The "WTF?!" spread

I frequently do personalized spreads when I do readings, and I made a new fun tarot spread just now, thought I'd share if anyone else wants to use it! Feel free to credit me, or not, whatever!

glamour water for self-love and confidence

with the energy of valentine’s day still in the air, and with the full moon in leo tonight, what better time is there to do a little glamour/self care?

materials:

  • white, pink, and/or red candle
  • rosemary, for love and success
  • rose petals, for love and beauty
  • moon water
  • witch hazel water, for blood flow, healing & liveliness (also helps with acne!)
  • rose quartz, green tourmaline and/or clear quartz
  • bowl or vessel
  • two cotton balls or pads

instructions:

  1. cleanse/prep your space however you like. i typically light sandalwood, a cleansing incense, and will sweep my area clean. invite and give thanks to air as you watch the smoke fill the area.
  2. take your candle, and carve the rune Isa(z), for self-image/ego/identity into the side. you can also use your own self confidence/self love sigil if you have one. i’ve found this to be more effective with your own sigils/symbols. light your candle, and invite and give thanks to fire as the heat rises from the wick.
  3. take a moment to meditate or journal and reflect on your intentions. write down your affirmations, if you’d like, on a small slip of paper to use in a later step. focus on what you’re trying to accomplish.
  4. next, move on to your crystal(s). charge them with your intent: in this case, we’re going with self-love, healing, purification, confidence. hold the crystals in your hand and imagine yourself, confident as can be, with an absolutely radiant energy; a beautiful smile stretched across your face. place the crystals in the bottom of your bowl/vessel. invite and give thanks to the earth.
  5. add your water and witch hazel. you want to go with a 1:2 ratio of water to witch hazel (of course, you can eye-ball this). invite and give thanks to water as you pour them into your vessel.
  6. add your herbs. be sure to hold each herb in your hand, and remind yourself of what the herb is for. fuse your intentions into each herb before adding them to your vessel.
  7. using your finger or spoon/small mixing tool, stir your mixture clockwise. during this step, you can choose to repeat or chant affirmations. (for me, personally, i will be focusing on my intentions of glamour and self confidence as i watch the water whirl around and around).
  8. after you feel the energy has infused into the mixture, take your two cotton balls and drop them into the water. allow them to soak up the mixture for a moment, and imagine them soaking up all the good energy, confidence and glamour.
  9. next, take one cotton ball and rub on your face. discard of the cotton ball. feel free to allow the mixture to sit on your face, or, pat dry with a washcloth. feel free to apply a lotion or moisturizer as well!
  10. take the next cotton ball from the vessel, and rub on your chest (heart), arms, and neck. discard of the cotton ball.
  11. feel free to bottle the remaining mixture (and crystals) in a spray bottle, and use whenever you need an extra “umph” to your morning routine. you can also bottle the remaining mixture (and crystals) in a spell bottle, and keep on your altar or in your bathroom and shake it whenever you need it. otherwise, keep the mixture in your vessel overnight, and discard by pouring into a pot of soil (or, simply in your backyard). feel free to collect the crystals before doing so — just be sure to cleanse/charge them before re-using them in another spell/ritual.

that’s it! happy full moon witches, and blessed be! ✨

Travel Powder : Howls Moving Castle

“Dust this powder on your sails and the winds wil favor you” -markl

Heyo! As I mentioned earlier this account was meant to be an online grimoire that would teach y’all how to make TV spells real! This is one of the first ones I made but it works pretty well.

Ingredients:

  • Dandelion seeds
  • Star Anise
  • Cottonwood fluff
  • Gossamer (optional)
  • Sand (preferably from a riverbank or ocean beach)
  • Dried clover (petals or leaves)
  • Confectioners sugar (optional)

Assembly:

  • Grind dandelion, anise, pollen and dried clover with mortar into a fine powder
  • Add your cottonwood and mix again
  • If you’ve decided to use confection sugar, add that now for sweet travels
  • Now add sand and gossamer and grind one last time
  • Once you’ve finished apply it where needed and store in a solid satchet.

I’ve used this on luggage, plane tickets, veils, tires, actual sails, dusted it on my boots, slapped it on talismans and now I keep it in my coat pocket.

It must be working too, or else the gods are willing it, I’ve never bumped into any trouble in my car, passed my drivers test on the first go, never had a flight delayed or cancelled, our hotels have got our rooms ready and none of my flights have featured crying babies. So. In contrast I feel it works just fine.

You could also use this for Aeromancy if you’re into the Artes Magicae 👉👉 blessings be and all that 🤗

Eda's Love Scrying Potion : TOH

Hey Howdy Folks, here's another POP spell made witchy! I've tried to stay true to the recipe above but I took some liberties so make the spell more accessible for modern witchcraft. This spell also follows acultomancy, which uses 21 needles to interpret a message when the water is moved.

Materials:

  • Honey (any kind) for love
  • Lemon/Orange juice for creativity and energy
  • Tears as a taglock for yourself or others
  • Scrying Oil (optional. Might drop my own recipe if yall want xx :))
  • Needles. If you have a deranged mother, use sewing needles. If not, toothpicks will also work fine, but be sure to use a shallow bowl as they float
  • Traditionally, Acultomancy requires 21 needles. Thats extra. If you want to be extra, use 21. I'm only gonna use 11 cause I don't want the whole damn pincushion rusty.

