I don’t know how people aren’t more appalled by this. This is literal proof that the rich could solve the majority of the world’s problems if they WANTED. I guess some old ass church built by the world’s largest pedophile ring is more important than human lives. Not to mention that indigenous people around the world have had to stand by and watch their own sacred places destroyed ON PURPOSE and nobody bats a fucking eye. Don’t get me started on the water crisis in Flint. Yeah, Flint still DOESNT HAVE WATER but sure, Apple is going to donate fucking money for a church that’s burned multiple times. Like, I get it, it’s a religious and cultural symbol. But so is Al-Aqsa masjid (third holiest masjids in Islam) and the three black churches in Louisiana. Where is the out pour those churches? Where is the “omg this is the worst thing ever. Our history as humanity is threatened” when the 45th signed off on selling protected land? Where was fucking Apple to help then?! 

It’s at 1 billion now in just under 2 days and this is really how I’m feeling right now. I get the religious significance of this place but this much money flooding to it in this short amount of time really proves billionaires have the most fucked up priorities.

How abt y’all donate to those church’s thathave been HISTORICALLY burned down in hate crimes?

we talk abt how white boys are school shooters but don’t forget so many of them have white fan girls who literally want to do the same thing. don’t forget that currently a white girl who was obsessed with the columbine shooters is at LARGE in denever attempting to recreate a school massacre. if i’m correct in the past white girls have attempted shootings but they were stopped. now one is at large.

A while back, a woman was arrested because she was planning a shooting and guess what? She had been in contact with Dylan Roof aka the guy that shot up a black church.

Laika are goddamn ARTISTS and MASTERS OF THEIR CRAFT. Look at the animation on Kubo and tell me it doesn’t feel more like CGI than stop motion sometimes because it’s so smooth.

I love them so much.

Kubo deserves so much more love than it gets. Like people still love to ride Coraline and Paranorman like they’re the best things ever made, but Kubo is so much more amazing than both combined.

Box Trolls is also really good, but I feel like less people want to defend it because it looks “ugly” compared to the others. The story is a bit jumbled but I really enjoyed the characters in it. Also what cheese lover can’t agree they’d be the villain who’s allergic to cheese but loves it too much to stop.

Has anyone else noticed how, when you have a chronic condition of some kind, that there’s always the basic assumption from people around you that you’re not already doing everything you can?

It’s all about the illusion of control. People who are healthy like to believe they can always keep being healthy if they do the right things. They don’t want to think about how good people get struck with terrible circumstances for no reason. So they keep assuming that if they got sick, they could do something to make it better. And if you’re still sick, that must mean you’ve done something wrong or not done enough.

Nail. Head. The same attitude can be seen in how a lot of people talk about poverty.

And sexual assault. All they have to do is not go there not drink that not wear that not date them and they’ll be fine, right?

The Just World theory - that as long as I do everything right, I’m safe, and everybody who isn’t safe is at fault for not doing everything right - is perhaps the most harmful and widespread mindset today

if you ever see a conservative and wonder just how in the world they have so little compassion?  they are genuinely convinced that most - not all, but most - bad things that happen are the fault of the person affected, because then they don’t have to feel bad

somebody explaining this to me as a young adult was, quite literally, the start of me seeing the world in a new way and moving considerably to the left politically. by letting go of the just world mindset my conception of reality shifted considerably
