Relationships and gifts

Bit of a rant, but it really annoys me how a lot of relationships feel they have to validate their love via expensive gifts, like what?? If someone has to buy something to show they love you rather than spending that time with you and being your best friend, then is it even real? One girl during my theatre lesson was expressing how her boyfriend got her "so much stuff for Christmas and spent do much money" on her. Okay, let me pause you there honey, thats all well and good if you're in a long term relationship and you know the likes and dislikes, ins and outs of that significant other, but you've been going out like 4 months. If he needs to give you a mass amount of presents to show his love and affection for you rather than putting thought and messages behind a potentially smaller gift that might not cos as much as the Pandora ring and expensive perfume and underwear set he got you, plus a lot more, then does he really know you? Does he really understand what you want with the relationship?? Do you even know what you want out of this relationship? Granted yes, I have only been in my relationship a little over a year, and yes I dont have as much experience than most people, but personally, I much prefer a well thought out gift with a good and meaningful message behind. Quality over quantity you could say. I dont know, maybe its just me 😂

Outside gigs check list

Wether it be concerts, festivals or fairs, this is a list of the things that have helped me

  • A day pack for all your stuff, theres usually a place you can store it if you dont want to wear it all day (have it close to you, not all the way back at your car)
  • Sunscreen, bring enough to share
  • Layers, they dont call them micro climates for nothing
  • Cold water, I swear sometimes its better than coffee (check out hydroflasks, they are amazing)
  • Hearing protection, the foam ones are good, (especially if someone else needs some, they will thank you forever), but etymotics and dubs are great, you can keep them in while having a conversation with someone because they just take everything down by 12db
  • Eye shade of some sort, hat, sunglasses, what have you (polarized are the business)
  • Something to cover your nose and mouth, if youre outside, theres bound to be dust, save your sinuses for another day (and the shock of blowing your nose later)
  • Change of socks, change them every four hours, you will feel like a new person (if you have an appropriate change of shoes, even better)
  • Deodorant, not necessary, but very courteous (if you have spray, you could save someones day)
  • Old union trick, dont wear your show blacks until the show! loading in a show in the scorching daylight in your full blacks just sucks, keep those for later, nobody likes heat exhaustion or filing out incident reports
  • Snacks, energy bars, dried fruit, anything thats keeps (dont get chocolate covered bars tho, they are stupid messy), anything to give you that extra boost between meals (again, if you bring enough to share, you will be a god)

I wish you all a good concert season, stay safe!

I also just though it might be prudent to toss a lock in there, just in case they have lockers, or if anything else you can lock your zippers together

Also, for all the little things you might want to keep even closer to you, and you don’t have pockets? Fanny packs are he business
