Lisa's Adventures in Simming

@lisag45 / lisag45.tumblr.com

I'm Lisa- major book nerd, mother to 3 great kids who are now grown up. I am a huge fan of The Sims. I've been playing Sims games since 2005 and love taking pictures and talking about my game. Sims 2 is hands down the best game in the franchise IMO, but Sims 4 has its moments and I've been enjoying it a lot lately. I've uploaded a lot of Sims to the official S4 Gallery- I'm LisaG46 over there (because somebody else grabbed my 45 before I could back when the site first went up!) and you can still find some of my Sims 2 stories and a few S2 uploads over at my LiveJournal account- http://lisag45.livejournal.com/

My Gen 6 Legacy siblings Finn, Felicity & Frankie brought their cousins and Finn's GF Paige along with them on a outing to beat the heat. This was the first time I have had anyone visit the Splash Pad Park that came with the Growing Together EP. It's a cute little area, but I felt a little disappointed that there wasn't more to do.

Who are all these Sims and why did they just walk into my house??? The 4 red circles are the sims that actually live here, everybody else, plus another half dozen that are out in the yard, just invaded the place after my family got home from a family trip to the park!

calling out all the 30+ yr old simmers..

no shade to the teens and early twenties bloggers but it’s hard finding people within my age group that are active and continue to contribute here in the community.
also idk if anyone else experiences this but sometimes it can be difficult relating to the younger population due to generational differences, pop culture, etc.
please reblog or comment if you fall into the 30+ age simblr category.

I was a 30+ age Simmer back when Sims 2 was still putting out new expansion packs. LOL

The EA App was giving me so much grief tonight, but it **finally** sorted itself out so I could get into the game and do what I wanted- add a Michael Bachelor to the game as a member of my revamped original Base Game Goth family. Just like I recreated Cassandra and Alexander from scratch using the Mix Sims DNA tool, I made Michael in CAS using Bella and the DNA tool's Make a Sibling option. The Sims Wiki gave different eye color options depending on the game version so I just stuck with brown like Bella. My vision of Michael in looks and personality is strongly influenced by skellington7d's Sims 2 Fortune and Romance story since I never played with his character in any of the previous games.

Hello, Tumblr.

If you joined us before November 2022 and predominantly post on web, you will be familiar with the two post editors—the legacy editor and the “new” web editor (formerly known as the “Beta editor”).

Beginning May 15, we’ll gradually be working to remove the legacy editor as an option for creating new posts. New posts created on web will be created in the new web editor. We hope to complete this change by July 15.

  • This change only affects accounts created before November 2022. Newer accounts already default to the new web editor.
  • This will not affect posting on the apps because we switched to this new editor on the apps about four years ago. If you use the apps, you’ve been using the new editor all this time!
  • This will not affect what you can include in a post, only how you get there: You can still include all the different types of media in a post, only now, you’ll do that via the new web editor’s content blocks instead of selecting a post type from the post type bar at the top of your dash. So, if you’re halfway through a text post, and you decide that what this post really needs is your pet reptile, then click on the little red image icon in the post editor, select an image, and voilà. Lizard boy steals our hearts.

If you still prefer to post on web using the legacy editor, please keep reading because the rest of this post is for you.

Important! Sims 4 cas.fulleditmode bug

If you have the new Sims 4 EP Growing Together, you need to know that there's a bug with cas.fulleditmode and Sims with added traits (beyond the basic 3 traits). If you trigger this bug, all your household Sims will have the same name and your CAS UI will be corrupted. Worse, this bug can spread to other Saves.

Read:

You can avoid this bug:

  • Back up your saves outside the game folder before you play. Make this a habit. Don't rely on an automated online backup (like Drive) to do this; there are known issues with this.
  • Save before entering cas.fulleditmode. That way, when you do the next thing, you haven't lost a lot of gameplay. You might be fine if you're not touching Traits in CAS, but play safe!
  • If you encounter the bug in CAS, exit without saving.
  • Before you open a new save, exit and restart the start.

There is not a mod for this bug. When this bug is resolved, I'll updated this post.

Here is my first official real gripe about Growing Together and something I was worried about as soon as I saw it in the trailer- the treehouse is SO freaking big. I might be in the minority but I think a 9X9 item is a prohibitively large item for the vast majority of home lots. My first kiddo Sophie just had her kid birthday and I thought I'd give her one of the new child aspirations- she needed to play in a treehouse to complete the first level, but there is no room on her home lot to put something that big. ~grumble~ I wasn't sure if it would work, but I had the family go to the big park in Willow Creek and build one there. There was a visual glitch at first so it looked like it wasn't complete when they went home, but I came back in through Manage Worlds, did a little shifting, organizing and landscaping, added a few more kid and tot friendly park toys to round out the play area, and crossed my fingers. I brought the whole family for a Saturday afternoon outing the next day and it was working! There was actually somebody sleeping in the enclosure! LOL!