Preparing your scrying mix:

  • mix honey, lemon juice/orange juice, and mint tea with water
  • Add tears or a scrying oil.
  • Stir clockwise four rotations with intent
  • now add your needles. I recommend metal needles or scolecite pricks as they sink in water.
  • Stir with intent and document what figures you see your needles form.
˳✧༚ ☽ witchy activities to strengthen your craft & relationship with yourself ☾ ˚✧⁎

☾ perform literally any type of self care! our energy is constantly being drained either in spellwork, studying, or everyday life. you deserve it. (take a shower, drink some water, make some food, etc. don’t underestimate the power of taking care of yourself!)

☾ get some air dry clay and have fun with creating! you can make witchy items such as a pendulum, pendants, offerings, amulets to write talismans/sigils on, etc. and it’s even better because you’re making it with your own intent!

☾ when stressed, take a moment to connect with mother nature. this can be done wherever, even inside. imagine you are sitting in the grass. your roots are intertwined with those in the earth. they are giving you energy and strength. remind yourself everything is in divine timing.

☾ decorate your bos/grimoire and make it more ‘you’! remember, perfection is a completely made up term to make people overwork themselves. it doesn’t exist. what works for you, is perfect. what’s made with your hands, and your mind, is perfect.

☾ create a witchy playlist for when you’re doing spellwork/studying witchcraft! music can be incredibly uplifting. i’ve even created a witchy playlist for my blog! (check it out if you want hehe)

☾ wake up with the sun, go to sleep with the moon. have daily conversations with them both. realize they are your friends and are always there for you.

☾ record when you make mistakes magically! i know, this sounds like a nightmare to most neurodivergents. but you can use this to your advantage! you will learn from them, and eventually figure out what’s works for you and what doesn’t. knowing what works for you will empower you.

☾ carve sigils into your furniture for further protection! (and i mean your furniture, not your parents, roommates or siblings. please don’t vandalize things that aren’t yours)

☾ don’t stress yourselves out over labels. it can be fun to be this and that, but there is absolutely NO obligation to call yourself a certain type of witch! i have some witch friends that simply vibe, and practice all types. you can simply be a witch if you’d like.

☾ create your own set of rules/reminders/moral code to follow (ex. bible). although a lot of witches that i’ve met usually all follow the same type of moral code; if you’re not hurting anyone/anything, or meddling in anyone’s life, do what you please.

☾ cleanse your room/home! you’ll feel better, and sleep better. you can do this with incense, sunlight, sound, or herbs (please only use white sage if you’re native or if it has been gifted to you by a native person).

☾ don’t let ANYONE tell you how to do magic! it’s your craft! it doesn’t concern anyone else but you. if someone tries to tell you you’re doing something wrong, pay them no mind. (unless they are telling you that you are appropriating a culture, or something of the sorts then LISTEN!!!!)

Runes: Elder Futhark

Runes are an Ancient Germanic Alphabet that many use for divination. They can also be used as sigils because each Rune holds its own meaning. Witches write out the Runic Alphabet on small stones, bones, or marbles and gently toss them into a vessel and scry based on where they land or what falls at all.

The Elder Futhark is the oldest form of the Runic Alphabet, and is consisted of three aspects of three different deities being Freyja’s, Heimdall’s, and Tyr’s Aetts. Each Rune has a meaning and its own correspondences. The Younger Futhark are also referred to as Scandinavian runes, is considered to be a reduced form of the Elder Futhark, but still remains a runic alphabet with sixteen characters. These were most prominently used through the ninth century.

Freya’s Aett:

HOW THEIR PARENTS SEE YOU + HOW YOUR PARENTS SEE THEM

so i’ve seen other tarot readers do something link this, and this idea came into my head so i was like, why not? all you have to do is pick TWO piles for each section. the 1,2,3 section is how your FS or s/o parents see you/view you. and the a,b,c section is how YOUR parents see/view your FS (really hope that explains it well)

please tell me if you would like more PAC like these and PLEASSEEEE send in some PAC ideas

𓂉𓂉𓂉
PILE 1

four of swords - queen of wands - the star - queen of cups - seven of swords - the hierophant - nine of pentacles

so i’m seeing that they genuinely like you. like there’s this stigma around in-laws not liking who people are dating/married to BUT then again that’s not always the case. im seeing that you will have a good relationship with their parents and they actually will like your presence. i think it’s by the way you carry yourself and the way you talk. just how you present yourself to then and others makes you very likable. i’m seeing you as someone very respectful, and their parents may be the type that are very formal and traditional. i see they have this mindset that respect for older peers is gone, but you will be beyond respectful. i actually see them talking about you to other people, and normally people would view this as a bad thing, but they are actually talking good. they love the way you care for yourself and your fs or s/o. you’re a very calm person and can be very nice with your words, so i see you being very kind to them and they just like… love you.

PILE 2

justice - seven of cups - the chariot - three of wands - five of pentacles - the tower - the sun

i see they view you as someone who is very talkative. i think you may talk their head off when you first meet and not even realize it. they won’t judge you for it, they may zone you out tho… either way, i see that they will notice how you have sort of a bubbly personality and just a very charismatic attitude. i’m seeing that they’ll notice the way you talk to your fs or s/o and something about it might surprise them, or sort of confuse them. i think they think of you as someone who isn’t necessarily their son/daughters type so it may be like… different to them, i guess? they do noticed you’re super fast paced though, i think they love how you’re up to do lots of things and have just this leadership way of living. they also note how you don’t like the word, ‘no’… like for some reason they’re careful with that word around you. however; on the lower side, they notice how you sort of have a burnout (your fs may notice that as well) and they do care for you and get worried. i see during hard times or when your attitude changes they call you or sort of have a conversation to see how you’re doing. they never want to be in any sort of pain.

