There are political newspaper comics that aren't this succinct
People with most mainstream tastes imaginable should not open their mouth on how anti piracy they are btw. Yea no shit you can depend on legal sources to watch Marvel and listen to tswift and Maroon 5. Thank you so much for signing the petition to close that platform that was the only one i could download this 2008 romanian dungeon synth ep from
Cheryl Dunye’s directorial debut, The Watermelon Woman, was out of print between 2000 and 2018. Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace was only available to watch on a pirate channel on YouTube until last year. There is still no way to watch the X-Files spinoff, The Lone Gunmen except to own a dvd box set that has been out of print since 2005. Or to pirate it. It’s on YouTube.
Piracy is incredibly important to keep media that’s weird, or out there or just embarrassing to someone in power, alive. We need piracy and we need to stop being snitches when someone pirates stuff.

This is what happens when you’re still on tumblr as an adult, you start reblogging shit like this

I'm not gonna lie the secret to success for a great many people is absolutely stimulant abuse
Wait hold on what was that
how i see this post

I encourage anyone who wonders things like "Why does the DPRK hate the United States so much?" or "Why would the United States lie about North Korea?" to, well, first of all, cultivate a sense of empowered investigative curiosity about the world around them, but secondly, to just go to the wikipedia page for The Korean War and check under the "civilian casualties" section.
actually here I'll just drop a screenshot
I want you try to envision that number. The population of the DPRK in 1954 is cited by various Western sources as being between 7.7 million - 10.2 million, however more contemporary sources seem to lean towards the larger number (7.7 million was estimated by the CIA in 1954)
If we say 10 million people, with 1.5 million casualties. That's 15% of the post-war population. 15%. That's a little more frequent than 1 in 7. Imagine one out of every 7 people you know being killed. This study estimates that the median individual has a social network of about 470 people. Rounding down, 15% of that is 70 people. Imagine 70 people out of everyone you know personally being killed. 15% is massive. It's a genuinely sickening and horrific figure.
In comparison, in WWII, according to Wikipedia the UK had a casualty rate of .94% of their 1939 population, and the USSR had a casualty rate closer with 13.7% of their 1940 population.
The United States is a hulking behemoth of death and cruelty and genocide. It is a machine dedicated to one thing, which is the extraction of power and profit at the cost of any amount of human life. Like all bourgeois imperialist powers, it is a mechanism for the transmutation of innocent human life directly into political-economic power.
Moreover, The United States of America must be destroyed.
No matter how much you hate the US it can never be enough

this is also why you keep seeing those meme pictures of South Korean grandmas going "there are no good U.S. presidents." A lot of younger chuds might salivate at the thought of being a USA colony and a lot of rightoid establishment might sell out the South Korean public to line their pockets but do not get it twisted; there is a sizeable intergenerational movement to get these fuckers out of the country, regardless of how pie-in-the-sky that goal is.

It’s actually very funny that people say short hair isn’t feminine, if your friends are telling you to cut your hair they secretly hate you, your hairdresser is sabotaging you if she cuts it shorter when some of the most beautiful women who are constantly used as examples of how women should look had short hair
I think I'll have to save these tags for future use
Apparently there are increasing numbers of jaguar sightings in North America, but how are they able to get there ever since the Panama Canal was built? I hear they're fairly good swimmers so do they just swim across?
nah they've been chilling in the Yucatan all along!
jaguars were NEVER extirpated in central and southern Mexico, and as their populations slowly recover there, they're starting to push back north into their old traditional territories! with enough time and recovery, they may even start to fully reestablish themselves in Texas and Arizona, which they were extirpated from in the early 1900s.
tldr: they never left North America. they were here all along.
hopefully protections remain in place so that El Tigre can finally return to the river flats of the American West where they belong. and the ranchers can die mad about it.
Fun fact in addition to this: Jaguars frequently DO swim across the Panama Canal! It's been spotted (pun intended) happening from time to time, but also genetic research done in 2017 revealed that there were no jaguar subspecies, meaning that there was genetic flow between jaguars across all of their current range. So, the South American jaguars and the Central American jaguars are frequently interbreeding.
One of the world's jaguar experts, the late Dr. Alan Rabinowitz (may his memory be a blessing) helped envision the Jaguar Corridor Initiative, aka Paseo del Jaguar, to ensure that the jaguar population remains unbroken.

When Apollo 11 successfully landed and the images were released, ‘The Sun’ newspaper in Vancouver changed it’s name to ‘The Moon’ to report it.

