Mike and Henry's reunion in Pizza Sim as a horror story.
Mike being forced to work with the guy who refused to believe him about William’s abuse when young Mike desperately needed help.
Just when Mike starts to somewhat trust Henry-- or at least believe Henry cares about him-- again, Henry says in his Final Speech "my brave volunteer, there was a way out planned for you but I have a feeling you don't want that."
He never asks Michael beforehand if Michael wants to survive or not. He just decides on his own that of course Michael doesn't, and scraps the escape plan without asking. Whether or not Michael wanted to live is irrelevant; the fact that he doesn't even get a choice or a voice to the one adult he almost loved and trusted is one last stinging pain before the fire consumes him
And the thing is WHY would Henry do something so... Insensitive? Inconsiderate? Not quite the words but I think inconsiderate makes the sentiment come across.
And the reason is that Henry is just like William, just as self-centered and just as inconsiderate to those around him.
In the speech Henry gives in the insanity ending we can see clear as day that he believes himself to be just as culpable of William's actions as William himself, that it was his fault for not stopping him, that William perverted his creations, that it's his duty to end everything.
And while he does show sympathy for the victims, he marks a clear distinction between them, and the beasts they've become, and his only concerned with them is to destroy them so that, again, he can end the nightmare
It makes perfect sense that he would have no regards for Michael's choices or lack thereof.
No matter how Henry twist it or even truly believe that what he's doing is noble and just, Michael is just as much of a loose end as all the other half alive mechanical beasts crawling the tunnels, just as much of a mistake in his book.
I'm sure there was a way out, Henry is smart enough implement such a thing, after all there was no guarantee that it was gonna be Michael the one to take up the job, and Henry is not going to damm the average Joe.
Michael however? In Henry's eyes he needs to burn just as much as his father, perhaps because of pity rather than distain, but he needs to burn all the same.
And the kicker to all of this?
That Henry didn't do a single. Damn. Thing.
He didn't kill anyone, he didn't create a whole business to capture children, he didn't experiment on them, and he certainly didn't push William into a old moldy springsuit, because creating Springtrap is apparently on his top-worst-thing-I've-done list.

Instead, he stayed safe and sound, designing death traps and writing dramatic monologues while the son of the man responsible for ruining his life and that of so many others dies at the hands of his father's victims, only to then do his best to atone for sins he didn't commit while barely standing in his forever rotting body, only to then at the end of everything, deny that very man the ability to choose whether it really was the end for him.

I was reviewing the list of the top 100 books downloaded yesterday and I saw a fair few that I had to read for college classes - so if you’re a college student and your professor assigns you to read Plato or any number of older works, check here before you buy a copy.
I reread the Anne series several years back - they were free through this. I need to reread Pride and Prejudice at least once a year, and my e-book version is from this. Someone recommended Jekyll and Hyde to me a few weeks back and I got a free copy from this. When I went to Haworth on my last holiday before the plague times, I brought books by the Bronte sisters with me to read or reread that I downloaded from here. It’s a great resource.
Yes yes yes! I was honestly so flabbergasted that this young person hadn't heard of the gutenberg project! It's been around for AGES, maybe longer than the kindle has? And it's such a huge project and wonderful resource! It used to be a household name (or maybe that's just my family, thanks to my dad being a cheapskate nerd [affectionate]). I was so glad to be able to share this resource and others with them though, and I wanted to make sure no one else was missing out!
If you look at the first reblog from me I also recommended a few other resources, most of which were from www.archive.org, home of the Wayback Machine! They run openlibrary.org, where you can check out ebooks of some public domain titles! They even have the Bone series by Jeff Smith!
And archive.org itself has all kinds of public domain media including music and movies! For Dracula fans, here's a radio show adaptation of the book, starring Orson Welles! And here's a 1920 movie adaptation of "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," starring John Barrymore, the grandfather of Drew Barrymore!
I'm so excited to see people falling in love with classic media through Dracula Daily! Let's keep that fire blazing!
Also, if you can't handle reading things, check out libirvox.org! it's a free audio book project taking public domain works and people doing free audiobooks! there's a lot of great stuff on there, but it takes things in the public domain and makes audio books out of them!

fucked up how cooking and baking from scratch is viewed as a luxury…..like baking a loaf of bread or whatever is seen as something that only people with money/time can do. I’m not sure why capitalism decided to sell us the idea that we can’t make our own damn food bc it’s a special expensive thing that’s exclusive to wealthy retirees but it’s stupid as hell and it makes me angry
bread takes like max 4 ingredients counting water and sure it takes a couple hours but 80% of that is just waiting around while it does the thing and you can do other things while it’s rising/baking plus im not gonna say baking cured my depression bc it didn’t but man is it hard to feel down when you’re eating slices of fresh bread you just made yourself. feels like everything’s gonna be a little more ok than you thought. it’s good.
bread is amazing and it’s also been sold to us as something really hard to make? Every time I tell someone I made a loaf of bread I get reactions like “you made it yourself???” and “do you have a bread machine then?” I haven’t touched a bread machine in probably 10 years. You CAN make your own bread, folks, and it’s actually pretty cheap to do so. I believe the most expensive thing I needed for it was the jar of yeast. It was about $6 at the grocery store and lasted me MONTHS (just keep it in the fridge.) The packets are even cheaper. destroy capitalism. bake your own bread.
You can also make your own yeast by making a sourdough starter, so that cuts cost even more.
But you have to feed the starter daily/weekly and that means it grows quickly, but there are tons of recipes online for what to do with your excess starter. Cookies, pretzels, crackers, pancakes, waffles, you name it!!

