Life of an artist that doesn't post any of her drawings nor poems she claims to have created. Isn't that wacky?

Gee, I thought these people were the ones who were like “If you don’t like it, you can just move to a blue state.”

And now they’re mad the guy is doing just that?

You can’t oppress and discriminate against someone then be mad when they take their highly useful skill elsewhere.

His point is basically that he’s going to go where he’s wanted. Guys like Brett realize, as he’s leaving that he’s actually beneficial to the society he’s leaving. If he wasn’t, Bret would be celebrating. This brain drain they’re fretting about is entirely of their own bigoted doing. If they’d thought about retaining great contributors to society instead of culture wars, there’d be no issue.

And the guy still is doing his job, by the way. Saving sick kids.

He just wants to do it in a state that doesn’t hate him and his family.

“You cannot demand a service while simultaneously degrading those who provide it for you.”

So a free tool called GLAZE has been developed that allows artists to cloak their artwork so it can't be mimicked by AI art tools.

AI art bros are big mad about it.

Seeing as Twitter is gonna legally steal your work now, please use glaze to protect what you make.

Using both Glaze and Nightshade would corrupt the generation of pictures mimicking artist AND mess with the AI's recognition of what everything is. Like it would generate a dog when you ask for a cat.

And it would be hell for AI bros to remove the cloaked pictures from their database ʕ 👀人ʔ

[Image description: Two smartphone screenshots of a Facebook post by a person named Sheila Toll posted 2 Sep. It is black text on a white background and the post is public. The post reads:

I am a Family Doctor and I want to keep a promise made to a patient.

Julie was a healthy, post-menopausal woman in my care who came in for a periodic health examination. One of my routine questions, in what is called the “Review of Systems”, was to ask if she had experienced any vaginal bleeding.

She said “No” but then laughed and added, “Other than when my period came back for a few months last year”.

All health care professional are taught early on that ‘vaginal bleeding in a post-menopausal woman is Cancer of the Uterus until proven otherwise’. This comment by Julie was, therefore, a red flag (no pun intended) prompting further questions, an examination and an ultrasound of her pelvis.

Julie was surprised to see me so concerned, especially since the symptoms had not recurred over many months.

Sure enough, a pelvic ultrasound and tissue sampling confirmed Cancer of the Uterus.

Julie underwent a hysterectomy and radiation therapy. She is now healthy, cancer-free and is expected to stay that way.

After all this was done, Julie sat ME down for a talk. She told me she’d had no idea a ‘short return’ of her period after menopause was a danger signal. Furthermore, she addressed the topic with friends over coffee and discovered that, out of 20 women, NONE of them knew this symptom was abnormal! She admonished me to “Tell women this! Don’t assume we know it!”

From that day on, I have kept Julie’s advice in mind when talking with post-menopausal patients. But recently my wife suggested that I should take this to a wider audience.

So, Julie, this is for you:

If you are a post-menopausal woman and your period ‘comes back’ or you have even one episode of vaginal bleeding, TELL A HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL and insist on having it investigated!

Wishing you all good health and long lives. End image description.]

When you call somebody’s name but they don’t know where it’s coming from

This is genuinely frightening

You know when a horror movie has so many jokes it feels more like a comedy? This is the exact opposite of that

It Follows (2014)

I remember reading somewhere that there’s a fine line between comedy and horror, this video crossed that fine line like 10 times.

My dear lgbt+ kids,

If someone expects you to give up on your own interests and only care about their hobbies, that’s a red flag.

But: if you deeply care about a person, you naturally take interest in their interests. You may find yourself wanting to actively engage in your partner’s interests and hobbies, and that can be a healthy and beautiful way to both bond with each other and broaden your own comfort zone.

If someone expects you to drop whatever you do as soon as they want to spend time with you, that’s a red flag.

But: if you deeply care about a person, you are naturally excited about shared experiences. You may find yourself occasionally dropping solo plans because being with them sounds more fun, and that just means they are a fun person to have around!

If someone expects you to be their unpaid therapist and constantly be available to listen to them talk about their traumas for hours, that’s a red flag.

