Sam. At least I think I’m funny

when I was a kid my best friend and I were really enamored by the very exotic concept of quicksand so every summer we used to go down to the woods near the lakeshore and play in a patch of mud that would let us sink in it up to our chests and pretend that it was quicksand. it was extremely dense and very hard to move through or get out of and we always had to crawl out on our bellies, completely exhausted and coated in mud up to our necks. lost several shoes and one pair of pants that way.

us, playing in quicksand: “haha! let’s pretend this is quicksand!”

no because Katniss clearly had a big soft spot for kids and for innocence and it starts with Prim obviously her darling little sister who she'd do anything to protect from the horrors of panem and then there's Rue who her heart immediately breaks for seeing her get reaped with no one to volunteer for her and protect her

her not wanting kids was explicitly because she couldn't bear to watch them suffer the world she's suffered in or be put through what she was as capitol entertainment (she notes victors children are reaped at a suspicious rate and the thought of mentoring her own kid is terrifying)

to me knowing that she healed enough and changed the world enough that she got to bring innocence into the world and love it without having the risk of that love being a tool against her and that innocence stripped away is everything