PILE 3

page of wands - ten of wands - five of cups - eight of cups - seven of wands - temperance - death - king of cups

sooo being straightforward they sort of see you as someone with lots of emotions. and having emotion isn’t bad but they think you’re someone who is pretty dramatic. i feel like they don’t take the time to understand other peoples feelings completely so they immediately judge you. i notice that they don’t really have that much of a care for you, they think you’re fit enough to care for yourself, and even at times thought ‘why would they even be dating my child’. i do see however they enjoy your cleverness. i see that you are someone who is just super clever, and this is super random, and good at riddles????? that popped up in my head.

——
PILE A

four of swords - the high priestess - strength - justice

there’s so little cards but so many messages, omg okay… so your parents think of them as like very intelligent and someone that has a strong mindset. i think they will be super surprised by meeting this person and the fact you’re with them cause it’s like… i hear them saying ‘they’re literally perfect’. i think conversations between your FS and your parents will last a lonngggggg time, they’re really good at carrying conversations. i wonder if they’re someone in higher class OR someone that’s like an owner of something, ‘cause i see when gifting they will gift your parents something like expensive?? maybe it’s only a bit odd to me since people in my family never really do that, but they’re generous with EVERYONE and your parents will for sure like them. (i made that sound like just for their money but love their personality not their money lmao)

PILE B

nine or cups - nine of pentacles - seven of wands - four of cups - ace of pentacles - four of swords - three of swords - strength - two of pentacles

okay so a lot of cards flew out which is making me think that your parents have ALOT to say about them. so first off, they notice the strength and balance your FS has. i see they ask you a lot of questions about them because they’re very curious. i dont necessarily see your FS as someone mysterious or super quiet, but i don’t think they sort of talk about themselves alot. i see that your parents may be a bit pushy with them, i do see you probably getting annoyed by it since they may cross boundaries. i don’t see them doing it like on purpose or to make you mad, i think they’re just super curious about them?

PILE C

two of cups - king of cups - knight of wands - wheel of fortune - queen of wands

wow so, first off… your fs is smooth asf. anyways. your parents will LOVEEEEEE your FS????? like this relationship will bring you good luck… big time. your parents will adore your fs because of just their attitude and their confidence. your FS seems really respectful but also has this independence to them and like your parents are like; “wow i’m so happy my child is dating/married to you right now.” i do see your parents may spoil your FS a lot. like don’t get jealous but your FS seems to just have good luck follow them, and so they’re sort of gifted lots. your parents = spoiling your FS

Okay, I’ve been really struggling to connect with certain aspects of Hellenic polytheism and I think my main issues are not really knowing where to start. Who to start WITH that wants to work with me.

Are there any fairly reputable places to get a deity reading? I know they won’t be 100% accurate, but I still would like all the help I could get. 😅

If anyone knows of anyone that does good deity readings please let me know! 💜

While a God "wanting you" might be a concept for various witchcraft traditions (or neo-pagan traditions I don't know about) when it comes specifically to Hellenic Polytheism you do not need to find a God who "wants to work with you." I recognize that you might still want divination for the matter and that's perfectly fine. But I want to stress how this is not the case within the religion of Hellenic Polytheism hence this long post.

Think about all the God you like, throw all their names into a hat, pull one out. Ta dah you've picked a God— I'm going to give much more thoughtful ideas but it is literally that simple.

In this religion you can pick any of the Theoi and begin worshipping period end of story. No divination, no signs, no feelings, just sincere worship. That is all that is needed.

The Gods are worthy of worship and will appreciate that worship from any sincere person. There are zero historical precedents to say that Gods wanted worship from these individuals but not these individuals. There is zero historical precedent that every individual person needed divinations or signs to figure out which God to worship.

Ancient people's lives were permeated by the Gods both in the home, community, and government. Thus they worshipped which ever Gods played major roles in the traditions of their area and region.

Where To Start:

If you want an altar:

  1. Clear up a space big or small. Make sure it is clean.
  2. Choose an item for the God such as a picture of them, a statue, or some other object. Place it in that space.
  3. Add anything you might like: candle, incense, flowers, cloth to cover surface, decorations, etc. This is a space for the Gods in your home and life.
  4. Many Hellenic Polytheists will also keep Khernips (by @/forthegloryofthetheoi) aka purified water on their altar/shrine
  5. If you'd like you can keep a cup and bowl for libations at this space
  6. You can keep a prayer book or religious journal here also

Basic Act of Worshiping— I'm using Zeus as an example:

  1. Wash hands.
  2. Prepare a glass of water or other liquid
  3. Go to the altar if you have one
  4. Wipe hands with Khernips (unless you made an entire bowl to wash hands in the sacred water which I don't)
  5. Sprinkle Khernips lightly on the altar space
  6. Light the candle or incense if you use either
  7. "O Mighty Zeus, King of the Gods, you are strong and powerful. I have come to honor you"
  8. Hold up the glass of water
  9. "Zeus, Lord of lightning, I offer you this water out of gratitude and love. I have given to you before and I will give to you again"
  10. Pour the water slowly either into a separate bowl, onto the ground, into a fire, or down a clean sink.
  11. "Zeus, strong and powerful, I ask that you help me get through today's conference call. I thank you and say farewell."

