I know this is supposed to be funny, but does it horrify anyone else that social media is being used by employers to monitor how happy we are to be slaves to capitalism and if we aren’t 1000% enthusiastic about having to work, you’re immediately terminated? He says “Good luck with your no money, no job life” but the implication is pretty clear–”Good luck starving to death because you didn’t live to serve me/my company”
So if you express a feeling about your job/working/capitalism on your own social media space that doesn’t please your employers, you’re punished.
Holy fuck
This is some dystopian shit right here
This is actually illegal in the US, by the way. There’s a thing called the National Labor Relations Act that protects your right to complain about your job (the reasoning being if you can’t complain you can’t find other employees with similar complaints to start a union with).
If this happens to you, you should file a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board. Source: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/jurisprudence/2013/01/complaining_about_your_job_on_facebook_the_national_labor_relations_board.html
I have always been uncomfortable with this post and I’m so glad queerjoseph was able to put it into words for me
what are your thoughts on ‘skinny shaming’?
As someone who has been “thin-shamed” I can say it does Not at all go hand in hand with fat shaming. People “thin-shaming” me was mostly verbal harassment- you’re too skinny, you look like a boy, eat a fucking cheeseburger, what’s wrong with you why don’t you like food?
But guess what, I don’t have a problem finding clothes that fit me. There aren’t companies that refuse to make clothes for my size. There is no shortage of messages telling me that despite the harassment of some, I am still beautiful and ideal even if I’m unhealthy. Despite being thin-shamed, I still PANICKED when I started a medicine that made me gain weight, and I had to really analyze that, because no matter what my culture will still say that “fat is unideal” “fat is bad” and “honestly its fine to starve yourself / but shameful and bad to overeat.”
So “thin-shaming” is shitty because it’s shitty to be judged and have people make assumptions about you. But Fat-shaming is institutional, it’s not just individuals harassment and judgement, it’s potential jobs, it’s clothing companies, it’s media and advertisement, all telling you you’re bad as you are. Like what a way shittier thing.
This is the difference.
Listen I would die for Jameela Jamil

The economic realities of Baby boomers versus Millennials

Stop leaving out the Black girls.
Jorja is only just now 21 and Bella Harris is only 18.
dont lie to yourselves this IS as digusting as it sounds and these people had sex with these girls probably at the age they met them… maximum a year after.. not EVEN a couple years
why is “olde vampires in high school” the big thing and not “olde vampires in college”
consider: vampire PhD students and postdocs, because in addition to all of the above:
why is liking body hair on women considered, like, a weird fetish when it’s literally just.. the female body’s natural form…
men dumb
Ban unpaid labor! Smash capitalism.
“40 is good, 50 is great, 60 is fab, and 70 is fucking awesome!” ~ Helen Mirren 💪🏻
missed some greats!
I can’t believe Julie Andrews is not on this list guys.
“It’s fucking outrageous. It’s ridiculous. And ’twas ever thus. We all watched James Bond as he got more and more geriatric, and his girlfriends got younger and younger. It’s so annoying.” - Helen Mirren on the bullshit that is (sexist) ageism (source) Whenever you need a positive role model to help you remember that aging is NATURAL, aging is BEAUTIFUL, there is NOTHING WRONG with aging, and if you’re LUCKY will you live long enough to experience it – look long and hard at every single one of these these Queens. LOOK. AT. THEM.
Go ladies!
Might I add

Many women have talked about how amazing life is after your 40s. Some have their happiest years in their 70s. We need to stop believing society when it tells us our lives are over when we reach 35.
-“mommy, the kids at school are mean to me!”
-“OH, WHAT, ARE U #TRIGGERED???, LIFE ISNT UR #SAFE SPACE LMAO”
Stay away from children for the rest of your lives please
this is a show for 3 - 6 year olds what is WRONG with these monsters???
Fun fact, sesame street was created to fill the gap in education for children whose families could not afford to send them to preschool. Sesame street taught basic math and phonics as well as interpersonal skills so that children below the poverty line weren’t starting elementary school behind their more privileged classmates.
Here sesame street is trying to fill a gap where supportive adults should be. Where there should be a teacher or a family member or a counselor to help, for whatever reason, there isn’t, so Sesame Street is stepping in.
This breed of person has always hated Sesame Street. They hated it for showing black and white children playing together. They hated it for giving children of color the head start that rich white families were paying for. They hated it for Bert and Ernie for showing two MEN who LIVED TOGETHER, for the married black nurse who lived on sesame street when it was first released, and for them explaining death. I feel like there was a pregnancy at some point in its early days and they would have REALLY hated that.
These days they don’t (usually) say “I’m not letting my kid watch anything with black kids in it” but they sure throw a tantrum in the youtube comments when Sesame Street DARES to show an autistic girl playing with non-autistic children and being treated like shes anyone else. They lose their shit when Sesame Street has to explain incarceration to 5 year olds. And the muppet in south africa with HIV? Hoo boy.
They hate everything Sesame Street stands for and tries to provide. They always have. We just have to ignore them and keep supporting the show. Or tell them to shut the fuck up and keep supporting the show. Either way Sesame Street will outlive them.
Sesame Street will outlive them.
Yes💛💛💛🌈😍
“You don’t have to understand people to treat them with respect” is one of the most important things I ever learned.
my favorite side effect warning is for antidepressants
pros: you won’t want to kill yourself
cons: you might want to kill yourself
Back when I was in a psychiatric hospital, and was offered antidepressants, my mother had declined them due to that apparent side effect. So the staff actually explained about this effect antidepressants have, that give reason to that warning. When first taking antidepressants they raise up your energy first. So that you have the energy to do the tasks you might have avoided doing due to your depression. Because of this those who were already suicidal, now have the energy to go do so. Which is the ones this warning is given for. It’s not that a side effect of antidepressants magically makes you want to kill yourself, it’s the energy it gives those who were already struggling with suicidal issues, to actually attempt the act.
Very informative…
Wow. I’m so glad you explained that. Now I understand
My high school choir/psych teacher actually told is about this. She also said if you have a suicidal friend who starts seeming like they might be getting better because they have more energy, that’s the time to be cautious because that’s when they may still be suicidal but they’ll actually have the energy to go through with it
THIS. a thousand times THIS. I had it explained to me in my AP psychology class in high school. super fucking important.
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT and I wish my doctors had explained it to me this well when I first started taking them.
JUST GONNA REBLOG THIS AGAIN TO ADD that my younger sister in law recently started on anti-depressants among other medications in juncture with therapy to help handle an extreme case of OCD and anxiety, and I was the one who had to explain this to her. Her doctor only explained the risks, and not WHY they would actually be considered risks, which put her off of taking medication for most of her life. I explained it, and she understood, and THAT is why she is now on medication that is significantly improving her life. DOCTORS NEED TO TELL US THIS SHIT.
Best description of why ‘increased risk of suicide’ is included in the warning for anti-depressants I’ve ever read.
Signal boost this to save a life.
Pete Sessions held a town hall this past Saturday and I’m amazed that his comments about people with disabilities haven’t garnered any attention. If you look at the video starting around 14:40 and listen to his answer to the question about school vouchers, he essentially says out loud and on camera that the only disabilities are the ones that can be seen.
I haven’t been able to raise much awareness or outage about his comments and I was hoping you all would want to help
