After a very long winded and segmented 'conversation' about humans, I've come to the cynical conclusion that our consciousness has only advanced enough to recognize our self-destructive tendencies at a point that's too late to prevent them. Sure, we do have accomplished things that other species haven't, but have performed those actions without realizing the consequences of doing so. "Our problem is, we don't know when to stop. We've got something started, and we it's going in the wrong direction... And while that is there, everything we do will be a mess." -Alan Watts
After all, what is a "complex?" Isn't it just an example of what someone has done before us? Our situation is different than theirs. Who's to say that a Trojan Horse today isn't truly a gift? That a love for a someone similar to our mother isn't an Oedipus complex? Aren't we more complex than just a few scenarios played out over and over again for millennia? Times change. I like to think that people do too
Life as a chemical equation is too much to comprehend. Most of us can hardly deal with the daily controversy, let alone the fact that all of our actions are chemical reactions manifesting into complex thoughts and interactions. It would be so much easier if we could just break it all down and everyone could witness the chemicals coursing through our bodies and say "That reaction makes sense. The chemistry adds up." Why can't people be equations?
