If I read something on the asks that feels genuinely threatening or dangerous, or that's actually abusive, I just delete it and block the person.

If I'm answering an ask here you can assume that as far as I'm concerned even if it's apparently threatening or angry, it's meant humorously or with love.

It's never appropriate to dogpile people. Never appropriate to threaten or abuse them, even if you think you are doing it for me and with the best of intentions. Don't.

If you are upset on my behalf, or on behalf of all Tumblr users, just think "this is probably a tone-deaf attempt at humour" and let it go.

Reblogging because I'm seeing people upset or offended on my behalf. To repeat, If I'm answering an ask here you can assume that as far as I'm concerned even if it's apparently threatening or angry, it's meant humorously or with love.

If I think something is actually unpleasant or bad, I'll just block them.

Don't dogpile on my behalf. I don't want you to, I think it's actively a bad idea, and it's bullying. (Remember: it can still be bullying when more than one of you turn up, even when you think you're in the right or the aggrieved party.)

Play nice, never attribute to malice what can easily be attributed to internet-caused text-based tone-deafness or misinterpretation, and everyone will have an easier time.

So now we're talking about fair pay and residuals for actors and writers can we start talking about fairer pay and streaming residuals for musicians. Particularly smaller musicians who are locked in unfair contracts and have no control over the licencing and usage of their music. And session artists who work for one day and receive no residuals, no matter how much revenue the music they created generates. And local "booking agents" who capitalise on the market while giving their artists almost none of the money from their ticket sales.

"You're going to miss out on all this media because of the strikes!"

Y'all shot a whole-ass Batgirl movie and refused to release it so you could get a tax break, constantly cancel popular shows after a single season, and remove stuff from streaming while refusing to sell it on physical media, so maybe shut the fuck up.

I hope every major studio and streaming service crashes, all your executives end up permanently unemployed, and that all we're left with is indie media produced by people who can see beyond the dollar sign.

GRADE SCHOOL SJWS stop using social justice language to explain shit to your conservative parents IT’S NOT GONNA GO THROUGH now all they have are some new words to make fun of. don’t tell your mom she’s being fatphobic tell her she’s being a dick

I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished

I’ve ranted about this before. It’s so obvious when some asshole has put on voice to text on their computer and didn’t even proof read what their AI thought it heard. Also, please don’t put “foreign language” caption OVER an actual translation of what was said that was provided by post. Either translate it because subtitle users deserve to understand what they’re watching, or don’t interfere with the actual caption provided.

I'll say the same thing about the actors strike as I did the writers strike, for those complaining or whining about movie or show delays:

There are, literally, more shows and movies already released available to you than you could watch over multiple years.

Shut the fuck up, watch something new to you that's already out and support people trying to survive this goddamn hellscape.

Fun Fact: The last time both WGA and SAG (now SAG-AFTRA) were on strike together, it was in 1960. They were striking over residuals for television productions and airing of films on television.

See, the studios and networks didn't think they should pay for television. "It's too new of a technology! It's unproven! We don't know if it'll ever be profitable! Listen, why don't we just put this off for now and come back to it later..."

Damned if that doesn't sound really fucking familiar...

I hope the cgi/vfx artists join the strike. Hell I hope the rest of the tech and support teams like sound engineers and prop and costume makers get involved and get better deals. Grind every part of the industry to a holt until those fuckers pay up

i'm curious to know the ratio of writers to readers on ao3 so here's a poll. when i say writer, i mean people who have published works on ao3, doesn't matter if it's once, or if it was ages ago, or if it's a regular occurrence. when i say reader, i mean people who have never published a work on ao3. the reader vote still counts if you don't have an account on ao3. if you're a writer who is also an active reader, please still click on the "writer" option!

please do boost this so it reaches a larger sample space!

In case you were wondering what the trees looked like before, I did some Google Street view investigating:

2 Years ago, and the most “pruned” previous pic of them I’ve found them. . . You can, ofc, barely see the difference between this and the carnage of the first picture. . . See guys! It’s just a usual annual prune. ;3 [Intense Sarcasm]

We’re honestly past the point of arguing over whether piracy is a morally correct practice or not.

Studios are removing shows and movies from streaming services like it was nothing, all while telling us that “You don’t need to pirate stuff anymore, it’s available legally!”

Writers and actors are being denied residuals because the studio heads don’t view them as people, all their hard work is being thrown into the ether because a CEO needs to save up money for a yacht.

Like it or not, piracy is becoming a necessity at this point. As a lot of the shows and movies that are being taken down would be lost forever right now if someone hadn’t pirated them.