But: if you deeply care about a person, you are naturally invested in their well-being. You may find yourself listening to them talk about their traumas for hours because you care about them and want to be there for them when they need an open ear and a shoulder to cry on, and while trauma talks don’t need to be part of all relationships, being there for each other is part of every healthy and close relationship.

Point is, red flags don’t exist in a vacuum. Context matters.

To avoid misunderstandings, we are not talking about physical violence or non-consensual sexual acts here. There are things that are always abuse, regardless of the surrounding circumstances.

We are talking about “emotional labor” here - demands for your attention, affection, time, energy. These can become unhealthy or abusive, but ruling all demands of emotional energy as abusive would mean ruling the whole concept of relationships (and friendships, and family-like bonds) as abusive. Intertwining your life with someone also means investing energy in them: willingly, within reason and without force.

With all my love,

Your Tumblr Dad

They're also censoring people who use these tags on X. Sudanese creators and activists who are talking about their experiences -and often not able to share extensive details about their sufferings because if they do, they could be killed for sharing information. Saying 'genocide' is getting their posts flagged and accounts banned too. We need to be talking about this too.

Facts about your body after you turn 25, AKA things I wish someone had told me:

  • you will get hair in fun new places. this is normal and fine.
  • these places include (but are not limited to) if you don't already have them: your asscrack, your back, your ears, and moles. it's fine.
  • some of you, dick or not, will also lose hair. this is normal, but also if you have ovaries maybe get this checked out for PCOS.
  • your acne will probably change. some people get better. some people get worse. it's fine.
  • your nails will probably get an infection or a fungus at least once in your life. this is fine. (but also let your doc know).
  • how you gain and lose fat and where you do so will change. this is fine.
  • how you smell will change. this is fine. (fishy or rotten smells mean doctor time though)
  • if you have a prostate: it gets harder to pee. prostates enlarge as you age (get this checked regularly). this is fine.
  • if you do not have a prostate: it gets easier to pee but not in a good way. as in as you get older, your pelvic floor muscles tend to lose some of their strength. this makes it harder to keep pee in. this is fine.
  • all breasts and pectorals eventually sag, with the rest of your body. this is fine.
  • a decent percent of the population will experience a cyst at least once. some of you will make up for the rest with multiple. this is fine, but keep them checked out by a doctor. (sometimes this is a condition! get checked for that too!)
  • almost half of everyone gets hemorrhoids. it's a good idea to just expect them since your chances of getting them get higher the older you are. your toilet will look like a murder scene. definitely get your booty checked out BUT this is almost always perfectly normal. just eat more fiber. "but I already-" eat more fiber. and maybe suck it up and buy some hemorrhoid cream, you'll thank me later.
  • yes, this means you will probably need to make an appointment for a doctor to see your butthole. it's okay. not only do they really not care but 1. they've seen weirder that day and 2. they'd far rather you see them now than later when it's been going on for forty years and now it might be colon cancer. it's okay. consider it a rite of passage.
  • adults need more sleep than children. don't believe the myth that you need less than they do. that is capitalist propaganda to make you give up more of your life to the work grind, comrade.
  • vitamins and medicine, something you are more likely to take as you get older, sometimes make the toilet turn weird colors. it's okay.
  • if you still have your tonsils and get those little stones and get sore throats more than once a year you should plan on getting those suckers out before the tonsils cause an infection and go septic. if you're getting stones at all you should get those reevaluated every year, especially if the stones are bigger than a needlehead (or get bigger over time). it's gross and yucky. I don't care. get them looked at before you end up in the hospital.
  • you'll probably need to add foot support to your shoes if you don't already do. this is fine.
  • your body changes. sometimes it can feel sorta weird and upsetting that it isn't what it used to be. that is okay, and it is okay to be upset. just know that this is normal, it's normal to be upset or not upset, but don't let it hinder your quality of life. trans or cis, there is a certain level of acceptance you just gotta give your body and forgive your body for as you get older. it's okay.
  • it's okay. I promise.