Endlessly diabolical how you can't say words like rape and suicide uncensored without either being criticised by idiots or punished by conglomerates.
It's not r*pe, it's rape. It's not su*cide, it's suicide. Not unalive, dead. The backbone needs to be reintroduced en masse because softening the blow of these concepts with advertising language does absolutely nothing but allow people unaffected by them to feel not even a sting of what they can do, prompting inaction.
And it's been proven that on certain websites, you don't even face a repercussion for using the words as they are. People just started censoring themselves because they feared the potential lack of views and likes and followers which is so nasty itself.
I attended an anti-suicide seminar in college. One of the big takeaways from it was that stigmatizing suicide increases the rate of suicide, because people who are feeling suicidal feel like they can't ask for help. Every time I see babytalk garbage like 'unalive', I think of that.
Use the real words. Words have power, and they matter.
my mom called our lazy susan a sleazy susan by accident once and now I can't call it anything else
Can’t let a piece of gold like that stay in the tags.
some of y’all bout to be real mad at me. but it must be said. some of the shit u call corny/cringy is actually just genuine/cute/sweet and y’all r just afraid of expressing any type of positive emotion
i work with youth and they loooooooove to go “ew that’s so cringe” the moment anything earnest even grazes their orbit.
my general line that i send back to them is “hm. not sure i really believe in ‘cringe.’ it kind of sounds like you’re choosing to be embarrassed right now.”
“it sounds like you’re choosing to be embarrassed right now” is such a good line and I’m using it
u know besides the million other reasons i hate generative ai i also refuse to use it bc i dont trust anything being pushed on me this hard. why does every company desperately want me to get on the bandwagon. whats in it for you. whats in it for me. if ur pushing this shitass product into my life so intrusively u must have nefarious intentions. i dont trust anything being shilled like this
This whole thing about scanning your face to prove tour age is making me remember, in 2018 while out in paris we got our wallet stolen during a particularly busy night at a lesbian bar. It was very late and with no money to buy metro tickets we were effectively stranded, but some people helped us and we ended up staying the night at a really sweet older man's place. His face was deeply scarred and he was missing an eye. We chatted on our way and he told me about his life, probably to help calm me down. He explained he had been stuck in a house fire 20 years ago and had had multiple rounds of facial reconstruction and a skin graft, but there's only so much surgery can do so he just learned to live with it. I remember he said he liked the queer bars because they're the only place people don't really stare at him.
At some point I took out my phone, and at the time I was using face unlock. This prompted him to tell me all the ways this technology doesn't work on him. How his phone selfie camera doesn't focus right because it's not a detecting a face. How he had to update his ID the old fashioned way, because the website kept rejecting his photos. And how it was becoming more and more common, and how it was making his life way harder.
This was 7 years ago, and now whenever I see this sort of technology I think of how that guy can't use it. And how house fires are pretty common, and how anything from being born this way to a skin condition to heavy tattooing can probably cause the same issue. Can these people get age verified ? Will they just lose access to all social media, which are increasingly necessary in society, if this becomes the norm ? These are people who are already driven out of public spaces due to how they look, and they're getting pushed out online too all in the interest of companies wanting more money.
so itchio has shadowbanned any games tagged with 'nsfw', 'adult', or 'erotic' so they don't show up in searches, and several devs have reported that their r18 games have been removed from the site with no warning
you know, maybe the internet shouldn’t be controlled by payment processors and terf lobbyists. and maybe people should be more concerned about this rise of censorship on queer media.
just to help spread accurate and helpful info about this as much as possible.
itch have less than 25 employees, and are just the latest target of a long running campaign to get payment processors to crack down on NSFW and LGBTQIA+ content (which the right wing hate campaigns see as one and the same) please blame itch as little as possible, yes they capitulated here, but they have very little power in this arrangement and have always been on the right side in the past. Hell, Steam have also complied, and they have way more power, and way more revenue from NSFW games, if they could have fought back they would have done. this is not a betrayal from itch, no matter how disappointing it may be.
the group claiming responsibility here are "Collective Shout" who claim it took roughly 1000 phonecalls to mastercard to get them to comply. They have the current admin and culture war momentum on their side, but we have way more than 1000 people on ours.
Mastercard (US): +1-914 249-2000 Mastercard (Int.): +1-636-722-7111 Visa (US + Can): +1 (650) 432-3200 Visa (AUS): 1 800 125 440 PayPal: +44-0203-901-7000
Mastercard (Aus): 1800-120-113 Mastercard (US): 1-800-307-7309 Mastercard (UK): 0800-96-4767
there are also some petitions gaining momentum, but phonecalls are probably going to be more effective in this case.
This is a big blow for comic artists, who have vanishingly few venues left to post work with adult content (and remember, the groups responsible for this don't distinguish between "nsfw" and "queer") for sale online.
It's gotten demonstrably worse over the past decade, and right wing groups and credit card processors are the ones responsible.