Simpler, you can even do this at a sink or in a shower:

  1. Wash hands
  2. Take glass of water and hold it up
  3. "Zeus you are mighty and powerful, I seek your help for this meeting, this water I have brought is to show my desire to honor you"
  4. Pour water out into bowl, ground, fire, or clean sink.
  5. "Thank you, Zeus, King of the Gods"

The above is important because it builds reciprocity (Kharis) between Gods and mortals. But other worship activities include:

  • Say a prayer when lighting incense to state that it as an offering
  • Meditate at the altar. Let the idea of your gods help calm your soul
  • Dance or sing for the Gods at your altar or play them music
  • Read the myths aloud to the Gods at your altar
  • Say longer prayers and supplication if you desire. Guide by @/olivewreathed and Guide by @/sisterofiris
  • Give food, which is similar to the libation formula. Hellenic Polytheists disagree on what to do with the food afterwards which is why I always suggest a libation at the beginning.
  • Make sure to tend to the space you've created and keep it clean
  • Create a Kathiskos. Guide from Hellenion. Video Guide by @baringtheaegis who is very recon centered.
  • Continue to learn but do not let the idea of learning hinder your worship
  • Not so much worship but practicing, Arete ("excellence" being your best self), Xenia (Hospitality and I also take this to mean treating other's well), Eusebia (piety towards the Gods), and Sophia (pursuit of knowledge). These are important aspects of Hellenic Polytheism beyond prayer and the altar.

I suggest Labrys Household Worship book here is an article that has a lot of the book. And while I have not finished reading it yet, thus far Hellenic Paganism by Samantha Leaver has been excellent. Also a masterpost on Hellenic Polytheism compiled by @pinkhellenicgods.

Some Ideas for Choosing a Theos to begin with:

You can pick literally any (or none) of these I'm not trying to overwhelm anyone I'm just trying to give a whole dump of ideas for people. I suggest Theoi.com for easy access info on the Theoi.

🔹You could start with Hestia because she is Goddess of the home and thus an excellent place to start in my opinion.

🔹Zeus and Hera the King and Queen of The Theoi

🔹A Theos or Daimon related to your work/studies. Examples.

  • Apollo or Asklepios for the health care field
  • Hermes for communication or information technology fields
  • Gaia for environmental fields
  • Themis, Dike, Zeus for legal fields
  • Athena, Metis, or Sophia for general studies
  • Hephestios for engineering fields
  • Rhea, Artemis, Apollo, Hera, or Zeus for parenthood
  • Nyx if you work the "graveyard shift"

🔹A Theos or Daimon related to something you want to improve in your life. Example

  • Aphrodite or the Khairtes for self-love or if you struggle with body image issues
  • Hermes or Iris for communication abilities or interpersonal conflict
  • Hygeia for struggles with hygiene or disorganization
  • The Nymphai for building environmental sustainable life habits
  • Sophrosyne or Dionysos for substance abuse (You cannot convince me that his realm of drinking excludes moderation or elimination if it is a problem for a worshipper)
  • Demeter, Hestia, Hephaistos, Pan, Artemis for any problems surrounding food
  • Hypnos for sleep hygiene or sleep disorders
  • Soteria for easing fears
  • Hermaphroditos, Aphrodite, Dionysos, for LGBT+ identity and issues (Ace inclusive)

🔹A Theos or Daimon related to things you want to do. Example:

  • Athena for weaving or other handcrafts
  • The Mousai for learning an instrument
  • Themis or Dike for activism work
  • Nike for sports
  • Apollo or Phoibe for divination
  • Poseidon for ocean or water activities
  • Xenia (or any of the Gods with that epithet) for charity work
  • Hermes for writing

There are many more bullets that could be added and Gods that could be added to each of the existing bullet points. Especially when epithets come into play.

Some Practice Ideas...

...I've considered (most of which I haven't done) that could be useful brainstorming:

🔹Which ever of the Gods you chose simply give them a libation once a day with the short prayer. You can pick a time or better yet an activity to make it consistent. For example, do it directly after you finish getting dressed. Do it right before you eat breakfast or dinner. Do it before you get ready for bed. Etc, that way it stays consistent and you always have a reminder.

🔹Surrounding the passage of the day/time. The prayers can be very short letting you do them by simply pausing for a minute or two. You can offer a simple libation in the morning and/or night with the prayer.

  • Prayer to Hemera or Helios in the morning

Prayer Example: "Beautiful Hemera, I thank you for this day, I seek your favor and honor you with my actions. Good morning."

  • Prayer to Nyx or Selene at night
  • Prayer to Helios at noon if you don't pray to him in the morning. (I do solar noon but you can just do noon)

Prayer Example: "Shining Helios, as you reach your peak this day, I remember you, I thank you for your life giving light."

  • Incorporation of 12-Horai such as Mesembria at noon, Dysis at sundown, not sure if Auge would be dawn and Anatole sunrise—but you get the idea.
  • Prayer to one of the 4-Horai each day of the season we are in— so right now in Northern Hemisphere Kheimon (Winter) tacked on at morning or night

🔹Surrounding daily activities. And I do mean like 3 sentence prayers.