Make it even easier - “No-Knead Bread”. All YOU do is mix the ingredients together and wait until it’s time to heat the oven. The yeast does all the rest.
Here’s @dduane’s first take on it and the finished product. We’ve made even more photogenic batches since.
Kneading is easy as well; either let your machine do it, or if you don’t want to or don’t have one, get hands-on. It’s like mixing two colours of Plasticine to make a third. Flatten, stretch, fold, half-turn, repeat - it takes about 10 minutes - until the gloopy conglomeration of flour, yeast, salt and water that clings to your hands at the beginning, becomes a compact ball that doesn’t stick to things and feels silky-smooth.
Here’s what before and after look like.
My Mum used to say that if you were feeling out of sorts with someone, it was good to make bread because you could transfer your annoyance into kneading the dough REALLY WELL, and both you and the bread would be better for it.
Then you put it into a bowl, cover it with cling-film and let it rise until it doubles in size, turn it out and “knock it back” (more kneading, until it’s getting back to the size it started, this means there won’t be huge “is something living in here?” holes in the bread), put it into your loaf-tin or whatever - we’ve used a regular oblong tin, a rectangular Pullman tin with a lid, a small glass casserole, an earthenware chicken roaster…
You can even use a clean terracotta flowerpot.
Let the dough rise again until it’s high enough to look like an unbaked but otherwise real loaf, then pop it in the preheated oven. On average we give ours 180°C / 355°F for 45-50 minutes. YM (and oven) MV.

Here’s our default bread recipe - it takes about 3-4 hours from flour jar to cutting board depending on climate (warmer is faster) most of which is rise time and baking; hands-on mixing, kneading and knocking-back is about 20 minutes, tops, and less if using a mixer.
Here ( or indeed any of the other pics) is the finished product. This one was given an egg-wash to make it look glossy and keep the poppy-seeds in place; mostly we don’t bother with that or the slash down the middle, but all the extras were intentional as a “ready for my close-up” glamour shot.
I think any shop would be happy to have something this good-looking on their shelf. We’re happy to have it on our table.
Even if your first attempts don’t work out quite as well as you hope, you can always make something like this…

Man I hate when these purity kids try to take down ao3 because ao3 is about sharing and choices. You get to CHOOSE what you are comfortable with! A true safe place is about informed choices, not guidance designed to keep you ignorant.

i take things literally. i don’t get a lot of neurotypical humor and often feel left out of the joke or even feel like i’m the joke sometimes. i’m gullible. there’s no way to sugarcoat it or put it more nicely, i’m just gullible. i don’t always know what’s satire. i’m socially awkward and have a hard time befriending or remaining friends with anybody who isn’t like me.

You know what’s more fun than worldbuilding that makes some fantasy races EEEEVIIIIIIILLLLL!!!!? Worldbuilding that gives the different races cultural differences that help explain why there’s a lot of conflict between them:
Goblin culture doesn’t have a concept of “Property”. A stick on the ground and a tool in a locked shed are equally up for grabs if a thing needs doing. They casually take and leave things all over their communities, eat from communal pots, and genuinely Do Not Understand why the Core Races are so Angry and prone to Violence all the time.
Consequently Goblins who live near Core communities develop a reputation as “Thieves” despite not even having a *word* for that. (The closest word they have is more like “Greedy” and it means a person that hides things so nobody else can use them, and it’s a surefire fight-starter to call a Goblin that)
Common Orc Spiritual beliefs hold that a Soul can only grow stronger by overcoming Challenges in life, and see intruding on another person’s Challenge unasked for as not just Rude, but Deeply Harmful. You’re Stealing their chance to Grow. Asking for help is deeply personal and doing so can be both a way to grow closer with them or a too-personal intrusion, depending on your existing relationship with them. An exception is Children, as far as most Orcs are concerned, all Children are fundamentally the responsibility of the Whole Community, regardless of whose child they are, or even if said child is an Orc at *all*.
This means that Orcs who live near Core neighbors often seem Rude and Standoffish if not outright hostile, because they neither ask for nor offer aid even in times of trouble, and respond to unasked for aid themselves with Anger. There are even rumors that they Steal Children, because if an Orc finds a child lost in the woods they’re pretty much immediately going to start feeding it, and if they can’t find where to bring it back to, or it doesn’t seem to be well cared for, they’re just gonna keep it.
This. I like this.
…it would also mean that while other races call goblins thieves, goblins think of pretty much everyone else as thieves! Or, as noted, the goblin equivalent thereof!
I mean, just look at them. Always tucking their stuff away, even locking it up, not listening to any arguments about why you really need it! And they don’t learn from good examples, either. They only get worse if they realize there are goblins nearby.

It’s an unpopular opinion but it is absolutely and completely true. I’ve never seen someone who creates for engagement happy with the engagement they get. I posit they can’t ever be happy that way because it will NEVER be enough
I think people no longer understand that "viewer discretion is advised" does not mean "vaguely bad content ahead," it means View At Your Own Discretion. As in, if you see the content going in a direction that is unsuitable for you in any way, it is your responsibility to stop viewing. Don't blame creators for your failure to listen to your own warning signs. Nobody is forcing you to finish the episode, the chapter, the sentence. That's all you.
