" but they knew that "good" was still way better than I had. And the fact that three people collaborated to make something that would suit my needs and optimized their money makes me feel loved by smart people.

So yes, I do know that there's a stigma against buying used stuff, but I invite you to consider: that is stupid and also wrong. Used stuff is great.

My mom had a friend who's daughter was a little older than my sister and I and every year or so, my mom would bring home a massive trash bag or even two trash bags saying 'Girls, we have more clothes from April' (name changed obv)

We'd go through the trash bags of clothes and were amazed at how much there was. We'd each try them on and pick the ones we liked. What we didn't want to wear, we sent to goodwill. It was awesome. If you can do that for someone or take advantage of someone doing it for you, please do.

Hand me downs are one of the best ways for a community to show love for each other.

This is where it's at, yeah.

I think toy doctors are so nice actually like i remember being a little heartbroken kid when one of my beloved stuffed animals got old and torn up and my mom just threw him out. And i know what it would have meant to me, to have someone lovingly stitch him back up instead so i could love him just a little longer. And I’m really glad there are little kids out there who get to see pictures of their stuffed animals and dolls with little fake hospital beds and casts as they “rest & heal” before returning to them good as new. Like what a sweet thing to do with your life.

This is so nice 🥺

It’s also so good for normalising the idea of illness, hospitals and recovery not being bad or scary places, even if sometimes they’re not very nice, because the people there are doing kind things to make you better so you can go back home. No one knows which kids are going to end up dealing with major traumatic illnesses or injuries, and having a safe framework for the idea of a hospital, a safe, painless, vicarious hospital experience is such valuable preparation

Never forget that the War on Drugs was fabricated to criminalize certain communities.

The quickest descent into fascism occurs when the criminalization of innocent, nonviolent activities is combined with a surveillance state to “clean up crime”.

It’s also very important to look at how these laws are used.

For the laws criminalizing pot, white people (usually youth) often get off with a slap on the wrist, but BIPOC get harsh sentences, including prison time. Same goes for traffic offences (including DUI). Also laws for loitering, gangs and so on are used much more often against BIPOC - people are being denied their freedom of movement or just being allowed to be out in public without being afraid of being arrested.

Stop removing Lady Dimitrescu’s wrinkles and stretch marks/scars/blemishes. Stop making her super skinny, because clearly she is not. Stop de-aging Lady Dimitrescu. She is a mature woman and her wrinkles/blemishes are part of her beauty. Literally stop removing those features.

This is not a new one {it’s from 06/19/2020} but honestly? Same.

[image description: video of a man in boxers, pouring coffee into a cup as he says, “Everyone’s talking about top energy this, bottom energy that.”

He slams down the coffee pot and mug on the counter, and flails his hands as he talks. “I just want energy: top, bottom, east, west, shoulders, knees and toes.” He slams his palms on the counter, and says “I don’t give a damn. I’m just tired.”

this is 100% why i never fucked with that “normcore” nonsense and why i’m still extremely self-conscious about what i wear and how my clothes fit, even after my weight loss. wearing “normal” clothes only becomes “fashion” when it’s on skinny attractive people and once it’s on a fat person it’s suddenly the trappings of the tacky and the unwashed poors. fuck out of here. you can make anything look good.
