It’s interesting to note that the first two principal characters introduced to the player in DA:I (aside from the glowing being whose identity is revealed later) are women. And they are women who radiate power, who have a presence that charges the air - physical prowess juxtaposed with deadly calm.

At their introduction, both are suspicious and wary of the current circumstances, and of the Herald yet-to-be. Both are shouldering their personal burdens of pain and loss, of anger and wrath, but also the shared burden of uncertainty. Yet, despite all this, despite the swirling hole in the sky, they are unshakable in their resolve. We see these qualities and aspects in their brief introduction, and as such, we also are allowed the sense of their long-standing association with one another, the mutual respect and trust.

It’s just a few minutes, a small glimpse within the prologue, but it’s profoundly significant for here is where the story starts and gives a promise of sorts of the narrative to follow. This is the space in which the world of the game is introduced - to old players and to new. And in that beginning, we get to see that the denizens and world-shakers, the heroes of Thedas, count among their rank some rather amazing women.

It’s a hell of a way to start.

This guy just got butt hurt over an awesome character that is a WOC who inspires all other woman and specially other WOC everyday.

The same woman that spends the whole game protecting womanhood all the time.

The same woman that doesn’t restrict that protection because some fit less the feminine role (Aveline).

The same woman that actually treats Merrill like the woman she is.

The same woman that threw her whole life’s worth and her precious boat to save thousands of slaves.

The same woman that keeps reminding you how cheap a women’s life is compared to a men’s life, despite the whole Thedas being more ahead of us, when it is not the case.

The same woman that saw herself sold so her mom could afford some meals and shit.

The same woman that married an abusive husband and still survived to be someone and didn’t let it define herself.

The same woman that is sexually confident and wears it as an armour.

The same woman that knows the cost of wearing that armour but also knows how to pay for it. (Smash that man’s face for touching you without consent, don’t ever shut up).

The same woman that despite all the hurt and her lack of trust in love still lets Hawke have a taste of her heart, and behind all that armour she keeps wearing everyday so she could survive you find the most precious of hearts.

The same woman that values an healthy, free, and easy-like relationship more than anything.

The same woman that literally would give her life to protect the innocence of the younger ladies in the group because she knows how cruel life can be towards the ladies, that’s what her armour is made of.

The same woman that would do anything for Hawke if they are friends, literally risk her life and show up in from of the Arishok with the relic trying to fix her mistake instead of running away to save her skin.

The same woman that is a motherfucking inspiration to all woc that keep getting abused and objectified for their skin colour and body features.

This same woman, CAPTAIN ISABELA, ADMIRAL OF THE FELISSISSIMA ARMADA, WITH A FANCY HAT, deserves the spot, deserves 10 000x more attention than some white guy, she literally deserves the whole world. After all that she inspires and teaches about the struggles of being a woman, after all her genuine care that pierced through her armour of defence this woman deserves the universe, not being called a *****, that absolutely doesn’t define her and if this is all this man has to say to defend the worth of the character he voices he doesn’t even deserve to voice Anders. I’m not a fan of Anders but I’m sure that anyone deserves better than such a short-minded man that can’t even dig enough in his own character past the cat barrier to actually justify his whole point, as calling another character a ***** is easier.

I’m real disappointed in him. Like really disappointed. I have a crush on him but now meh a real wanker this one.

I don’t know what exactly this is about but I’m sure I can guess. And I wish I could say I was surprised at this but I’m not. Shocked and appalled, but not surprised.
