Lying Like Lions In The Sand

Gabby. 21. Girlfriend. Mother.

Sometimes we miss people simply because they gave us attention, maybe not the right type of attention, and maybe they were toxic people…but we still miss them. Especially on the days when we’re alone. I want to encourage you not to go back to people simply because you miss them. Evaluate the entirety of the situation and realize that there are so many people you have yet to meet and any one of them could provide you with what you lost.

i remember in 6th grade public school one of my friends in the class used the word “bungalow” as often as possible and every time he needed to say “house” or “home” he swapped it for “bungalow” and me and the rest of the class thought it was so fucking funny.

so everyone in the class started using it too like saying “I brought my lunch from the bungalow today” or whatever and the teachers HATED IT.

it started getting out of hand when we were learning about the presidents and we often needed to say “the White House” so of course we would say “the White Bungalow” and the teacher was so furious and then there was a ban on the word and if anyone said it they were sent to the office and I remember the kid who started all the bullshit one time got in trouble for something petty like sharing his homework and the teacher said that she was going to call home to him mom and he just stood up and cried out “No, ms_____! Please don’t call home!”

and there was this huge silence because he just raised his voice at the teacher

and then a huge smile spread across his face and he said

“call bungalow instead.”

and I swear the whole class rioted it was amazing

Why I won’t forget your name: 1. It’s such a special name. It’s common, but it’s a part of you. You’re special. So is your name. 2. Whenever I meet other men who share your name, I only think of you. 3. Your name holds all of our memories, and all of your traits. There is so much weight to your name. Just seeing it written someplace else will bring everything back. 4. Whenever a song comes on, one that we would listen to, I replace all the “you’s” with your name. 5. I sometimes write your name instead of my own on papers when I daydream. 6. I have written your name so many times, I’ve said it out loud so many more. It comes out so easily now. Like habit. 7. Because it’s yours. I can’t forget you.
