It is known that Gilbert Blythe is head over ass in love with Anne Shirley-Cuthbert. What isn't known is what he would have said or done had he found Anne sneakily writing her article during 3x06, and where their friendship would have gone from there.

AKA a post-3x06 fic set in modern times, but in college and with Winifred long gone.

Chapter 9 is up! Anne and Gilbert go on a date and have a VERY nice night ๐Ÿ˜

Kaz shrugged. โ€œKill us, and youโ€™ll never find Kuwei.โ€ Van Eck appeared to consider this. Then he stepped back. โ€œGuards to me!โ€ he shouted. โ€œKill everyone but Brekker!โ€ Kaz knew the instant he made his mistake. Theyโ€™d all known it might come to this. He should have trusted his crew. His eyes should have stayed trained on Van Eck. Instead, in that moment of threat, when he should have thought only of the fight, he looked at Inej. And Van Eck saw it. He blew on his whistle. โ€œLeave the others! Get the money and the girl.โ€
โ€” SIX OF CROWS, Chapter 45

Inej: Iโ€™m so sick of your stupid dick-measuring competition with Rollins, youโ€™re putting us in danger and Iโ€™m OUT

Kaz: he killed my brother

Inej: where this bitch at Iโ€™m gonna use him as a pincushion

#in inejโ€™s fantasy kaz removes their armour: inejโ€™s knives which protect her and his gloves which protect him #in their final scene inejโ€™s knives are absent: she is without her armour #however kaz still wears his

Show thoughts on "I'll have you without your armor"

Can we all just pause and note the subtle performances that made this scene so fucking BEAUTIFUL.

Inej's love and compassion as she holds his gloved hand so gently. No judgement, no shame, so full of understanding. She knows that's he NEEDS his armor, and she doesn't judge him for it, but she also knows they can't be more with. They just can't. It's heartbreaking and true. She knows how huge it is for Kaz to say he wants Inej, and she knows that he needs to heal before wanting can be enough.

And Kaz's little nod at the end there? Just that one dip of his chin and his eyes leaving hers.

Because he knows.

He knows exactly what Inej means. He knows that he's not really ready for them to be something more yet, for all that he wants her, for all that he finally got the words out of his mouth for the first fucking time, for all of that... He knows he's not ready yet.

He knows that trying to be more will only hurt Inej, and will only hurt him, because he's just not healed enough to prevent harm.

He knows. She knows. And they love each other so well they can let each other have the space they need to find their purpose and to heal.

Freddy and Amita understand these characters so deeply, and their performances in this scene are utterly captivating.

He actually looks at ease here if only for a second. I wonder if he thought he was dreaming still. Do you think Kaz Brekker, Dirtyhands, the bastard of the Barrel and the deadliest boy in Ketterdam has had dreams about waking up to Inej Ghafa beside him? I definitely do.

I actually really love this tiny Kanej moment. Inej apologies for touching him and then moves on for his sake- she doesnโ€™t ask questions, she just lets it go. Lets him recover.

the thing about kaz brekker is that heโ€™s the most protagonist protagonist to ever protagonist. and they keep trying to make him a b-plot character. of course everyoneโ€™s bored when heโ€™s not on screen๐Ÿ˜ญ

i want to show some fucking appreciation for amita suman. inej was most likely forced to strip in front of clients while at the menagerie. and i think amitaโ€™s acting shows that, her facial expressions in this scene show that sheโ€™s thinking of the last time she had to do this, thereโ€™s a hardness in her expression. but when she sees the kaz is turned away, his eyes averted, her gaze softens

thinking about how, as a child, kazโ€™s favorite trick seemed to be watching something disappear, and then he grew up and fell in love with a girl who could vanish into thin air, and how weโ€™re told that when he looks at inej, he feels like a boy again and believes that thereโ€™s still magic in the world. imagine loving magic all your life, and then discovering that magic loved you too.

Y'all saying they fully erased Inej's trauma in s2 for the sake of Kaz's, as if the whole point of her hallucination in episode 6 wasn't her desire for someone to ask for consent before touching her-

I will simply NEVER shut up about how each of the Crows have a parallel character who then foils them in other ways.

Nina and Jesper are both outgoing, flirtatious characters who struggle with addiction. However, Nina's addiction was something she induced to save herself and the others, and something she knew she would have to fight to overcome. On the other hand Jesper spends most of the books in denial of his addiction, and it has dire consequences (Inej's stabbing and his father's farm being put at risk.) They are both Grisha, something that has had a devastating impact on both of their lives, however, Nina was able to grow up learning to harness her powers and Jesper was taught to fear his instead.

Matthias and Inej are both faith-driven people with strong beliefs. However, where Inej's beliefs have made her stronger and positively guided her decisions, Matthias' have made him full of hatred and eventually lead him to his death. Their respective romances cause them to go against part of their beliefs, or, in Matthias' case, completely unlearn the prejudices that he used to justify through his beliefs. They also both arrive in Kerch a captive and spend their first few months there imprisoned in some way.

Wylan and Kaz are the only characters who grow up in the same country, and while their class differences mean they begin their lives in very different ways, this does not stop them from arriving in the same place. Both of their stories in the Barrel begin with them narrowly escaping death, dragging themselves out of a canal and simply making the decision not to die no matter what the cost. Morally they are starkly opposite, with Wylan being the only Crow to blatantly confront Kaz on his actions and motives throughout the series. They are both quick-thinkers and good liars. By the end of Crooked Kingdom, Wylan begins to match Kaz' intelligence when it comes to 'criminal mastermind' thinking. They are also the only Crows who subvert expectations from their own POV, making you think they've failed when actually that was the plan all along. (They also have the same number of 'WANTED' posters in that one scene in CK.)
