I MAY HAVE WRITTEN A SMALL FICLET TO GO WITH IT IT…
Jaime tapped his black ballpoint pen against the paper creating a milky-way of dots on the pristine white page of his textbook. As he stared at the dots, his lips curled upwards into a soft smile. All the little dots reminded him of the cute freckles splashed across Bart’s smooth vanilla skin. Jaime craned his neck over his shoulder to take a peek behind him. His boyfriend was sleeping peacefully on the red and blue bed set behind him.
Jaime chuckled when he noticed Bart was hugging his pillow like a lifeline. Jaime rose up from his chair and quietly walked over in his socks stepping carefully over the carpet to reach the side of his bed without making too much noise. He placed a palm carefully on the duvet and watched as it sunk and when he was content he wouldn’t wake Bart with his movements, he leaned over and kissed the speedster on his left cheek. His cheek was so warm, it was like kissing a warm cookie that just come out of the oven, except Bart was even sweeter.
When Bart began to stir Jaime made a hasty exit and returned to his chair fleeing the scene of the crime. He honestly had not known what had become of him. It had taken him forever to get some peace and quiet in the first place so that he could concentrate on his homework without his adorably needy boyfriend whining and begging for some attention. Jaime just couldn’t help himself. He loved Bart, a lot. And he couldn’t restrain himself from indulging in that passion sometimes, even when he knew he shouldn’t.
With an elevated heart rate, Jaime tried to concentrate on the Physics textbook in front of him. He re-read the first sentence of page sixty five several times before giving up. He desperately wanted to wake Bart up and spend time with him. With a sheepish grin on his face, he decided he would try to “accidentally” wake Bart up. He looked down at the desk feeling guilty, until he remembered the hundreds of times his boyfriend had woken him up during the night.
He tested the waters by slamming his textbook shut. Bart stirred a little but didn’t wake. Jaime then decided to drum his fingers along the oak surface of his desk.
“Jaime Reyes, the rhythm you are creating with your fingers is actually soothing the Bart Allen in to deeper sleep. Your efforts to wake your boyfriend are ineffective. Recommended tactic: shake him until he wakes.” Khaji Da said in such a way that Jaime could actually imagine the scarab rolling its metaphorical eyes.
“I am not going to shake him!” Jaime hissed.
Jaime’s shoulders tensed upwards to align with his cheeks when he heard Bart stir loudly this time. Jaime was flooded with guilt for a moment before it was alleviated by Bart’s steady breathing again.
“Ok, I am just going to go back to studying.” Jaime whispered, turning around one last time to make sure he hadn’t woken Bart.
“Mi amor.” Jaime whispered with a smile that portrayed how lucky he felt, before turning back to his desk and diving back into his studies.
A few hours later, Jaime had managed to complete a considerable amount of studying. He felt confident to ace his midterms coming up. He found the concept of chemical bonding thoroughly fascinating. He was in the middle of imagining himself and Bart as two atoms who had an electrostatic attraction between them creating a strong bond when he was startled by an arm slithering around his waist.
Once his brain had caught up he realized Bart was awake and was kissing him on his right cheek. He couldn’t contain the laughter that bubbled up from inside of him. Bart just grinned through his lips which were still pursed on his cheek momentarily. When Bart pulled his lips away, he maneuvered himself behind Jaime’s chair and nuzzled his head into the crook between Jaime’s shoulder and neck.
“Hey babe, are you still studying?” Bart ogled.
Jaime grinned as Bart groaned melodramatically over his shoulder.
“Can we please do something crash! Spend some time together!” Bart begged with his arms still wrapped around Jaime enticingly.
“Hmm… I don’t know I think I should keep studying.” Jaime put on the best serious tone he could manage despite the wide grin plastered on his face. He knew Bart couldn’t see his face.
“Nooooooooooo! Please! I missed you Jaime.” Bart pleaded nuzzling his head deeper in to Jaime.
Jaime laughed as long strands of Bart’s auburn hair tickled his neck. He rotated himself so he could see Bart properly.
“I guess I could spend some time with you.” Jaime leered.
“Really?” Bart exclaimed his eyes ablaze with excitement.
“Really.” Jaime chuckled as Bart smashed into him with an almighty tight hug as he exclaimed, “Crash!”.
Jaime had intended on saying yes from the beginning, but sometimes he couldn’t help but build up Bart’s anticipation because seeing just how much he cared about him was the most rewarding gift of all.