  • Prayer to Hemera or Auge upon waking
  • Prayer to Hygeia before showering or brushing teeth

Prayer Example: "Gentle laughing Hygeia, I enter this shower so I may cleanse myself. I remember your beauty and wish to honor you with my actions, so you may look favorably upon me"

  • Prayer to Apollo or other health Theoi when you take your medication (if you have it)
  • Prayer to Hestia at mealtime or before cooking

Prayer Example: "Hestia, first and last among the Olympians, home maker, I cook this food through your strength and thank you for this flame. May my body be replenished"

  • Prayer to Hermes, Hekate, or Apollo Argyieus, or Soteria when leaving house
  • Prayer to a Theos related to work/education as you arrive at work or school.
  • Prayer to a Theos related to a hobby or leisure activity when you start it
  • Prayer to Hypnos when you go to bed

You can make any combination that would follow the path of your daily activities; it could be any number too this is just an example. And perhaps one libation in the morning or night

🔹Focus on the "Household Gods" which I linked info above

  • Hestia
  • Zeus Ktesios
  • Zeus Herkeios
  • Apollo Argyieus
  • Hermes
  • Hekate
  • (Modern) Hera Oikos

🔹Follow a calendar like schedule to give a libation & prayer, as outlined above, to specific deities on certain days:

2 week period based on the order the Olympians were born in (or rather the order the internet told me)

  • 1st Hestia
  • 2nd Hera
  • 3rd Demeter
  • 4th Hades
  • 5th Posideon
  • 6th Zeus
  • 7th Athena
  • 8th Aphrodite
  • 9th Ares
  • 10th Artemis
  • 11th Apollo
  • 12th Hephestios
  • 13th Dionysos
  • 14th Whomever you wish

7 Day Version

  • 1st Hestia, Zeus & Hera
  • 2nd Apollo & Artemis
  • 3rd Hades with Persephone during Fall & Winter
  • 4th Aphrodite & Ares
  • 5th Demeter with Persephone during Spring & Summer
  • 6th Athena & Hephestios
  • 7th Poseidon & Dionysos

I took this and simplified it. Its based on historical stuff like Heisods Work and Days some days have no Gods listed:

  • 1st Selene, Apollo [Noumenios], Zeus Herkios and Ktesios, Hestia, and the other Theoi of the Household
  • 2nd Agathos Daimon
  • 3rd Athena
  • 4th Aphrodite, Eros, Herakles, and Hermes, as well as perhaps Poseidon, Apollo, and Hermaphrodite
  • 5th The Erinyes, Eris, and Horkos
  • 6th Artemis
  • 7th Apollo
  • 8th Poseidon, Asklepios and Theseus
  • 9th The Mousai, Helios, Rhea
  • 11th The Moirae (Klotho, Lakhesis, and Atropos)
  • 13th Athena
  • 15th The Erinyes, Eris, and Horkos
  • 16th Artemis
  • 21st Apollo, [Demeter]
  • 23rd Athena
  • 25th The Erinyes, Eris, and Horkos
  • 30th Hekate

I'd love to make my own 30 day thing (as well as the 2 weeks or 7 days not focused solely on the 13 Olympians) because the above just doesn't click, but that's a project for another day. Also do not worry about calendars or festivals this is just an idea.

I think that covers the ideas in my head, thanks for reading if you got this far

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for all this information! I really appreciate it. 💜 I’m going to go reread and then figure out when/how I’m going to implement some of this.

This is a 5 card spread simply about your love with your partner. Have you ever wondered about how well of a match you and your partner are? How much you affect each other? This spread can be used with any divination tool you prefer to use. Endless love and joy to all.

(Image Description: A large rectangle box with a fancy design near the middle of the image. There are card boxes that mark 1-5 within them. They are located in the middle of the image. Below the boxes is a text box that reads, “Piece of my heart. Wasteland-Magic.” The text is aligned to the middle of the box. Above the text is three pixelated hearts. The colors in this image are a ray of pinks. A darker pink, a medium pink, and a light pink.)

One of my favorite ways to spell cast is with a deck of tarot cards. It’s so simple and effective, and you can literally use this basic spell for anything you want to draw in or release from your life. You can use any tarot deck for this spell technique, but I keep an older deck that I don’t use for readings anymore and use that.

What you need:

You can improvise in any way, but I usually have incense burning, a few white candles out (tea lights are my fave) and whatever crystals I feel are appropriate for the issue at hand. You can always use a general white quartz if you’re unsure.

I always include a physical portion of whatever I’m spell casting for. If it’s a job I want, I might print out my resume and have it laying on the bottom, or collect a some dirt from around the building. If the spell is about me, I might cut a lock of my hair. Just so there is something to anchor the spell to.

I will usually add whatever other elements I might need for visualization or to set the tone. Some things I have used was ribbons for school colors, pictures, herbs that have relevant properties and things like that.

What you’ll do:

Start out by predetermining which three tarot cards you want to use. If I am looking for a job for instance I might choose the 10 of pentacles to represent money, judgement to represent the decision of me working and a third card that closely represents the work I will be doing.

Begin your spell by casting a circle or simply visualizing a bright white light around you, protecting you and your space. Light your candles and incense. Set out your physical items leaving space for your cards.

Set out the first one and visualize in your minds eye the intention of your spell. Then lay out the second one and visualize you getting what you want or the decision being made in your favor. Set out your third card and visualize you in the position of where you want to be.

Meditate on this for a few minutes, making sure you are releasing your intention out into the world and knowing that if there is any mundane work to be done that you are committed to your part. (Mundane work would be working on your resume, brushing up on any skills, and submitting for the job…basically doing your best effort to get where you want to be.)

