Welcome to this year’s Aburame week! Where you will find a celebration of Aburame clan and related fanworks!

During the week of June 2nd to 8th of 2024 we will be hosting the following fan event week. Whereupon written pieces, drawn pieces, and all art pieces that align with our rulings shall be presented to the fandom underneath our hashtag #aburameweek2024. Now be you mind that the event itself is technically meant to be about the characters of the Aburame clan from the series of Naruto, which are known to host and keep insects. So if you have managed to find yourself here and you, yourself are not a fan of the bugs. We would like to request politely of you to block the tag if it makes you squeamish and hope you have a wonderful day!

But back to the event itself. This event is to cater to us Aburame fans about our favorite beetle babes, and no not the band, wether you are fond of Shino, Torune, Muta, Shibi, or some of the other clan members. This is your time to shine and lift them up for a week out of the month of June! You may of course show case them with a OC or a Reader insert! Just make sure you abide by the rules we present to you and all should go hopingly well!

I hate when people make the mercs trans, like- it's the 60-70's and Transsexuality wasn't even known at that time. I have no problem with Trans ppl but still-

this statement is factually untrue and there is endless evidence against it. i wanted to showcase some transgender people from this era, with a particular focus on people who underwent medical transition, because there is also a pervasive belief that medical transition didn't exist at all at the time.

here are some trans people who were out in the 1970s lou sullivan, an american author and activist, and founder of the oldest support organization for trans men in the united states. he was out as a gay trans man by 1975, began taking testosterone in 1979, and had a double mastectomy in 1980.

joão w. nery, a brazilian writer, psychologist, and activist. he was the first trans man to have gender affirming surgery in brazil, in 1977.

carmen rupe, a māori new zealander drag queen and activist. she started hormone therapy in the 1950s and had breast augmentation surgery in the 1970s.

robina asti, an american flight instructor and women's and transgender rights advocate. she began hormone therapy in 1976.

here are some who were out in the 1960s holly woodlawn, a puerto rican actress and warhol superstar. she came out early in her life and took hormones in the early 1960s.

patricia morgan, an american businesswoman and sex worker. she had gender affirming surgery in the early 1960s and was one of the first people to receive it in the united states.

sir ewan forbes, a scottish nobleman, doctor, and farmer. he received gender affirming care in the 1930s and claimed a baronecty in the 1960s, after a lengthy struggle to confirm his title due to his gender; he had been living as a man for years but was outed as transgender in 1965 during his attempt to claim the baronecty.

john martin thorp, a new zealander chemistry researcher, university lecturer, and author. his first pursuit of gender-affirming surgery was in the late 1950s, and he legally changed his name to john martin in 1960.

that's just a small snippet of the many, many transgender people who have lived and thrived throughout history. many of those who pursued gender-affirming care were able to access it. a story about a transgender person medically transitioning in the 1960s or 1970s is still historically accurate if you're a stickler for that, and especially in a setting like tf2, where men give birth to baboons and rocket jumping was invented before stairs. with everything that happens in canon, why is it so strange that transgender people could exist? i hope this has helped to broaden some worldviews and i encourage people to do more research on transgender and other lgbtq history. trans people have always been here and always will be.

Also, as if real life LGBTQ facts wasn't enough, I will add purely from a fandom only point - In TF2 we cannonly have in 1970:

Mediguns that heal any injury, a gold substance called 'Australium' that makes you super buff or can prolong death and has advanced Australia to past even our 2024 modern day levels, wizards, haunted swords, robot replacement limbs, actual robots, an underwater city (New Zealand), watches that turn you invisible, and transporters.

And you're telling me trans people existing isn't 'realistic' in TF2? 🙃

i love these guys from the lego movie and think about them from time to time... and i was always so upset by the scene with the "killing" of the good cop, so i decided to fix it!

This is lovely art and embodies that feeling I get of them caring and protecting each other, even when they share a body (depending on the AU / interpretation). These two went through a lot.

I wrote a fantasty human AU fic once where they were literally brothers born in one body, and got split into two separate people due to master builder magic, and this makes me think of that a lot! (In that story, they don't function so well apart, they were so used to working together sharing a body afterall!)

But yea, these two will always be in my heart, I met some great friends (and my wife!) thanks to the niche of the GCBC fandom. ☺️

after reading the fanfic I was left wanting more, and I want more about Dominique, Lance and Derik. please @lithefider If you see this, please write more of this literary masterpiece.

I've actually been doing a lot of drabble writing for Dominique and Lance, or musing about them with fellow fans, just nothing to publish as of the moment, but the next chapter is nearing completion (the main story as a whole is almost done), and with all this encouragement from readers it definitely makes me want to buckle down and get it done. Thank you. 😊

Such a sweet Dominique, 🥰😭 writing in one of his observation journals no doubt, though seems he met a little friend? (Don't eat that crab! 😱 He's friend not food!)

This is only the second time anyone else has drawn my Red Sniper Derik (much less his newly altered wedge-tailed eagle form), and such a dynamic pose! He will hopefully try flying soon. Those wings got to be good for something? ☺️

And the "what if Red Spy (Raimund) got turned into the thing he fears" is such a cool take, he definitely wouldn't handle it well. 🫠 Though he certainly would understand Domi’s POV a lot more.
