“Those who love you are not fooled by mistakes you have made or dark images you hold about yourself. They remember your beauty when you feel ugly; your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you feel guilty; and your purpose when you are confused.”

“The secret of attraction is to love yourself. Attractive people judge neither themselves nor others. They are open to gestures of love. They think about love, and express their love in every action.”

The Fate of Moods

she lets herself in through the back door careful not to wake me I stumble into the living room and find her sitting on the couch waiting patiently her smile is sly like she has secret plans for me and she is casually amused at how effective they will be

she already knows she knows everything

or she may be sitting at the end of my bed watching me sleep pondering with pleasure what game she wants to play with me perhaps the circular, inescapable maze or the one with the hidden staircase maybe a game of hide and seek knowing I will find nothing

cruel muse yet on a good day she will make me breakfast pour my tea keep me company while I smile and eat my toast in peace

on a really good day she lets me sleep and when I wake she kisses me and smiles benevolently and I know today time will pass easily

she is the muse of moods her will cannot be appeased I am a vessel she floods or leaves empty

her greatest trick is dealing carefully chosen cards under the table she stacks the deck and I can play my hand as l wish yet the odds are that I will lose or that it is impossible to win.