When you feel like you have released your intention, blow out the candles (or let them burn up to you) and ignite your incense. Thank the energies and release your circle however you want to.

Collect all the items and place them in a small bag and carry them with you. Leave your tarot cards out (if you can) and revisit that energy as many times as you want until your spell is successful. Happy casting!

Tips for the Cheap Witch: Rune Stones

Really simple way to get started with runestones!

Just buy some glass beads from the dollar store (where I bought them), Walmart, Michaels,

They should be fairly large, mine are a bit larger than my thumb (and I would’ve liked a little larger), and have a flat bottom.

Then take a sharpie to em and write each rune on them!

For the best look write the runes backwards so the rounded top is facing the right way

Here are all the runes mirrored!

Once you have them all sharpied put a layer of clear nail polish top coat so they don’t rub off, and there you are!

🧚🎉Fairy Festivals🎉🧚

🎉 Fairy festivals take place at crossover points in the seasons. Equinoxes and solstices are determined by the position of the Sun, but the other four festivals are celebrated when the time feels right, so the dates given below are approximate.
🎉 There are other festivals too, such as Christmas Eve,Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. Any human festival that touches on old traditions, from Ramadan to a Japanese Flower Festival, is a fairy feast. If you celebrate these festivals and make the effort to tune into what concerns the fairies, you will draw closer to their world. If you celebrate a special meal, remember to leave a little outside afterward for the fairies

1.  🌷 Imbolic - 🌷

image
  • February 2 in the Northern Hemisphere/July 31 in the Southern Hemisphere
  • Imbolc means “in the belly,” and this is the time when life stirs in the belly of the earth. Frost sparkles and the pale light lingers each evening, bringing the message that spring is on the horizon. Imbolc is the delicate crossover point from winter’s depths into the New Year. It is a feast of lightness and brightness, but also a time of cleansing,to make way for the new. The Hag, who is Dark Goddess or Dark Fairy, gives way now to the Maiden, who is young and radiant.
  • Fairies love neatness and good housekeeping,so it is a good idea to have a late-winter sort-out,in preparation for fresh activity. While the fairies are busy coaxing snowdrops and crocuses out of the winter-hard earth,do something creative of your own, such as knitting, painting,or writing poetry. Ask the fairies to lend you a little of their magic by leaving them an offering, such as a piece of wool or a verse written just for them.
  • This feast is also called candlemas, sacred to St.Bridget, who was the successor to the pagan goddess Bride (pronounced “Breed”). Bride was the keeper of the sacred flame, which represents eternal life. She is the patroness of poetry, smithcraft, child birth, and healing, and is a very powerful fairy indeed. Invite her into your home by lighting as many candles as you like, in your windows and around your house. Ask her to bless your projects for the coming year, and pledge a special act of caring for the natural world in return,to seal your pact as the year waxes.

2. 🌼 Spring Equinox- 🌼

image
  • March 21 in the Northern Hemisphere/September 21 in the Southern Hemisphere
  • The fairies are very busy at the Spring Equinox, looking after all the flowers that are newly blooming.Scandinavian fairies become active now: the Russian cellar fairy,The Domoviyr, casts off its skin and grows a lighter one for summer; and the Russian Rusalki,or river fairies are glimpsed by lakes swollen with melted snow.
  • A tree planting project is a very fairy-friendly activity at this time. A seasonal blitz on the garden is also called for. While you are hard at work, digging and pulling away at dead winter twigs, it is easy to go into a kind of trance. This, coupled with the spell of the natural world around you,can create the perfect state of mind to catch a glimpse of fairies. You can be sure they are near you, helping you with their energies.Plant some seeds of your choice and, as you put them in the earth, close your eyes and make a special request for fairy help. Visualize the fairies tending your seeds, giving them their love and care. Ask out loud for the fairies to help you,and sing or hum and you plant. Touch the soft soil with your bare hands and make real contact with the earth.
  • Place water in a pottery or glass jug (plastic or metal is best avoided) and leave it out in the noon sunshine. Ask the fairies to bless it. Imagine them dancing around it and coming up to touch it with their glimmering fingers. Use the water to give your houseplants a special spring blessing.
  • The Green Man is a powerful nature spirit that has been sensed by many people. He is represented in numerous churches as the Foliate Mask (a face made up of leaves),and one theory about his presence is that the masons who fabricated him had hidden sympathies with the old nature- worship. He is making his appearance now on some new park benches and monuments. However, you can make contact with the real Green Man out alone walking through the woodland. Ancient and wise,he is watching you. Catch a glimpse of him behind tree trunks or in the lacework of budding branches. Hear his footfalls behind you as you walk. He is the very breath of Nature, and his strength is bursting forth in springtime.