So my Infant Update Test Family turned into my Growing Together Test Family. Arthur and Tiffany had a second daughter named Rosalie. Sophie seems to tolerate her sister- she did have a number of sad moodlets because she was jealous of the time her parents spent with the baby though. Both girls popped up 3 quicks and they did add to the gameplay- like Sophie hates going to bed and kept popping up even though she was in the red tired so I learned to just let her nap on the sofa with her parents. We hired a Nanny to help out when Tiffany was super pregnant and then he later invited himself over to stay with us for a few days. It was okay- he did help with the kids a lot, but he also ate a LOT of food and broke the computer. All in all, I’m pleased with the new stuff though I didn’t explore much of it yet.

My Infant Update Test Family- Arthur, Tiffany, and Sophie.  First impression- Very Cute! Base Game Infants are a lot of work, but not awful. I’ve been playing at normal speed for a few hours now and Sophie’s been pretty mellow all things considered- she has the Sunny trait. Sims are dumb- I love ‘em, but that is just a fact- so sometimes the parents don’t listen when told to do things for the infant. It’s annoying, but not that big a deal so far. Mom is pregnant with #2 so we’ll see how the difficulty goes up when they’ve got 2 little ones in the house at the same time.

Vote for the Amador Legacy’s Generation 6 Heir.  All 3 kids are currently teens. (Finn's YA birthday is in 5 game days) 1- Finnegan- black hair, turquoise eyes, spellcaster, oldest child Traits- Dog Lover, Genius Reward Traits- Physically Gifted, Weak Bloodline, Relatable Current Aspiration- Goal Oriented (it's one of the HSY Teen Only Aspirations). Football Team 2- Felicity- brown curly hair, turquoise eyes, spellcaster, middle child, wears glasses Traits- Clumsy, Neat Reward Traits- Mentally Gifted, Quick Learner Current Aspiration- Nerd Brain (she's going to need to build a Rocket Ship) Chess Club 3- Frankie- brown straight hair, turquoise eyes, spellcaster, youngest child Traits- Dog Lover, Creative Reward Traits- Creatively Gifted, Physically Gifted, Socially Gifted, Muser, Gregarious Current Aspiration- Friend to the World Cheer Squad

My Gen 6 Legacy Teens get their bedrooms remodeled. I kept the furniture in pretty much the same spot because it works, but I updated the colors for the current owners. Baby of the family Frankie inherited her mother’s old room and I kept the knick-knack shelf because I still like it- her room is a mix of mint, yellow, and peach tones. Oldest child and only son, Finn’s room is a calm retreat in simple browns and greens. And middle child Felicity’s room is strawberry pink and white because she adores pink and I desperately wanted to use that wallpaper from the Pastel Pop Kit . * I really love the pink and white cow print rug- never thought I would use it, but it is fun.

Teenagers! Urg.... Why not make something that can’t catch fire for your very first self prepared meal??? Finn was able to put the fire out, but he destroyed the oven, the range hood, and the very full planting bench that was on the other side of the wall.

the upcoming update

How to update:

  • BACKUP your saves !
  • update the game so that you don't have your whole Mods folder in but move mods, tray and saves to a safe place and update.
  • clear caches, old last exception files and anything that does not belong in the game files.
  • once updated start the game vanilla with no mods, let the game generate new save, tray and mods folders.
  • In game make a vanilla sim , move them to vanilla lot , play a while and save the game and exit.
  • Do not put ANY MODS in your game until you are sure they are UPDATED!
  • Put your mods back in game and test them with that vanilla save.
  • Start with visual overhauls, lighting mods etc..
  • Add big mods like MCCC, UI cheats etc..
  • Then smaller mods and always make sure you have the udpated versions
  • Lastly add your defaults
  • then other cc and do not dump everything in there at once, but try to put them in smaller patches
  • and with every mod or folder of cc you add, test the gameplay with your vanilla household.
  • Once you are sure you have all mods working and udpated you want you can move back your Saves and Tray from the safe place you put them.
  • Do not go on and about harassing modders to fix their mods, this is a big udpate, updating lot of functions from the base game and other packs. Some mods might break a lot some less, so give modders time to fix their mods and don't be an ass about it.

This way you can update safely and you don't have to be worrying of the possible bugs the udpate gives (remember time moving in cas bug, instant getting older bug) and possibly corrupt your save file with a broken mod. You can spend few days with the vanilla save to make sure everything works as it should.

Finn Amador (Gen 6, Amador Legacy) was my first S4 Legacy kid to ever get to go to Prom and was so excited when he was voted Prom King. Now I have to wonder, has anybody seen a CC deco version of the crown or the jester hat they get, something that could be placed on a nightstand or shelf? Because I think that would be freaking adorable. I Googled it, but couldn’t find anything.

Wow... My Legacy Family Tree is now officially too large to be able to see everyone if I sort by my Founder Audra or my Gen 2 Heir Beatrice so I have to sort by clicking on the 3rd Generation. I can not believe I have 6 generations! I’ve never played a single family this long in my 18 years of playing The Sims games.
