I didn’t do much commentary as to what exactly to expect from those newly listed Marvel Omnis, so here’s some thoughts on contents and whatnot…

  • Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus Vol. 2 - This is listed with 848 pages, which is just 32 pages under what was...

Hi, will we get the whole New Krypton saga chronologically collected in some new collection mayby omnibus or something like the No Mans Land collections? (and i mean everything: Superman , Action Comics, Supergirl, Adventure Comics, Mon El, Nightwing and Flamebird, World of New Krypton, The Last Stand of New Krypton, War of the Supermen and few one-shots)

What I’m hoping for is an Omnibus for Geoff Johns’ earlier Action Comics and Superman material, which leads forth into New Krypton, so maybe some new collections for all that to follow. The former seems likely because DC has seemed pretty intent on releasing Omnibus’ for pretty much everything Johns has done, and hopefully we could see a couple of New Krypton Omnis or collections to follow. I say a couple because there’s a TON of material in there.

The only problem is that Johns didn't wrote most of the New Krypton storyline.  He set the basis, but other writers took charge, and then the series got pointless since other writers left out what Johns prepared.

A week or so ago I posted about a lot of new collections seen on Amazon, and it looks like recently they’ve listed the contents of each of those volumes. So let’s take a look at these listings and see what I was right about and maybe wrong about.

  • Superior Spider-Man Vol. 3 OHC - Collected...

Hey! You think there's any chance to see an Ultimate x-Men Omnibus sometime in the future?
Also a The Ultimates Omnibus reprint?

I saw you talking to Marvel's Collected Editions editor on twitter and it got me thinking...who is the DC equivalent? I need to badger him about releasing the classic Legends of the Dark Knight series in big hardcover editions.

I’m not sure and I’ve been thinking about it lately but haven’t had a chance to look in my books to find out. if you’ve got a collection handy just look at one of the first pages and it should have a list of all the people who worked on it and there will be a collection editor or just editor or “special projects” person and those will be the ones responsible. Cross check that with other books to make sure.

I feel bad because I could go look instead of just saying “hey do this yourself” but I’m laying down on the couch sick so I don’t feel like moving haha

Just send an invitation to Dan Didio on Facebook.  He'll accept you.  Most of the times he does answer fan questions.  I had a lot of juicy answers back when I used to read DC.

If you have a request for a collection, he'll also take it into account.  Or at least resend the request to a proper department.

Hey! Any chance to get an Avengers Assemble Omnibus by Kurt Busiek?
The paperbacks are still around but I would loooooove me a huge Omnibus containing this run.

A few weeks ago I speculated that an Onslaught Omnibus might be coming sometime around the summer of 2014. This recent listing makes me feel even more like I’m correct in this speculation.

Here’s the description from the listing:

The X-Men have just averted the Age of Apocalypse, but the...

Man, I really hope so.  I've been holding up on Onslaught for years waiting for a hardcover edition.  If is coming in an Omnibus, even better!

[note: this post spins off from the news of what the second Uncanny X-Men Omnibus contains from yesterday. Sorry it’s so long. I just really care about this topic.]

Chris Claremont wrote a hell of a lot of X-Men comics. His main run lasted from issue #94 of the title, before it even became...

I would love an X-Men Forever Omnibus.  Also for short stories like God Loves, Man Kills to be collected in an Omnibus.

Hope this happens soon...

house of m omnibus??

I honestly don’t think this is likely since the event all of the House of M tie-ins have been collected across a few oversized HC’s already and Marvel doesn’t have much of a history of turning back to their events from the last ten years with the exception of Annihilation (which is likely due to their release of the Guardians movie).

I would rather a Decimation Omnibus better.

I had to read those books by separated and it was a drag, but it worth it since there's big events going on there that have repercussions in future stories.

I would include: Decimation: Hose of M - The Day After, Xmen 177-181, Generation M 1-5, Wolverine 36-40, Xmen: Deadly Genesis 1-6, Son of M 1-6, Sentinel Squad ONE 1-5, Xmen: The 198 1-5, Xmen: The 198 Files, Mutopia 1-5, New Xmen: 20-23, X-Factor 1-4, and Uncanny Xmen 466-468.

There's 55 issues, give or take.  I think some of those can be removed so it can fit a nice 40 something issues Omnibus, and then we can have a very nice reading going from House of M, and then the chronicles of how M day affected the mutant community.

The Wishlist: Superman by Geoff Johns Omnibus

Today the long rumored news of Geoff Johns and John Romita JR coming on as the new Superman creative team is going to be officially revealed, and thus I think it’s about time for DC to look into putting out a nice collection of Johns’ previous material from Action Comics.