3. 💐 Beltane - 💐

image
  • April 30 in the Northern Hemisphere/October 31 in the Southern Hemisphere
  • Of all the festivals, Beltane is the most flagrantly joyful and sensuous as Nature is bursting forth with beauty and excitement. This was the Celtic beginning of summer, and also marked an important transition for the people of Fairy, for it was the time when the Milesian Celts landed on the shores of south-west Ireland. With this, the last of the magical peoples, the Tuatha de Danann, receded from the the world of humans into the Hollow Hills and became the people of the Sidhe.
  • However, they and the other fairy folk have not gone very far. You will find them dancing in a bluebell wood or skipping in the sunshine, sheltered by a greening hedge. Beltane is the time when good fairies reign supreme and bad fairies retreat. Fairies are very active now and may try to steal butter,or some of the ritual fire that used to be ignited on hilltops and is still lit by modern pagans.
  • This is the maypole season, but instead you can always dance around a friendly tree. Link hands with friends, and you may find yourselves spontaneously re-creating the kind of things people used to to do when seeing fairies was commonplace:lingering, walking, and talking, in the open air, away from television, computers, and other modern distractions.
  • There are many tales of beautiful fairies marrying mortals. Such tales usually end in tragedy, for fairy and human can never truly be joined. Better to borrow some of the fairy enchantment by performing a little magic of your own! Rise early on May Day and wash your face in the dew or simply walk in it. As the rhyme says: “The fairy maid who, the first of May Goes to the fields at break of day, And walk in dew from the hawthorn tree, Will ever handsome be.”
  • Welsh legend tells how the hero Pwll saw the Lady Rhiannon riding past him at Beltane and, after pursuing her, he eventually won her. Rhiannon is one aspect of the Fairy Queen, riding on her white horse between the worlds. As you sit quietly outside,on a bank in the late spring dusk, listen for the sounds of her horse’s hooves, and open your eyes to the shimmer of her sea-blue cloak. When Rhiannon touches your heart, she will fill it with love and inspiration.

4. 🌹 Midsummer -  🌹

image
  • June 22 in the Northern Hemisphere/December 22 in the Southern Hemisphere
  • This is one of the most magical times of the year, when fairies are very active and visible, playing pranks and even, it is said, stealing away the young and beautiful to join them in the Hollow Hills. The sun is now at the height of its strength and this is an important crossover point, such as the fairies love. For at the Midsummer Solstice the sun stands still, before beginning to recede as we move into the waning half of the year.
  • Flowers are colorful and luxuriant, and one radiant day seems to merge into another, as late dusk meets early dawn. At no time is the natural world more inviting. Take part in it by going on quests -long walks to sacred spots, evening camping out with the minimum of equipment,to draw close to the mystery that is all around, and to the Fair Folk in particular.
  • The rose is possibly the most sensuous bloom of all, and at midsummer it is often at its most gorgeous. Roses in the garden are especially likely to attract fairies. Distil water from rose petals and add it to your bath, asking the fairies to lend you some of their enchantment and to help you attract love. Brew tea from rosebuds and drink it,to increase your psychic powers.Plant a rose bush with a friend, to affirm the loving bound between you and invite the fairies into your life.
  • St.John’s wort is a herb known to break any negative fairy enchantment and drive away depression. Pluck some on Midsummer’s Day and carry it, to keep cheerful.
  • Look out for water nymphs by streams, or for undines for water elementals on the seashore- or for even the Lady of the Lake herself, rising from the luminous depths. In olden times, these beings were said to have no souls. It is closer to the truth to say that they do not have human morals. Conventions often conceal or feelings, but the beauty of the water fairies opens us to our unconscious tides; see them and let yourself be transformed.

5. 🌾Lammas- 🌾

image
  • July 31 in the Northern Hemisphere/February 2 in the Southern Hemisphere
  • Lammas is “Loaf Mass,” a christian version of a much older festival known as Lughnasadh, or the “Feast of Lugh.” Lugh was a Celtic god, lord of the Tuatha de Danann, and his name means “bright one.” Lughnasadh is a major fairy festival, and many fairies become active during this period, such as the Russian Polevik, who kicks sleepy harvesters awake. It is also a time when fairies move about in preparation for winter, and processions of them may be seen as a line of twinkling lights moving between the hills in the countryside.
  • At Lammas, the fields are golden with corn and splashed with red poppies. It is hazy, lazy time of holidays and abundance, but there is an underlying theme of death, for the Corn Spirit must be sacrificed in order to reap the harvest. If you walk out into a field of ripe wheat, you may sense the anger of the nature spirits as what is to be taken from the earth, even thought that is a part of the natural cycle of life.Gather up some ears of wheat and tie them into a bunch with red thread,to make a charm for the coming winter to hang over your hearth. At the same time, pledge an act of caring for the earth, such as clearing a derelict site in your neighborhood or garden, or planting and tending a herb, as payment for what you-and all of us- take from it.
  • At home, bake your own bread, using the rising of the dough as a spell to ensure that everything prospers in your life. While you are kneading the bread dough, say to yourself “As this dough swells, so may my fortunes increase.” Ask for your own personal Brownie, or house fairy, to come and help your bread rise- and remember to leave some breadcrumbs outside afterward, for the fairies.
  • Some say that Lugh is lord of the waning year, and his dance- through the waving, whispering corn- is a dance of death. If so, it is a reminder that all things come in cycles, and that everything is united in love and beauty. Stand at the edge of a sun-kissed wheat field and see the shimmer and sway that betrays the presence of Lugh. Take a few moments to feel respect for the earth in your heart, and understand the meaning of the Wheel of Life.

6. 🍁 Autumn Equinox (Mabon) - 🍁

image
  • September 21 in the Northern Hemisphere/March 21 in the Southern Hemisphere
  • At the Autumn Equinox, Nature stands poised between light and dark, but darkness is gaining. The veil between this world and the Otherworld is at its thinnest, and all manner of spirit visitations are more frequent now.
  • The hedgerows are beaded with berries, and mist lingers in the hollows. Sometimes the wind whistles in from nowhere and tosses baring branches. On other says, the mellow sun caresses the fields with slanting fingers. It is a time for reflection, but also for industry. In days gone by, preserves would be made for winter store and the help of the Good Folk would be sought by country people.
  • Absorb the atmosphere of the season by going blackberrying. In Celtic countries, there may be a taboo on eating blackberries, because these belong especially to fairies. However, as long as you gather them with respect and do not denude the bramble bushes, they will hardly object. Better still, leave out some of your homemade blackberry pie or wine for them,so that they will bless you. When this month ends, leave the blackberries alone and move on. Also look out for a bramble bush that forms an arch-so much the better if it faces east/west, for that mirrors the passage of the sun. Crawl through this three times on a sunny day to be healed of physical ills, especially rheumatism and skin troubles.
  • At this mysterious time, pay honor to Queen Mab. Her special gift is to bring dreams and visions to birth within us. She is really one of many manifestations of the Goddess, in her autumnal guise of wise-woman and Lady of Magic, and she is linked with ancient ideas of sovereignty- for the king drew his power from the land, and Mab presided.
  • Preferably at the Full Moon closest to the equinox, place good-quality wine in a stemmed glass or chalice, and take it into the garden or a secluded place.Raise the glass to the Moon, say, “Mab, I honor you”and pour some of the wine onto the earth. Drink a little and say, “Mab, I drink with you,” Then return home, light a bright-green candle beside your bed, gaze at the flame and say, “Mab,give me wisdom,” Place some jasmine or rose oil on your pillow, extinguish the candle-and drift into Fairyland. This is a little ritual that you can repeat during any Full Moon if you wish.

7. 🎃 Samhain - 🎃

image
  • October 31 in the Northern Hemisphere/April 30 in the Southern Hemisphere
  • Samhain means “summer’s end” and is pronounced “sa-wen.” This ancient Celtic festival at the official start of the winter was later Christianized as Halloween- a time when the dead were remembered. There was always a sinister aspect to Samhain, because certain sacrifices had to be made in order to survive the coming cold weather. Animals had to be slaughtered, and some say that human sacrifice took place to propitiate the spirits. Sacrifice, however, is a corruption of nature worship, for life is hard enough as it is and all we have to do is show respect.
  • Barrow mounds, shrouded in mist, are particularly eerie places at Samhain. Draw close,if you dare, and sit quietly.Do you hear the strange,far-off noise of fairy music,or the sound of knocking? Maybe the mound will open for you and unearthly light will stream over the barren fields. After Samhain, the earth is given over to the powers of darkness and decay. No crops or berries may be harvested after this time, because the Phooka, a malevolent Irish Fairy, blights them. The true meaning here,of course,is that death and decay have a place in the natural order, requiring due honor and respect lest they get out of hand.
  • Traditionally, this is the start of the story telling season. While the wind whistles around the eaves or the mist comes down outside, gather family or friends around your hearth- preferably with a real fire burning in it. If you do not have an open hearth, substitute a collection of large, burning candles. Sit round and speak of times gone by and people who have passed over to the other side.Ask the Beloved Dead to be present, if you wish(but note that this is not a seance, and the Beloved Dead are invited, not summoned). Laugh, share funny stories, feast, and drink.
  • Cerridwen is the Underworld Goddess and the Fairy Hag most associated with this time. In her magic cauldron, she stirs a brew that confers inspiration and transformation. Simmer up a hearty soup of root vegetables or pumpkin, to share with friends, then light a black candle and ask Cerridwen to guide you through the darkness into the light. You will  be both safe and wise.

8.  ❄️ Yule - ❄️

image
  • December 22 in the Northern Hemisphere/June 22 in the Southern Hemisphere
  • Yule is the Midwinter Solstice, when the sun again appears to stand still,as it did at midsummer, but the season is poised for the return of light. Celebrations of Christ’s birth were moved to coincide with the much more ancient solstice.
  • As you deck your Christmas tree, remember that the evergreen is a powerful symbol of the enduring life in Nature. Of course,is has a fairy on top of it,confirming that it is a festival of the Fair Folk, who also rejoice in the sun’s rebirth. Decorating your tree is an important magical act,for the decorations are fairy charms. Each member of the family should hang at least one special charm of their own,to enable a wish to come true.
  • Jack Frost is an active fairy in the cold weather, painting windows with intricate lacework. In Russia he is called Father Frost, the soul of winter, covering the trees in ice. Do not shrink from the frost fairy-go out and wonder at his works and he will reward you with hope and joy, just as in Russia Father Frost brings presents for the children on New Year’s Day.
  • By far the best-known and most powerful fairy at Yule is Father Christmas himself. Today we know him by his robes of red and white, but in the past he also wore green and other colors. As we have seen, red is the color both of life and death, and many fairies wear red caps. The hearty red of Father Christmas is a sign that he is an Otherworld being-very much alive, but not of this earth. He is recognized all over the world, as Kris Kringle in Germany and Pere Noel in France. In Brazil he is Papa Noel, and in China Dun Che Loa. He is the essence of Yuletide mystery, joy and renewal, and like many traditional fairies, he comes in and out via the hearth.
  • When all is quiet on Christmas Eve, get ready to welcome Father Christmas- light a candle and look at the stars. Pledge a gift for a friend and one for the world, and ask for a special gift to answer your heart’s desire. Write your wish on a piece of paper and “post” it up the chimney if you have an open fire. If not, burn it in the candle flame. Can you hear those sleigh bells?
